Terrible customer service — possibly the worst I have ever experienced.

I’m not usually someone who writes reviews, but this experience was so unnecessarily frustrating that I feel it deserves to be shared.

A Post Insurance was contacted on Friday afternoon to add a named driver to an insurance policy. What should have been a simple request turned into an absolute nightmare.

The employee on the phone appeared completely inexperienced and unsure of the process. He was unable to add a named driver to the policy and assured the caller that someone would call back between 3pm and 6pm to resolve it.

Nobody called.

Whether the message was never passed on or simply ignored, the result was the same: left waiting for a call that never came, with no follow-up and no apparent concern for the situation.

Now it’s the weekend, and because An Post provides no way to make this change, contact anyone, or manage the issue outside their limited opening hours, our important travel plans have had to be changed.

This is more than just an inconvenience. It’s incredibly disappointing that something as straightforward as adding a named driver can become a major problem simply because of poor communication, lack of organisation and a complete absence of follow-up.

Is this really the standard of customer service An Post considers acceptable?

In an industry where customers are trusting a company to provide support when they actually need it, this experience has seriously damaged my confidence in An Post.

There are plenty of insurance companies competing for customers who appear far more organised, responsive and willing to actually help.

Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend thinking twice before choosing An Post Insurance.

Why do you send out a price for an existing customer and when you phone in you get it much cheaper. Why not give the price in the letter, save having to ring

Plenty of notice, ended up being the cheapest I could get without having to contact you to haggle and documents arrived without delay so it was “pain free”

The person on the phone line was very helpful and took their time explaining the questions they were asking.
The follow-up was very efficient and clear.
