The experience has been excellent thanks to the step by step and the accompaniment that they have given me in au pair care. From tips and help to start, look for family, documents and go making each point slow but sure. I believe that choosing the family to make a good match is really important to help you in your stay here in the United States and to fulfill your goals here.

Exceptional Support from Au Pair Care and Area Director Catherine
We have been very happy with the support we have received from Au Pair Care. This was our first experience with an Au pair, and our area director Catherine has been a wonderful source of support. She has helped us immensely through some of our stress as we have navigated the process of bringing new person into our home. Catherine is always willing to make time for us after hours or over the weekend. She really listens to our needs and helps when we have questions.

I would like to share my experience regarding my first year of the exchange program with your agency. Unfortunately, my experience was marked by serious issues that caused me discomfort and harm.
First of all, I encountered a serious safety issue when I discovered hidden cameras in my room. The way the agency handled this situation was inadequate, and I did not receive the necessary support to resolve the problem safely and properly. Moreover, I am extremely disappointed with how the agency treated me, as I was made to appear at fault in this situation when, in reality, I was the victim. The family that supposedly placed the cameras was treated as the victim, which only compounded my distress.
Additionally, there was a significant setback in my matching process with a new family. The family that requested the match needed extra help and did not want me to choose a new family in such a short period, without having the opportunity to get to know them properly. They found it outrageous that I only had two weeks to find a new family, especially given the psychological impact of everything I had gone through with the previous family.
In light of these circumstances, I cannot recommend the agency to future exchange students, as I believe that safety and proper support are fundamental in such a program.
Nevertheless, I have decided to extend my exchange for a second year with the agency, not because I have no other viable option at the moment, but because I want to try to recover my exchange experience, as I was unable to fully enjoy it during the first year due to everything I went through.

AuPairCare spent significant time investigating the concerns, and takes situations like these very seriously. While our understanding is that the cameras were never operational, we completely understand being distressed by their discovery.
Au pairs have 14 days to either match or return home -- while we understand that this is a tight timeline, it is important for au pairs to remain active participants in the program while on their J1 visa and follow the US Department of State regulations.
We are so happy that you have decided to spend another year in the United States with AuPairCare, and hope that we can provide the support you need as you continue in the program.
