My overall experience with Bidwells was disappointing. While the agents were generally polite, I found the service lacking in communication, knowledge and proactive management.

There were several occasions where I had to repeatedly follow up to get things done. Responses to emails could also take a day, which was frustrating when dealing with time-sensitive matters.

I was also informed about an early-release fee at the last minute, despite having previously made it clear that I wanted to leave early. Better communication in advance would have avoided this unpleasant surprise.

Unfortunately, there was also an issue with the tenancy renewal, where I felt more proactive communication with the landlord could have prevented us from having to pay for an additional month.

I was also uncomfortable with being told that tenants needed to use professional cleaning services. I would have expected clearer and more accurate guidance regarding the applicable tenancy regulations.

Overall, although the staff were polite, I felt that the level of service did not meet the standard I would expect from a professional property management company. Based on my experience, I would be hesitant to recommend Bidwells, particularly to tenants.

Very happy with Bidwells continuing management of the renting out of our Cambridge house.

I've been letting a property in Cambridge through Bidwells for almost 10 years and I've always been very happy with the team managing my property. They are very fair when it comes to reviewing the repairs and replacements of fixtures that need to be undertaken by the tenant or the landlord at the end of a tenancy. My property has never been vacant for more than a month between tenants, most of the time this was due to maintenance works they recommended I have done between tenants to keep the property up to a high standard. They manage all routine service checks throughout the year and ensure everything is compliant with latest property rental regulations.

I was supposed to have a viewing for one of the properties listed by Bidwells. I don't live in the city I am trying to relocate to, so I had limited options for the timing. I had to rebook the viewing twice, which I know is not ideal, but the lady agent confirmed with me that it was okay and she rebooked it for the following week. I came to the viewing 10 minutes early and waited around 25 minutes and no one showed up. I knocked but there was no one in the property, although window was open, so it seemed a bit weird. I tried to call twice but the agency didn't pick up the phone neither, so I decided to leave after all this waiting. I don't know if they automatically cancelled the viewing because I rebooked it too many times or what happened. No one even bothered to call me or drop me a message about the cancellation. I thought perhaps let was agreed and the viewing was cancelled, but the property is still listed a week later, so it couldn't be the reason. Honestly disappointed, and I will definitely avoid dealing with this agency in the future if I can.

We rented with Bidwells Cambridge for 18 months (09/24-04/26). We dealt with Olivia Davies on check-out, who consistency attempted to scam us out of our deposit. When moving out we cleaned the house to a professional standard (as stated by their own check-out inventory). After requesting our deposit multiple times and not hearing from Bidwells for 1 month after giving back the keys, they told us they were disputing 20% of the full deposit.

Most of the list of items under dispute were fabricated or minor points made into much bigger issues. For example they were claiming we'd left signifiant amounts of rubbish that needed to be professionally removed. In reality, we'd left a bag of two cushions that were there at move in, just inside a box so weren't present on the move in inventory - they were claiming £65 for removing them! They also accused us of cracking a freezer draw and wanted £68 for this - luckily we recorded a move-in video and managed to find a shot of the freezer, showing the minuscule crack was there on move-in. We found so many inconsistencies between the check-in and check-out reports. They wanted money for "light dust" on the one blinds, they wanted money for water marks on the inside of the dishwasher, they wanted money for tightening a kitchen draw handle and toilet seat!

We knew we hadn't caused the damage/cleaning that was being claimed, so we progressed our dispute with the TDS, after 3 months of back and forth, 1 week prior to adjudication, Bidwell's gave in and settled the case only taking £25 from the £1850 deposit. If you find yourself in this situation, do not let them walk over you, you have rights and should push back. The whole dispute process honestly felt like a scam as they were constantly trying to bargin with us about how much money we should pay. Surely we caused the damage and owe the money, or not!

I'm glad we held out because they did not deserve any of our money. They never listened to reason when we explained and they constantly ignored emails and calls. I even went to the office on multiple occasions and they were always "in a meeting". They will continually delay the process because they know most people need the deposit returned and can't afford to allow them to hold extra money. They also held the undisputed deposit far longer than they were allowed in an attempt to force settlement.

Genuinely horrible renting situation, where we've never had a deposit disputed in 9 years of previous properties.

Billy was exceptional from start to finish in selling our home in Cambridge. His communication was clear, consistent, and always reassuring, and he guided us through every stage of the process with real expertise. What stood out most was his calm, proactive approach, nothing was ever too much trouble, and he handled every detail with care. Thanks to Billy’s hard work, the sale moved quickly and smoothly, and we felt supported throughout. We couldn’t have asked for a better estate agent.

They have both been outstanding throughout my tenancy transition. Edward and Lisa were extremely responsive, professional and supportive at every stage, which made the whole process much smoother and far less stressful.

This company has very poor salesmanship and lacks customer care for sole traders. I looked at a small office space near Charlbury in Oxfordshire to run my small therapy business and instantly felt dismissed by Theo who met me at the property with his assistant Daisy. After opening up the room for me to view he left to deal with another matter, leaving me with his assistant who was lovely, but unable to answer alot of my questions due to her lack of experience. Theo disappeared and I didn't hear from him for any kind of follow up afterwards. I did however like the room and wanted to apply for the tenancy. I put in my application and was told by Daisy that it would be submitted to the landlord and someone would be in touch with the next steps. After almost three weeks of no correspondence I emailed to ask if the Landlord had approved my application and I had no response back. Another week on I decided to call Theo's assistant to get an update and was told that I would be notified once the landlord had received my application. So almost one month on and this hadn't even been submitted to the landlord. I emailed Theo again to say I needed an answer soon otherwise I would have to continue my search for another space. Several days later he responded and informed me that the landlord was yet to make a decision as there were several applications to consider. I feel Bidwells wasted my time and their lack of communication is totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Luckily for me I found an alternative space where I am dealing directly with the landlord. If you are a female sole trader dont go near this company as you will be dismissed and have your time wasted.

Bidwells Cambridge office has let and managed our rental apartments for a few years. Always efficient, responsive, proactive.

All members of staff were extremely helpful, polite, friendly and very prompt with answers to questions. A terrific team that made the whole process easy. We also feel confident that they would be pleased to answer any questions subsequent to completion!
