Over Big House Experience
Geschreven door het bedrijf
Our aim is simple: to offer truly wonderful experiences in truly exceptional houses, for groups of friends and families. We have curated our fabulous collection of large houses to rent with great care. Each and every house has been hand-picked with those truly wonderful experiences in mind. All have oodles of space, luxury as standard, and unique features that add the ‘wow’ factor.
We’re a family business. It started with just the two of us; husband and wife duo, Gareth and Claire Allen. We’re developing a team of lovely like-minded people around us as we grow, who will make sure we never lose that family business feel. And that means we’ll never lose that level of personal service that our wonderful guests have come to love.
We are selective. And unapologetically so. We feature only houses we’d be genuinely excited about staying in ourselves. It’s not about numbers for us – we’re happy to keep our collection of properties small and beautiful if that means we can recommend each property with confidence and pride.

The Hideaway
We stayed at the Hideaway at the end of June to celebrate my daughter’s Hen weekend. The property did not disappoint, including the amazing views and sunsets. We were a group of 16 and the property was very well equipped, clean and with a lot of thought put in to make our stay comfortable.
I highly recommend this property which in our opinion had everything we needed and more.

Great Oak Farm – a wonderful place.
Great Oak Farm is a wonderful place. It accommodated 5 families with ease, made up of 10 adults and 15 children, using a couple of Z beds which were provided. It has everything that you would need for a comfortable stay and is situated in large well manicured grounds and next to open country fields.
It was clean when we arrived and when we were leaving the cleaning team, window cleaner and maintenance man were just arriving to make everything ready for the next occupants.
We all had a very good time and I am happy to recommend it to any group, family or otherwise, looking for good quality accommodation.
It is also near some pleasant beaches and only a short drive from Canterbury which is a fascinating city to visit.

Haygrass House
Our group consisted of 10 adults and 8 children between the ages of 3 and 12.
It is the ideal place to take children as there are plenty of things for them to do. To begin with there is the outdoor heated pool. We were really fortunate with the weather meaning all of us used the pool. The children three or four times a day!
There is a tennis court, a football pitch, trampoline, tree house and adjoining stables with horses the children can pet. There is plenty of space to run around and perfectly safe, provided you supervise them in the pool.
Inside there are other activities available including a Games room, with table tennis and darts, a cellar bar area with karaoke machine and a massive home cinema room.
The house is huge with nicely appointed bedrooms which can be configured to suit your particular needs.
It has everything you need to prepare meals and a huge outside table to seat all guests. In addition a huge dining table inside. We didn’t use this because of the fantastic weather.
You are given a guided tour on arrival by the housekeeper who lives on site. This is useful as the property is so big!
It’s only a short drive from the Taunton motorway junction and a short drive into town to get any shopping. We had to do this as the shopping we ordered didn’t arrive!
It was a fantastic stay and throughly enjoyed by all. I would wholeheartedly recommend it for a family celebration especially if your party includes young children.

READ EVERYTHING AND GET IT ALL IN…
READ EVERYTHING AND GET IT ALL IN WRITING!!!!! We contacted this website about one of their properties and booked with them in the winter of 2025 for a trip in the fall of 2026. As of yet we haven’t even gone on our trip and I have fully paid for the home. I originally inquired about additions like a private chef and was informed that the house included breakfasts and other amenities. During the time between our deposit and final payment was to be made I was informed that the employee who communicated the inclusions was mistaken and that breakfasts and other amenities weren’t included. I was told that the contract didn’t say they were included so I should have known. The contract doesn’t list anything included only the dates for the rental. It doesn’t even state that the rental is self catering which is the excuse they were claiming so they did not have to include the services they said were included. The contract only called the rental a residential stay. I was upset and asked for a discount. It honestly didn’t even need to be much but something to make up for and address the situation because we had planned/budgeted for a different experience. They wouldn’t even respond to my emails! All the correspondence I got following the situation was payment reminders. Basically threatening me that if I don’t pay I’m in default and would lose my deposit money. They didn’t even offer an apology. Disgusting behavior. Even if you have it written in the email they will not back up their word. If you decide to use this company, which I would not recommend, make sure everything is in your contract! And once they have you booked you they could care less and their communication is crap.

Just back from a 4 night stay at…
Just back from a 4 night stay at Haygrass House for my 50th birthday. The house was everything I hoped it would be and more. We were a group of 18 adults and 4 children, ages ranged from 2 to 81 and there was something for everyone. The house had so much space. The party/bar area was fab! The media room was amazing, large screen with surround sound and comfy sofas. Bedrooms were fab, comfy beds and bedding and all rooms had so much space. The gardens were beautiful, we stayed during the heatwave so having the pool was perfect. Absolutely loved the house and would stay there again. Booking process was easy, good and quick communication from all at Big House Experience. Thank you so much for a memorable experience. Would definitely book through this company again 😊

The location was great
The location was great, and the house was as depicted, clean, with lots of space, and facilities for a mixed age group.
The bedrooms and en suites were of a good size and comfortable.
The tables both inside and outside the house were substantial and seated 14 of us comfortably.
A drinks fridge would have been very useful, perhaps using half the freezer as a fridge.
More outdoor seating would have been appreciated as the weather was kind, which enabled us to spend a lot of time outdoors.
Some of the bedroom’s didn’t have a chest of drawers big enough to house clothing.
In spite of the other houses on the development we were very private.
