Over Big House Experience
Geschreven door het bedrijf
Our aim is simple: to offer truly wonderful experiences in truly exceptional houses, for groups of friends and families. We have curated our fabulous collection of large houses to rent with great care. Each and every house has been hand-picked with those truly wonderful experiences in mind. All have oodles of space, luxury as standard, and unique features that add the ‘wow’ factor.
We’re a family business. It started with just the two of us; husband and wife duo, Gareth and Claire Allen. We’re developing a team of lovely like-minded people around us as we grow, who will make sure we never lose that family business feel. And that means we’ll never lose that level of personal service that our wonderful guests have come to love.
We are selective. And unapologetically so. We feature only houses we’d be genuinely excited about staying in ourselves. It’s not about numbers for us – we’re happy to keep our collection of properties small and beautiful if that means we can recommend each property with confidence and pride.

An absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish.
Our group of 12 elderly cousins recently spent four nights here and had a most enjoyable time. Even though the weather was a bit miserable, the house was beautifully prepared and felt so welcoming the moment we walked in. The goody basket left for us was such a lovely treat, too! The layout was absolutely perfect for a group of our size. The main rooms were generous enough for all of us to gather together comfortably, but there were also plenty of smaller, cosy rooms when people wanted some quiet time. We spent a lot of time in the massive kitchen, where we could all gather for meals and help cook—though some of us definitely worked harder than others! The indoor swimming pool and sauna were well used and suitable for us all. We also enjoyed taking the short, peaceful walk right next to the brook, which was lovely. The house is definitely a bit remote, with the nearest shop over five miles away, but that total peace and quiet was exactly what we were looking for. It was a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it!

Fantastic house and location
The house was absolutely fantastic. The welcome package was incredibly generous and immediately made us feel welcome and at home. The quality of the furnishings was very high end and the greatest joy was that everyone had an amazing super king sized bedroom and ensuite, which impressed the whole family. The facilities were amazing and everything had been thought about so carefully. The whole experience was incredible and five stars does not do it justice.

Rippon Hall - a truly amazing experience
We had an absolutely fabulous week at Rippon Hall. The Hall itself was truly amazing - everything it promised to be from the Big House website, and more. 10 beautiful bedrooms with really comfortable beds, all with ensuite or adjacent bathrooms, period snooker room, piano room, dining room and library, large kitchen with everything you could possibly want to entertain 22 people. We were 20 adults and 2 children. We all fell in love with the house and grounds. We had a wonderful time playing croquet, swimming in the pool, lounging in the hot tub, playing table tennis, table football and darts and trampolining. The grounds are so beautiful to walk round. We were all sad to have to leave. We've stayed in many large houses over the years. They were all good, but Rippon Hall is the best. Big House Experience were very easy to deal with at every stage and super efficient at returning my deposit. Their virtual tour of the house is excellent and very accurate. The people we met at the Hall were very friendly and helpful. It really was superb.

Wonderful property for a large family birthday get together.
Very well equipped and done to a really high standard.
Property has a wonderful mix of history and being modern and being set across 3 buildings (next to each other) has a sense of freedom.
The pool is also an added bonus.

Amazing weekend stay
10 of us stayed at The Paisley Pig for my birthday and it was a fantastic place to visit. The house was so well equipped and with so much to do we had an amazing weekend.
The place was spotlessly clean and although there are a few lodges near by, we never heard anyone else. Highly recommend The Paisley Pig for any celebration

Fantastic house for a reunion
We had a wonderful time at Keswick Manor! The elegantly appointed Edwardian house was well equipped with plenty of character, the panoramic views from the front rooms were impressive, and the location was perfect for museums (pencil), hiking and Wordsworth - everything was great for our reunion - perhaps not the weather… 😂

Unbelievably good value - literally flawless
When we were looking for a large venue for a group celebration, we automatically went to AirBnB but were so frustrated at the quality and cost of everything available. Thank heavens we found Big House Experience as I cannot even begin to describe how perfect the venue was, and for such a good price! Flawless experience start to finish, having your own events concierge and a team of people who can help coordinate the perfect getaway. The venue choice was immense and we fell in love with Whitebrook House which ticked all our boxes. Honestly the pictures don’t do it justice, this place is breathtaking! I will definitely be using BHE again - huge thanks especially to Liz and Alexander for all their help!

Galpin Manor in Bridport
We celebrated a 90th at Galpin Manor in Bridport with a party of 14. Such an impressive Georgian building, beautifully furnished, extremely well equipped, immaculately clean and just a short walk to the centre of town. All rooms were incredibly spacious and, important for us, the ground floor bedroom was easily accessible by wheelchair and rollator, with no steps. Its large en-suite bathroom/wet room was also easily accessible, with no steps and no glass partitions which is perfect for those of us who are less mobile. If I may make a suggestion, it would have helped if the shower area had been equipped with handrails for additional support. Instead, we used a waterproof chair from the garden which served the purpose well. The dining room is huge with table seating for 22 people. This number was also reflected in the outside seating area where we were able to make good use of the gas BBQ. The games room was used on a daily basis and offered fun with a pool table and a table-tennis table. There was ample off-road parking directly on the property and the two queries that we did have were dealt with immediately by Sam, who was very welcoming and very helpful and no doubt responsible for our wonderful welcoming hamper of local goodies, for which we were extremely grateful. We were all in agreement that we would gladly return to this property and we would definitely recommend it to others. Thank you also to Big House Experience, in particular Liz, for making the booking process so straightforward.
