During your onboarding, we requested exactly three documents:

1. A passport photo — the absolute baseline requirement for any regulated financial institution worldwide.
2. Proof of address — we offered five different document options for you to choose from, to make this as convenient as possible.
3. Source of funds for crypto activity — since you indicated you would be trading cryptocurrencies, we are legally required, like every other bank or payment company, to verify that the funds involved are from a legitimate source.

We understand this may have felt like a lot, and we sincerely regret that it came across that way. But these three documents represent the minimum we need to open your account and, importantly, to let you operate freely — without the risk of funds being frozen down the line. Our slightly more thorough KYC process exists precisely to prevent the unexpected account blocks that are so common elsewhere. Once completed, our clients work with us comfortably and without interruption.

You came here to talk about my responsibility. Let us go through yours, line by line, using your own words.

Your final reply. Eight April 2026. Reference RC-22/08.04.2026.

You wrote: "the payee holding an account with us."
That is your merchant. You onboarded them. You conducted due diligence on them. You approved their Merchant Category Code. You are their payment service provider. You just confirmed it while trying to avoid responsibility for it.

You wrote: "we solely receive and credit funds in accordance with the instructions provided by the sender, in this instance, yourself."
My instruction was to deposit to a casino. The funds went to a digital goods merchant I had never heard of and never named. If you followed my instruction, the money would have gone to the casino. It did not. So either you did not follow my instruction, or your system routed it to your own merchant client. Either way, that sentence is not true.

You wrote: "The money was no longer in our possession."
Your own clause 9.5 gives you the right to reverse transactions involving unlicensed gambling. You had that right when my complaint arrived. You chose not to use it. Then you said the money was gone. You cannot disclaim a power you declined to exercise.

You wrote: "This is consistent with the information we hold on record."
Your records said gambling. Your MCC codes said digital goods. You confirmed this in your own letter and still refused to refund. Read that again slowly.

Now. Your Board approved the Risk Appetite Statement that should have prevented all of this on 31 March 2026. Six days after my complaint landed on your desk.

German law §4(1) GlüStV 2021 prohibits participation in payments connected to unlicensed gambling. The Higher Administrative Court of Saxony-Anhalt confirmed in Case 3 M 169/24 that payment providers on the German market must comply with German law. You market specifically to gambling operators at bilderlings. com/ gaming. You were not an accidental participant in this.

I am registered on Germany's national self-exclusion system. I self-excluded because I needed protection from gambling. Your payment infrastructure made that protection structurally impossible.

FCA complaint filed. Financial Ombudsman Service complaint filed. GGL, ICO and HBDI notified.

You built this business. You wrote these terms. Your Board approved this policy. Your records held this information.

Own it.

Worst onboarding process ever!

I decided to close my account due to a very frustrating and unprofessional onboarding experience.

The entire process felt poorly designed and inconsistent from the beginning. Even basic steps did not work properly. For example, I did not receive the required verification SMS and had to contact support just to proceed. Afterwards, I was forced to set up Authy for confirmations, which added unnecessary complexity.

Entering my address was another issue. The system required selecting a suggested address, but then rejected it because it contained commas and special characters. Only after contacting support I was told to remove these characters, which resulted in an incorrect address format.

The app itself appears buggy and unreliable. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable trusting this platform with my funds.

The onboarding itself felt rushed and inconsistent. Despite multiple issues during setup, the account was suddenly approved and I was told I could already start using it and transfer funds. However, as soon as I deposited my first (test) 100 EUR directly from my company account, the real compliance process only started. At that point, I was asked for extensive documentation that had not been requested during onboarding. This creates a misleading impression that the account is fully operational, only to face heavy verification afterwards. In my view, all compliance checks should be completed upfront before allowing deposits. I am honestly relieved that I withdrew my funds immediately, as the whole process felt unreliable and poorly handled.

The verification process was equally frustrating. I provided multiple documents, including personal and company bank statements and proof of income. Despite this, I repeatedly received vague responses stating that the documents were insufficient, without clear instructions on what was actually required. Each time I submitted additional information, new requests followed.

At one point, I was even given a very short deadline (only one day!) after an already lengthy and unclear process, which felt unreasonable.

To make matters worse, the system is so flawed that even closing the account is not straightforward.

Overall, the experience gave me the impression that the platform is disorganized, overly complicated, and not ready for serious use.

For these reasons, I decided not to proceed.

Update 13. April 2026:

However, I would like to clarify an important point, as your statement does not accurately reflect what happened in my case.

You mentioned that you did not receive clarification regarding the nature of the incoming funds. This is not correct. I explicitly explained multiple times that the funds represent income from my own company and clarified that these are not salary payments, but profit distributions / owner withdrawals.

In addition, I provided both personal and company bank statements showing the full flow of funds, from incoming business revenue to transfers to my personal account.

Despite these explanations and documents, I repeatedly received generic responses stating that the information was insufficient, without any clear guidance on what specific document was actually required. Each time I responded, new requests followed, often asking for similar information in a slightly different form.

This is exactly where the frustration comes from. The issue was not a lack of clarification on my side, but rather a lack of clear and consistent communication from your side regarding what would be considered sufficient.

Referring to the process as something that “could have been resolved quickly” does not reflect the actual experience. I was actively cooperating and providing documents, yet the requirements remained unclear throughout.

I fully understand and respect regulatory requirements. However, a structured and transparent process is essential, especially when dealing with international clients and business structures.

In your case, additional clarification was requested regarding the nature of incoming funds from your company. Specifically, we needed to understand the legal basis of those payments (e.g. salary, dividends, consulting fees, etc.). This is a standard and necessary step when transaction details do not clearly indicate the source or purpose of funds.

Such verification can typically be resolved quickly with supporting documents (for example, a contract or agreement). However, we did not receive this clarification, as the account closure request was submitted shortly after.

Regarding your broader feedback:

We acknowledge that some parts of the onboarding experience (including SMS delivery and address input) did not meet expectations. This is valuable feedback, and we are continuously working to improve these areas.
The request for additional documents after initial activation may feel unexpected, but in certain cases enhanced due diligence is triggered once account activity begins — this is part of regulatory compliance requirements.

We understand that these processes can feel complex. However, transparency regarding your activity and source of funds is key to ensuring a smooth experience — with us or with any other financial institution.
