I purchased a Blackbox AI subscription on 11 May 2026 at 9.20 for 19.99 USD (17.49 EUR). This was not intended to be renewed. Their system did not give any clear option to cancel or reject it at the time of purchase. The payment remained in authorization hold on my card ending in 7098. I requested a full refund within hours, well inside the mandatory 14 day EU withdrawal period.
They had a full day to simply release the authorization hold without ever claiming the funds. Instead they chose to process the charge anyway and sent the usual automatic bullshit reply claiming it would take up to 10 business days. This is nothing but a deliberate delaying tactic designed to frustrate customers and discourage refunds.
On top of that the service engages in clear false advertising. They promote access to models like Claude Sonnet 3.5 but in reality deliver much weaker versions such as Haiku. That kind of misleading marketing is highly dishonest.
I have seen multiple similar reports from other customers describing the exact same pattern, including large volumes of unauthorized charges, ignored cancellation requests and suspicious use of rotating Stripe merchant IDs. This does not look like the behaviour of a legitimate company.
I have already filed an official complaint with the Finnish Consumer Authority (KKV) today. I expect the full refund of 17.49 EUR to be processed and returned to my card immediately with proper confirmation.
Blackbox AI needs to do much better than this. Treating paying customers this way is completely unacceptable and damages trust in the entire service. I strongly advise others to avoid this company until they start respecting consumer rights and actually deliver what they advertise.

I tried using pro plan of Blackbox AI, yes it do provide access to newest model from other AI company such as ChatGPT, Kimi, Zen, Gemini, and Claude.

I tried to use the AI agent directly in the VS code as well, and it works fine, it can help in adding and modifying the code.

But some of the model sending incomplete response and cant be accessible. Hopefully this can be fixed in the future.

I purchased a 1-month subscription on April 15. From the first moment, the service did not work and I was never able to use the paid features.
I contacted support every day since then and followed all the troubleshooting steps they provided. The only response I receive is that the “technical team is working on it,” but there is no solution and no clear timeline.
It has now been more than 7 days without access to the service I paid for.
I have requested either:
1. A confirmed deadline for resolution, or
2. A full refund

So far, I have not received a concrete answer.

I will update this review if the issue is resolved.

27/4/2026 - Blackbox.ai reimbursed the subscrition.

BLACKBOX AI (Cours Connect, Inc.) charged my credit card 47 separate times between 2025 and March 2026, totaling USD 1,806.82, with NO active subscription and NO authorization from me.

I sent three written cancellation requests to Black Bock Support email on 3 August 2025, 4 August 2025, and 15 November 2025. All three were ignored. The unauthorized charges kept coming for months after the first cancellation.

Worse, the charges were processed through Stripe under FIVE different Merchant IDs for the same website (F39AAA39, W794MUOL, UF1ZVCGR, LBQMZGUF, I2L20VMJ). Rotating multiple MIDs across one product is a textbook indicator of transaction laundering — designed to evade fraud filters and chargebacks. No legitimate SaaS company needs five MIDs for one website.

They also issued 10 "refunds" that were later REVERSED by the merchant — essentially fake refunds.

When I finally escalated, they refused a full refund and offered only a vague "case-by-case" review.

I have filed formal complaints with the California DFPI (CN0043040), FTC ReportFraud (200346496), California Attorney General, FBI IC3, BBB, and eConsumer.gov / ICPEN. My Stripe complaint reference is sco_UMq1lDYwiJlvAd.

Avoid this company. If you are already a customer, check every card statement line-by-line and cancel immediately through your bank, not through their support.

I definitely do not recommend this service. Their marketing is extremely aggressive, and they present themselves as a high-quality platform, but in my experience, the reality is the exact opposite. They offer their Pro plan for $2 for the first month, so I decided to try it and see whether it was actually worth it. Honestly, it is not. The service only provides a very limited selection of AI models, and even those do not seem nearly as capable as advertised. I also got the impression that some of these models are set up to present themselves as "flagship" models, even though the actual results do not support that image. Another major issue is the overall user experience. The interface feels chaotic and poorly designed, and it lacks even basic features that users would normally expect from this kind of web application. For example, there does not seem to be any option to delete chat history, which is an important feature from both a usability and privacy standpoint. On top of that, some of the models do not respond at all, which makes the platform feel unreliable and unfinished.

Overall, my experience with this service was very disappointing. If someone wants to save those $2, they would be better off buying a small coffee, which would definitely be more useful than this service.

A scam company. Keep taking money from me, cannot log in and cancel due to them saying that my email is just a temp email, because I have a @me.com email. I have send multiple emails and also tried the chat, no one cares and no one answers.

Quite average AI tool that advertises advanced functionality which one can easily figure out locally. Argentic harness is not on the same level as the majority of the other tools, so that objectively there is little point to Blackbox.

Seems like the company is creating fake reviews, as somehow there is a bunch of folks whose only review is a positive one for Black Box, saying very generic comments that sound robotic and are not actually sharing anything about the real experience.

Customer support is either useless AI or very incompetent people. As I have clearly stated in my support request that I have no ability to download an invoice, I received the response that I can do it under a certain link, which is the place where I came from originally. I had to waste my time again showing them screenshots and explaining that their own system is not capable of doing that, which they look like they don't even know how it works. Since then I received no response.

Where to begin? .... I wanted to give the "service" a try for €1.74 for 30 days and boy, not good.

Just as the first information, I blocked the company to deduct money from my card, because as I wanted to write on the web-ui an advertisement popped up right before I clicked and I "made a purchase" of €83.71 for a pro plus subscription. WHAT? No confirmation no nothing, just direct payment. WOW. Good thing is that the transaction was immediately flagged as fraudulent, because the first payment was done in the exact same minute! This is some black pattern gangster web design right there.

What really gives a bad impression is that the logos aredifferent on the IDE intergration, the webpage and billing. Inconsistency everywhere.

1. It has two types of api keys, inference and mcp server. Why ?
2. There are models advertised that are not even there, getting direct errors, for the more expensive models no problem. And if someone thinks I had a typo, I copy/pasted the model ID's.
3. Different models for for API calls, Agents, CLI, web-ui and IDE integration. HOW and WHAT FOR?!
4. Way to complicated to try to find information you need and can use and "tinkering" which bloody model is available.
5. Support is not available anywhere you look, there is just a "Contact US" link that opens directly your email app. Well guess what, I'm the one that actually writes.

My 2 cents on this, not worth it, not even for this price. Spent way to much time trying to get it to work, and it is not even working like I want it to. Maybe I'm wrong and I will change this review. But if I don't change the review, I have screenshots of everything.

Blackbox AI is the best coding AI i’ve ever used. It has so many features and access to a bunch of other AI as well, depending on what you want. I would definitely recommend!!!

Helps me build useful websites with app builder feature, and I recently got a dollar trial subscription, so far so good +plus many agents to use 🙏

I've been running Blackbox CLI for about 6 weeks now and it's the best autonomous coding agent I've used. I was on Claude Code before — the context handling here is just better for large monorepos. I throw it a feature request in plain English, it reads the relevant files, writes a plan, executes it, and runs the tests. I barely touch the keyboard. The fact that I can switch between Claude, Gemini, and GPT-4o from one place without managing 4 different subscriptions is a massive win. This is what the future of coding looks like.

WORKS GREAT FOR MAORI LANGUAGE PROJECTS — SURPRISED ME
I work on projects that involve te reo Maori text processing. Most AI tools struggle with non-English languages and especially indigenous languages. Blackbox handled it better than I expected — it understood the context, helped me build a text normalization pipeline, and even suggested culturally appropriate approaches when I explained the use case. Genuinely impressed.

I'm a product designer who always wanted to implement my own designs. The gap between design and code felt impossible to cross. Blackbox CLI bridged it. I describe what I designed, it writes the React and CSS. I review it against my design, give feedback, it iterates. My designs are now live products. I have a completely different relationship with engineering now.

I started using Blackbox AI some time ago. I find it a really useful tool with many different resources to use. My experience was nothing but great 🤩
