After many attempts on getting a positive response or a response at all! I have successfully won a charge back for my hard earned money to come back to me.

Please please DO NOT ORDER from this sham of a business. No number to call or address. I'm sure they don't supply that info on their website due to all the negative responce they get.

Non existent customer service. Sent 3 emails with no response

1 butterfly arrived already hatched, poor things wings were deformed where it had beeb squashed by being packed in a very flat plastic container. The 2nd butterfly did hatch okay but died the next day. Wouldnt use this company again!

As another reviewer has posted, if I could give a rating of ZERO STARS that would be my response.
I won't write a lengthy description of my experiences. In brief, ordered eggs of a specific species of silk moth in August 2023 which were indicated to be in stock. Nothing arrived, subsequently excuse offered and accepted that they would be supplied in 2024. Ordered eggs of another species in spring 2024. Only 50% of these supplied and of those hardly any were fertile. Following non-arrival in 2024 of my original order placed in 2023 and my experience with second order, contacted B&B. Poor excuses offered and no refund received. Contacted B&B numerous times in 2025 but have received no responses. My personal ordering page detailing the non-fulfilled orders deleted from website. Now not anticipating any responses nor refunding of my monies.
All of this will sound very familiar to the many others who have documented comparable or even worse experiences.
Have written to Trading Standards to see if they can take action. Would suggest others do the same. Spread the word, DO NOT PLACE ORDERS WITH THIS BUSINESS. AVOID

I placed an order for some ‘ready to despatch’ butterflies. 7 weeks later still waiting! 3 weeks ago received a message stating butterflies will be despatched soon. Still no butterflies. Reading previous reviews indicates that this is a regular occurrence. Very poor service.

Well my order turned up today! There was no issues ordering and receiving my order but i did not check the full costs before ordering and still do not understand what the random tax charge was. My fault, however, i emailed to query this half a dozen times and had zero response. There is no phone number and pointless sending emails to this company. If you had a real issue then forget it. Will never touch this ignorant company again!

I have ordered 3 times and I've been so impressed every time!!

The cocoons have come wrapped safely in cotton and cardboard. Speedy too - usually within a week!

I have just raised my first African Moon Moths and I love them so much. Don't listen to the reviews - I have no idea what they're on about aha.

Scam! They took my money but never delivered the order!! Zero response to my emails! Do not order from here! I placed my order in august 2024, still no order or contact in august 2025! I should have checked reviews before I ordered. Please look yourselves, countless people say the same! I have reported them as a scam site!

So no communication no caterpillar eggs & it’s been over a month wish I’d seen these reviews. Updating this review as the eggs have arrived two months later, there are no instructions & I feel bad as we are heading into Autumn. My feedback would be explicitly state that there will be a 2month lead time & please give better care instructions

A complete scam of a business. Will take you money send bad quality eggs and missing order but refuse to speak to you about it. Many many emails and no responses. Disgusting. I am trying to find out company info to take them to small claims court. Do not use!!

Looking through the site got me so excited wanting to buy a lot of different caterpillars put a massive order into my cart then looked at all of these reviews i changed to just a one item order and it arrived it was well packaged and all my cocoons where a live not a bad word to say on this company will be buying from them again my kids are so excited

Few year's later still all I see is butterfly .
I never got or have the choice to buy the Rana Temporaria that I paid for and I was promised they told me that the credit £170 still active to future purchases however where are the frogs all I get in my emails is butterfly butterfly no seen one single frog to buy so we still in the same situation after nearly 3 years and forget about answering your email, the are not even polite enough to reply.
My frogs 🐸 mean a lot to me so now I will never have them in my indoor Pond.

Ordered a month ago despite the website saying there was stock available. Had to send about six emails before getting a generic, unhelpful response and then it was radio silence. I’ve been receiving automated emails about “August Stock” which claims that there’s surplus availability, yet it’s been a month since I submitted my order.

I ordered caterpillars for my daughter's birthday last August. Repeated emails apologizing for the delay and promises to get them out to me. Then an email to say that the owner's health hasn't been good, and this had lead to backlogs etc, and an offer to choose different livestock or defer to next season. Her birthday has long passed, and disappointment in the past so opted to defer so we could have butterflies this summer. Stuart had emailed to say credit would automatically be applied. I've tried to order this year, no credit available, emailed owner on 21 August, no response. I'm out of pocket and never received any caterpillars. I regret ordering, trusting and would advise others to steer clear. I hope the owner sees this and considers whether he should be operating given the circumstances.

AVOID! I placed my order July 2024, by August 2025 and numerous emails, I am still waiting on my refund as order never received.

I wanted to write a positive review for this company, as a handful of orders were good.

However, of late, I absolutely do NOT recommend anyone to order from this company.

I ordered 40 garden tiger moth caterpillars, and I only received 19 out of the 40 that I was owed.

No response to my emails, no refund for the missing caterpillars, and no updates as to when I would receive the caterpillars that I was owed. I also paid £16.35 for delivery of 50 caterpillars. An absolutely flagrant amount of money, and an absolute money grabbing rip off.

I was more patient than this company deserves.

Avoid this company.

I’ve checked their website to see what was available and ordered accordingly. They’ve cancelled my orders a couple of times and said they’ve refunded or given credit. It never happens. Very slow to message back, if ever! Placed order with Shop and it just disappeared. Will be reporting to my bank as fraud.

My map butterflies arrived as pupae but emerged as freaks. Only got one good out of it. ALSO - The price for delivery seems inflated and I hate it when they suddenly add on VAT at the end so the price jumps again.

Waiting for mounths my order…. NEVER ARRIVED. No answers, no emails.

Still has the nerve to send out availability emails. I've blocked them now. I can't believe people are still ordering from them. How much evidence do you need?

I find these reviews very concerning, as I worry I am experiencing a similar problem to so many others. I ordered some butterfly eggs in early June, and was immediately informed "We're getting your order ready to be shipped". A month later the eggs still had not arrived, so I sent an email asking for an update. That email was received by Bugs & Butterflies, but there was no response at all to it. It's now August and in the past few days I have tried sending 3 more emails. There is no indication on gmail that these 3 emails were even received by them so I fear their email system is not working now.

When I first put in the order, I was informed that the eggs would be sent 'in the summer', which slightly conflicted with the initial suggestion that they were 'getting the order ready for shipping'. The eggs still haven't arrived, nearly two months after ordering. I recognise that summer is not yet over, but two things concern me. First, the ordered species is tropical, and I worry summer will be over before they ever arrive. I won't have much time to enjoy them! Second, in view of the absence of any communication about this since 13th June, in conjunction with the reports of so many others here, I am beginning to worry the order will not be delivered at all. I write this at this time in the hope that Bugs & Butterflies read this before it is too late to address the issue. If they can reply and deliver the order as requested in the very near future - or refund my payment - I will cerainly favourably amend this experience review, or delete it if they wish.
