I wanted to make chocolate that tasted like chocolate should. Proper cacao, proper cocoa butter, no palm oil, and no added sugar... but most importantly, something people genuinely enjoy eating.
So reading your comments about going back to basics really made me smile.
I'm delighted you've discovered us, and I hope you have fun working your way through the rest of the range. Everyone seems to have a different favourite... although Orange Chocolate does seem to have built up quite a fan club! 😄

Chocolate without the usual consequences
Takes about a week to get it because they make it to order. Tastes a bit bitter to start with while you ween yourself off the sugar that other companies drown your chocolate in but after a few bars you appreciate the finer quality chocolate that DGF supply.
The fact there’s no added sugar is great to help prevent diabetes.
I have just placed my second order.

You've actually described something I hear quite often. When people first move away from very sweet chocolate, it can take a little while for their taste buds to adjust. Then suddenly they start noticing the cacao, the flavour and all the things that get hidden when chocolate is loaded with sugar.
The fact you've already placed a second order tells me everything I need to know...thank you 😄
Thank you as well for mentioning that we make everything to order. It does mean waiting a few extra days, but it also means your chocolate is made fresh rather than sitting on a shelf somewhere.

Back in 2015, when my wife was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I started making chocolate because I wanted there to be a genuinely delicious option for people trying to reduce their sugar intake. So hearing that it's become a lovely treat for someone living with type 2 diabetes means a lot.

Just a huge disappointment.
When I first saw the reels on social media for this I was dubious but after seeing the response online and the reviews I thought I would give them a go. It is certainly looked expensive for what is was but if its less sugar and tastes nice, then it would be worth it.
Alas, I've been massively disappointed. I'm sorry but the chocolate tastes really bad. The aftertaste is awful and the texture is dry. It's such a shame as it smells amazing.
After then rechecking their social media adverts I found some dishonesty in there. They show modern big name chocolate as like rubber, this is just misinformation, they are just showing you chocolate after it has been melted slightly, but we arent meant to know that. They also stated that some large chocolate brands have been investing in lab grown cacao, this is true but what they didn't tell you is that none of those companies are currently using that lab grown chocolate in their products. This is misleading at the moment.
They also state that my delivery would be with me in a couple of working days, it took just under 2 weeks to arrive.
I get that they are a small business and I REALLY wanted to like them but it's been a massive let down.
By all means if you have 10 quid to blow on a single (small) chocolate bar then give it a try, loads of other people seem to like it. Seems like I'm in the minority, IF you believe the reviews.
Edit: after reading the reply I would like to say thank you for being gracious and understanding. I hope many people love your product and you succeed in your goals, I want small businesses to increase in this country.
I would say that maybe place a disclaimer on some of your reels just to cover yourself as you're not covering some important info.
I've increased my rating by a star simply due to your fast and gracious reply. I hope you have a load of success. I'm just sorry it wasn't for me.
Edit 2: Thank you for the offer of the refund, that is very much appreciated. However, I still like to support small businesses and even though the product wasnt for me, thats my taste buds issue, not yours. Thank you again but I'll decline the refund. Added another star just because of your offer.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the chocolate. Taste is subjective, and while many customers love what we make, it's perfectly fair that it wasn't to your liking. If you didn't enjoy the flavour, texture, or aftertaste, then I respect your opinion.
There are a couple of points I'd like to clarify for anyone reading.
Regarding the videos showing chocolate melting, I have never claimed that a standard bar of supermarket chocolate will behave that way at room temperature. In those videos, I explicitly melt both our chocolate and supermarket chocolate to demonstrate the difference in how they behave when heated. The purpose is to show differences in ingredients and manufacturing, not to suggest that supermarket chocolate naturally turns to rubber while sitting on a shelf.
Similarly, when discussing lab-grown cacao, I've spoken about investment and development within the industry. You're quite right that major chocolate manufacturers are not currently using lab-grown cacao in their products. The point I was making was about where parts of the industry may be heading in the future, not what is currently on supermarket shelves today.
On delivery times, our website states a turnaround time of 3–5 working days, with delivery itself usually taking around 2 working days once dispatched. If your order genuinely took close to two weeks to arrive, then that's something I'd be happy to investigate, as it would be very unusual.
You also mentioned price, and I completely understand that our chocolate isn't the cheapest option.
Unfortunately, handmade chocolate made with high-quality ingredients and without sugar is significantly more expensive to produce than mass-manufactured alternatives.
That won't make sense for everyone, and that's absolutely fine. As you started and ended with this point I suspect it would have been difficult to have won your heart over lol

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A chocolate brand that genuinely cares and you can taste it.
I've tried plenty of "guilt-free" chocolate over the years, and most of it tastes exactly like what it is, a compromise. Deliciously Guilt Free is different.
What sets DGF apart isn't just the chocolate itself (though it's genuinely delicious), but the passion behind it. Dan clearly obsesses over what goes into his products. The ingredients are thoughtfully chosen, the health credentials are real, and nothing about it feels like a cynical health-food afterthought. This is proper chocolate made by someone who actually cares.
There's something you notice when you buy from a small, passionate maker versus a big brand: you can feel the difference in every detail, from the care in the packaging to the quality of the bar. The big names are chasing margins. Dan is chasing something better.
I'm a returning customer, and I'll keep coming back. When you find something this good that's also better for you, you don't let it go.
If you're on the fence, just order. You won't regret it.

Reading reviews like this means a lot because this is exactly what I set out to create.
Back in 2015, my wife was diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant with our daughter. Like many people, she suddenly found that the foods she enjoyed were off the menu. I spent hours in the kitchen trying to create something that tasted like proper chocolate without the sugar spike. A lot of those early attempts were terrible, but eventually I got there.
So when you say it doesn't feel like a compromise, that's probably the biggest compliment you could give me.
You're also absolutely right that every detail matters. We are a small business, which means I still spend a lot of time thinking about ingredients, recipes, packaging and customer feedback. Sometimes I think about chocolate more than is entirely normal!

We received our first order
Included in the parcel was a handwritten letter from Dan, personally welcoming us as customers. In a world of automated emails and mass-produced products, that simple gesture spoke volumes about the pride he takes in his business and the value he places on his customers.
Me and my wife tried a strip of the Milk Chocolate Orange bar. As soon as we opened it, the orange aroma was strong and inviting, and thankfully the taste was every bit as good as the smell. The chocolate is smooth, rich, and genuinely enjoyable.
What surprised me most was that, for the first time in years, I didn't feel the urge to keep eating. Normally, once I open a chocolate bar, I would happily demolish the whole thing. With Dan's chocolate, a single strip was enough to satisfy me. Whether that's because it doesn't contain all the ingredients that encourage overindulging, I don't know, but it certainly felt different.
It's not the cheapest chocolate on the market, and I appreciate that may put some people off. However, if the rest of the bars are as good as the first one, I believe it represents good value because a bar is likely to last much longer than a standard supermarket chocolate bar.
Thank you, Dan, for the warm welcome and the obvious care that goes into both your products and your customer service. We're looking forward to trying the rest of the flavours, although at the rate we're going, having just a strip at a time, they may last us a few weeks yet!

After being type1 diabetic for 49 years I was tempted to try this product and I'm so glad I did ,unlike any other "diabetic chocolate " I've tried in the past this is a tasty chocolate so much so I've bought another chocolate bar selection from Dan at deliciously guiltfree.

Good chocolate, limited range, bad marketing practices
I have type 2 diabetes, love chocolate, but am very sensitive to artificial sweeteners - Dan has got the balance just right with his product. I still can't eat a lot, but at least I can enjoy some. I also like the ethos behind what Dan is doing. I am disappointed that the white chocolate appears to have disappeared from the available list.
Less appealing are the number of emails that Dan sends out - there are way too many! Also, not a lot of info regarding the order I placed 5 days before the time of writing - Shop says it is still awaiting information. I recognise that it can take up to 5 working days to produce the order ready for dispatch, but could do with clearer info on the tracking side.
To conclude, great chocolate, great ethos, too many emails, poor order tracking. Can do better!

I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about replying, given your views on my emails. The last thing I wanted to do was send you yet another message 'from Dan!' lol
I'm delighted you've enjoyed the chocolate and that we've managed to get the sweetener balance right for you. That's something I spent a very long time working on.
On the white chocolate front, fear not. It's currently having a little rest rather than disappearing forever. It will be available soon for our chocolate club members.
As for the emails and tracking, fair criticism on both counts. I probably do get a bit overexcited and send more emails than is strictly necessary, and I agree that we can do a better job of keeping customers updated while their chocolate is being made and prepared for dispatch. It's all made fresh to order and as we grow that does put strain on the turn around times, however we are still working within our 3 to 5 working days turnaround and then sending tracking info as usual.

Much nicer than I expected
I've been watching the advertisements and eventually decided to give the chocolate bars a go. The first taste was different but I soon warmed to the taste. I would finish of other chocolate bars very quickly. Now I know that is the effect of a sugar spike. These bars were so different. Very tasty but they didn't give the need to have more. I was satisfied with a strip of four blocks off the bar and no craving for more. It means that the bars last much longer and I have had enough to satisfy me. I've placed another order so that says something.

This chocolate is a game changer for me ! Type 2 diabetic and have a sweet tooth. I have been having this now for my sweet tooth need and as a result have been able to cut out all the other chocolate . Real chocolate, as it should be.
As a diabetic, I was attracted by the offer of dark chocolate, made with no sugar. Also this chocolate, unlike the well known names, is made with proper cacao, and cacao butter. Not the least they can get away with and industrial oils and lots of sugar. I had to try it. What you get, is proper chocolate. It smells like chocolate, breaks with a satisfying snap, like chocolate once did. The flavour is intense and very satisfying. Proper chocolate! The passion for doing the job right comes through in the product. Here, you actually get what you paid for!
