If I could give no stars I would. Electric Kiwi is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are utterly incompetent. You ask for callbacks (as they have no call centre) and they send emails three days later telling you your problem is solved, without actually asking what the problem is or phoning?

We have been waiting for over a month to resolve an issue which their team caused but keep receiving useless emails from overly patronising customer service representatives that basically tell us to go away.

Do not use electric kiwi!

Omg what a night mare we have had with electric kiwi.
Impossible to get anything sorted on live chat ..5hen they say they will make phone contact and never do

A few years ago I would have rated 5 star but as a loyal customer, I now feel ripped off. I made very good use of the free hour of power and was then penalized severely. The new Electric Kiwi rates are now $200 per month higher than best competition and way higher for the same area in town if I were to join Electric Kiwi as a new customer. I have changed provider to Flick as of today. Be wary!

Worse provider I've ever dealt with in my life, had their billing system error, send huge bills and took money from my bank account without permission. Trying to get my money back but they never get back until 1 month later and make all the process complicated, I am still waiting for my money to be reimbursed. Please don't waste your time with Electric Kiwi

I moved to electric kiwi from genesis not knowing what to expect but the experience so far has been great 😀 "credit where credits due" over the years been with numerous power companies and to date has been the cheapest yet I like the fact can adjust the hour of power so if I plan to do lots of washing I just adjust it and try to get all done in the hour electric kiwi sends invoice every Sunday and debits "from my account anyway" on a Thursday I've never had a problem with them there customer service seems to be OK the negatives if I can find one is the fact that there's no calling number but that's no issue in a digital world you communicate to them either via email or like many other companies a live chat feature responses are prompt I can't comment on there internet as only have power with electric kiwi in the process of moving atm so decided to stay with them 😀

Wish I read this first. OMG what a COLLOSSIAL MISTAKE in going to them.
RUN PEOPLE they won't call don't know what they are doing. The CS team had NO IDEA. CANCELLED within a month. Got s new provider. No internet for 2 weeks. Can't talk to anyone. 2 days gor s call back. SERIOUSLY..... JUST DONT.

By and far the most terrible experience, after being a loyal customer for 3 years. They ignored the scheduled termination date for my services at the end of my billing period, and instead terminated my account immediately because I was changing provider. Immature and unhelpful support staff, it's exhausting for something which should be so simple.

Charging a hideous price.

Yes, my fault for not keeping a laser eye in the rates they charged, but it was not only what amounts to about 1500 a year more expensive than competition, it’s 1500 a year more than another plan they could have and should have offered.

Do not trust these guys at all.

I was away for about 2 months and yet my electric power meter charged me with fluctuating up and down rate!! I kept talking to customer service abt my complaint why i was being charged? It should only very minimal and consistent for 2 months instead of high and low fees with no user at all. Customer service is like a bot talking nonsense, getting round and round and round useless talk but no resolution on complaint and yet still charged me! Until now no one answer on my complaints and Still AUTO-DEBITED MY BANK ACCOUNT even i already requested to stop with NO AUTHORITY until resolve on this suspicious meter charge fees. This needs to alarm the customers. No customer service you can talk. Terible!

terrible, would not recommend to anyone. we have our power and wifi through them and the wifi requires an extender in our flat that is less than 160sqm even though it claims to work up to 160sqm without one. even with the extender it still doesnt work in some of our rooms. there is no call centre or no where to contact someone immediately and instead you have to communicate with them through livechat which is a big fck around and extremely time consuming. will not be joining with them again.

Got an email out of the blue congratulating us on our move to Auckland, and that our address in ChCh would be disconnected in favour of this Akl address on DD/MM/YY --- what?!?! Tried contacting them via email, FB messaging, Live Chat and requesting call backs - beware, they do not have a call center, and the LiveChat is 99% standard "calming" auto responses, which drive you around the bend. It's virtually impossible to talk to a person to get a problem solved. Switched instantly once I realized their famous "customer service" was just based on the good fortune of not having had to contact them before now.

Electric Kiwi will pretend to be the good guys. There new plans will be competitive but they will move existing customers progressively onto worse and worse rates.

They wrote to me with one of their regular holier than tough emails berating the big rip off customers Meridian, Contact etc.
When I checked they were charging me more that the companies they are claiming are a rip off.
Check your electric Kiwi plan regularly or they will fleece you for a fortune.

I change to EK because powerswitch said they where the cheapest than my current supplier. After 2 full months my power has been higher that my old supplier. And 1 hour free power is starts at 9pm to 6am and again at 9am to 4pm No good to me as I need to sleep to get up early for work and not home during the day. Why do I get charged 1% if I chose to pay my bill directly from my bank account?

No customer service. Wouldn't respond to any and all applications for assistance and shut down my chats when they couldn't help me. It's been a nightmare, I can't access Internet I need for work.

Been a customer for nearly 3 years and experience was pretty good until a letter suggesting switch to their broadband. (Switch or you prices likely to go up in next 12 months. Twist my arm maybe??)
So tried to connect the new wifi router to my fibre connection. Should be easy but it wasn’t, 5 days of frustration, Customer service was non existent. They call it awesome?? But I couldn’t get any responses unless via “live” chat and a door mail. Something that should be simple wasn’t. So I emailed them my intention to leave and quit the power and broadband. No reaction. I made a quick switch to Frank Energy, super fast, easy and saved $25plus on power. Switched to HotShot and got my modem next day and connected in a month mute or two. Ie as it should be.
Only when the power co advised them of the change did Electric Kiwi email me to see if I really wanted to change. Awesome service indeed. The change was a bit frustrating but resulted in better service and a lower cost.

This company keep threatening me every few days that they will cut me off
I keep paying there bill and few days later say your about to be cut off again
All they do is threaten me.
I’m paying them so much money.
Then I finally got intouch and said my payments havnt gone through. I then showed them bank statements and said sorry all good now
Until next week when they threaten me once again

I believe there scammers also terrible customer service and can only speak online

Was with electric kiwi for about 6 months each month they would send me the bill - but add an extra $200 ish to it. Then would hit them up and they would say sorry my bad & put the bill back down to normal. Then they started to say I didn’t pay my bill & because of an error on their end I had to re pay it again. Sent them all the proof of payment and got confirmation from bank that it definitely didn’t bounce back etc. they have now taken me to baycorp & there’s nothing I can do about it. This company is shocking and I don’t recommend and I hope they get shut down asap!!!!!

Do not use this company they will over charge and attempt to manipulate more money. I 💯 believe this company has turned into a scam. They added $200 on day zero telling me it was an error. They did not fix it and kept pretending nothing happened just reminding me to pay. I've paid my bill in full and I refuse to pay that extra. While switching companies with a power switch website they also said allot of customers are complaining about Electric Kiwi.

I have had an awful experience with Electric Kiwi. I haven't posted on Trust Pilot prior but feel like I have been gaslighted by Electric Kiwi and it is my duty as a consumer to share my experience.
I concur with other users who state Electric Kiwi were fine until there was a problem. My problem was my meter board which became obsolete and needed replacing. Without getting caught up in the technicalities, Electric Kiwi sent me a prosperous bill stating they had not charged me for months as they couldn't read my meter. They also said I hadn't paid my broadband in this period. I responded with evidence of all my payments in this period. I to date still have not got a response. They bombarded me with emails with bills of varying amounts and no one has answered my question and I believe I have been over charged large amounts of money. I have asked for a senior manager to review but they either ignore me or respond with an obscure, incompressible answer. I would recommend avoiding in the eventuality of an issue. It has been a very stress inducing experience.

Recently Electric Kiwi degraded their website. Net result - gone is the daily usage graph in favour of a meaningless, tiny baby scrawl. Instead having the data to make an informed call when to use your "hour of power" now it's pot luck. Changing the "hour of power" has been made more difficult for anyone without a supermouse. And time slots are offered, only to be then declined as invalid.
