I've used a couple of other online accounting systems in the past, including Xero. But I much prefer Ember.

Why? With a monthly fee that's less than Xero's, my bank transactions are automatically imported into Ember, like Xero. Pretty much anything I could do in Xero, I can do in Ember.

However, one big, and awesome, difference that Xero can't compete with is I can talk to one of Ember's accountants and support team via live chat. And if I need to go into detail on a specific issue I can book a call with an Ember accountant.

This has been handy as I'm new to the tax system in the UK. And when you have a burning question, you need answers, fast.

The Ember team members who I have connected with -- Erin, Sophie, David, Steven, Tas, Katie, Martin, Lucy, Sarah, Adam, Taimur and Dan -- have all been really professional and helpful.

Do yourself a favour and experience the future of accounting.

As a small business owner, I've found Ember to be an invaluable partner. The platform is user-friendly and perfect for my business needs, making things I used to worry about ( e.g. accounting and tax deadlines) very simple indeed.

Particularly this year they have helped me navigate the complexities of preparing annual accounts (which I've had a nightmare in the past with other accountants). Their team provided expert guidance every step of the way - thank you Ember!

There has been one or two very small issues but I have found their customer support team to be outstanding and quick to sort.

Had a few issues but the team have been great since and gone above and beyond to fix said issue.

From day one EMBER was a nightmare to deal with. Everything went wrong. From updating companies house, submitting to HMRC.. Everything. Ember has costed my busines dearly in wastign outr time and accounting mistakes. Honestly there was not one thing that ran smoothlly. To date no employee can open their payslips as Embers 'passwords' do not follow their notations. No support. Bad attitude and worst utter incompetence. Give your business a fighting chance use Xero or FreeAgent. Avoid these clowns.

Probably great if you’re really experienced in managing your accounts absolutely terrible if you are starting your first business. Firstly I’m immensely shocked and surprised that the customer support team at Ember think it’s appropriate or ok to shame customers for struggling with understanding the accounts filing process and making mistakes. Their response towards me literally moved me to tears. It was my company’s first year in business and I made a lot more money than I expected, this is an achievement I’m extremely proud of and managing the accounts side of things has been a difficult learning curve that Ember and the staff were supposed to be helping me with. I’ve struggled using the tool and the support has been demoralising in more ways than one.

To get judgement and shame for making mistakes is abhorrent and unacceptable in my opinion. I have since found an accountant who has been a great help.
When I expressed concerns about my experience to someone I was told that I shouldn’t be doing this if I don’t even know certain accounting jargon phrases. I was astonished that this was the response instead of empowering me to get better at managing my accounts I was discouraged so violently. I doubt this even matters to the team as no one at Ember seems receptive to improving but it’s worth a try if I can warn other start up founders and new business owners. They will make you feel small, diminish your efforts, use confusing jargon and intimidate you to try and get you to use their accounting service which I used and still ended up with £9k extra added to my tax bill. They put this down to me filling out the questionnaire wrong which I can take responsibility for however if they aren’t supporting me in catching mistakes I’m better off not working with them, that’s why I would want to use their service.

Overall, horrendous experience I deeply regret working with Ember and giving them my hard earned money. The violent disrespect and attitude from customer service genuinely shocked me, HMRC is intimidating enough I need someone on my side and Ember are defo not on your side. Again a bit of compassion and genuine support goes an awful long way as going into business for yourself is a scary and extremely difficult experience and is a path littered with hardship and pitfalls. Judging, shaming and looking down on the customers who may be struggling but ultimately drive your business forward doesn’t seem like an awfully effective business plan to me. I can’t imagine speaking to my customers the way the Ember staff spoke to me.

Awesome service, nice clean buses and cheap as chips. Keep up the good work, your making other services look like a horse and cart..

Been a customer for more than a year now. Can only say good things about Ember. I was looking for a straightforward all-in-one solution, rather than having to find an accountant and then pay extra for accounting software (That's just too many choices to make without real support or advice). Ember was a great find, and they haven't disappointed. Really easy to link my bank account, review my transactions, etc. and their customer support has proven to be very responsive and helpful. They keep me up to date at key moments like confirmation statements and annual accounts. Worry-free accounting.

Been with Ember for nearly 2 years now, and like the last review I made here, it's been a breath of fresh air. Doing corporation tax has never been my thing but Ashleigh answered every question in such detail I had nothing else to ask which helped me feel confident about the whole thing. Outstanding communication, and turnaround timeline. Cant recommend enough

I have been with Ember for around two years now and it has been one of the best moves I made for my company accounts. I previously used clunky, non intuitive software with a lot of accountancy shpeel. The Ember platform makes it much simpler to manage and their team are super helpful. Highly recommend.

Ember's online accounting software is excellent, I use Revolut and the profit first book keeping system and Ember allows me to reconcile my accounts extremely quickly. I almost look forward to doing it now! Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and communicate well. Highly recommended.
