Great welcome from the staff
Great welcome from the staff. The Fort is well kept with excellent displays explaining its past and its role in protecting Dartmouth from intruders. It also played its part in the second world war. The freedom to move around its various buildings and levels made it interesting for the grandkids in particular. Good value for money. Great views of the River Dart

I had a problem booking advance tickets…
I had a problem booking advance tickets to Carlisle Castle online from the U.S.. I sent an email to English Heritage. They responded quickly, requesting all necessary information. They then booked the tickets for me and sent me a payment link which worked perfectly.

What a hidden and delightful place
What a hidden and delightful place. We used the audio tour which was so one of the best we’ve heard. Enough to bring the castle to life but not overdone! The cafe was very good with a range of lunches and teas with cake. Everyone friendly and helpful. Only room for 30 ish cars n the official car park is worth some consideration.

We enjoyed a picnic in the beautiful gardens before visiting the Priory and the house. What a peaceful setting it was.
We will definitely return to Mount Grace Priory again.

Excellent visit to Conisborough Castle
We arrived in the sun after a somewhat wet and showery day…. Only one other family were there at the time. The staff were welcoming and encouraging towards our grandchildren.
Unfortunately my husband became a little unwell….. the staff were amazing and supportive until he was feeling better.
Conisborough Castle is relatively local to us and great afternoon out. The children enjoyed the craft and puzzle activities.

Very helpful and friendly service
My wife and I recently joined English Heritage. We signed up at Beeston Castle, Cheshire, and the lady serving us was friendly and helpful, going over everything in detail. When we got home (over three hundred miles to the south) we lost the windscreen parking sticker that formed part of our package, so I requested by e-mail a replacement. We received a prompt reply letting us know that a new one would be with us within a couple of weeks. So again, more friendly and helpful service. Thank you! And we’re going to enjoy all the new sites now open to us.

Had to contact English Heritage about renewing our membership as the renewal pack hadn’t arrived and there was an issue with our online membership area. Great day out with the grandchildren…
Great day out with the grandchildren aged 11 and 8. This was our first visit to Battle Abbey and we were very impressed with the organisation and layout. Staff all seemed to be very friendly and helpful. The individual audio description tours were easy to use and to follow, and are extremely informative. The grandchildren remained engaged throughout our visit, from the film and displays in the Visitor centre, right through to the battlefield tour and the church/ monastery areas. They were also very impressed with the “hampster wheel” in the play area! I would certainly recommend a visit here, especially for older children as there is so much to see, do and learn.

Walmer castle is full of wonderful history. The chap who ran the free tudor history tour of the castle was very informative and knowledgeable. The garden is beautiful. We had a lovely day there

Witley Court and Gardens beautiful day
Witley Court and Gardens was a wonderful place to visit. Stephen took us to a place in the grounds and talked about the history and families that had lived there. He was very nice to listen to and his enjoyment came through. Please pass on our thanks to him if possible.
The whole experience was fantastic and we spent at least 4 hours in total also visiting the Secret Tearooms for a late breakfast 😋

I went to Stonehenge with friends on…
I went to Stonehenge with friends on Thursday 27 August and had a great day out. Beautiful visitors centre and site and luckily great weather. I want to give a big shout out for two EH staff who were helpful, patient and knowledgeable and, made the day even more enjoyable. Katy and Lorraine were so kind and pleasant. Thank you too you both, you are a credit to EH.
