I’ve used Garden Wildlife Direct for years, but this experience has really put me off. I ordered 300 fat balls, which arrived in two boxes of 150. One box was perfect — the other had 20–30 completely smashed balls. Their customer service then tried to claim this was “within 10%” by pretending the damage was out of 300, not the single damaged box. Very cheeky.

They also don’t make it clear at checkout that they expect up to 10% of the balls to arrive broken, which feels misleading. The tone of the replies was dismissive and didn’t acknowledge the actual issue: one box arrived damaged and not in satisfactory condition.

A disappointing experience from a company I’ve used for years. I’ll be buying my bird food elsewhere from now on.

Update – after going back and forth with the team, I was offered a 10% discount in the form of reward points. In other words, I received bird food that isn’t suitable for my fat ball feeder, and their solution was for me to spend even more money with them. I simply wanted to be made whole.

I ordered 12 kilos of suet pellets and the packaging was terrible with the paper thin plastic sticking to the box tape making decanting it a tedious and miserable experience.

How about considering the convenience of the customer when designing the packaging of your product? I for one won't be a returning customer.

My go-to company for seeds, sunflower hearts, mealworms and accessories. The products are of excellent value and quality. The no grow no mess premium seed really is no grow no mess. My feeders are filled every morning and ground feed is distributed several times daily. Nothing is left by dusk. My disinfectant for the feeders and baths is ordered with my weekly seed orders and everything arrives swiftly, well packaged and on time.
The website is so easy to use and the variety of products stocked phenomenal.
I've been using GWD for a number of years now - I've never been let down and happily fully recommend 🙂

Wow!!! Ordered yesterday and received today. What a result. Have been waiting 12 days for bird food supplies from a major Pet Food Superstore. Twice parcels returned due to courier incompetence, no apology, incredibly dense customer service staff. Finally lost my rag and looked elsewhere. Can't believe that I ordered this yesterday morning and it arrived lunchtime today. Two heavy packages, properly packed and delivered with a smile by DPD. If only I had saved myself all the stress over the last few years with constant problems with the other major retailer. Top of my list now, thank you.

Second month in a row that DPD have not delivered order,and no help on phone.Called GWD and spoke to an agent called Steve.
Without going into all the details he sorted the problem in a really professional and helpful way.
Cannot sing his praises high enough!

Good products at good prices. I'm a long time customer.

Orders always despatched miraculously quickly, even on Bank Holiday weekends and arrive within time specified. Not checked recently but prices seem very competitive with other suppliers. Been using for several years and will continue to do so if the level of service is maintained. Particularly like use of paper sacks for Sunflower hearts and hope this might be extended to other products.

Great company. Delivery very quick and good pricing. I had an issue with one of the items and customer services responded very quickly and sent replacement parts which arrived the following day.

Always have a very good service from Garden Wildlife Direct. Nothing is too much bother is a parcel goes astray for whatever reason or if you have ordered the wrong bird food a quick phone call or email does the trick. Prices on their bird food is competitive too.

The prices are good and the customer contact also very good as well as the product. My problem was that it all came in one very heavy box when it could have just as easily come in to easier to manage boxes.
