Let down by poor communication
I had seen a course that was free to study, as part of the on boarding process you needed to complete a web form. So the first time I did this (August/September 2025), I got an auto reply within in minutes of completing the web form. I thought "wow that's good". then I never heard anything back, not that day, week or month. Fast Forward it is now the Middle of November and out of the blue got an e-mail, so I registered my interest again. This time there was a reply, but it was very short notice... The e-mail hit my mailbox on Wednesday for a session the following day. That is way to short notice. But, there was an option for the following Monday. Chose that one. I also followed up with a phone call as I was not 100% clear on whether it was like a teams/zoom or other virtual or an in person. Confirmed it was a virtual and I would receive an e-mail before the event on Monday at 1630. It was Friday. I was quite busy with stuff over the weekend, checked Monday morning still no e-mail. Had to do stuff like shopping and see an engineer about something broken in the house, checked again at 1600. Not in junk. I know the e-mail is working as I tested several times between Friday and 1600 Monday. Tried called the only number that I have which is 0191-490-0300. An auto attendant answers, but then you have no options other than than to wait listening to hold. Eventually the call just get dropped. Eventually at 1629 a person answers. They are the sort of person if a nuclear missile was heading for them with certain death, everything would be fine, at little of that is fine, but at that level, I just want factual solve my problem. They kindly put be though to "Chelsea" but Chelsea did not answer. AT THIS POINT I HAVE LOST INTEREST.
I am your customer, even if the course is free to me, you are getting government funding for it or from industry. If you can not be bothered to get the simple process of onboarding nailed down and professional looking, what confidence you gateshead college think I the customer have in your ability to other things like exams and certification or issues arising later. I hope gateshead college will look at this review and resolve these customer service issues. young students studying there as there first exposure to FE might think that is acceptable, it is not. You are customer you have a right to expect more.
