They will take your money

I booked a car with this company through Expedia. On the day I arrived to Cancun, I called them from pickup from airport to get rental which is in their policy. They informed me via Whatsapp that the supplier overbooked and there were no cars available. I told them I already paid ahead and they told me to contact my booking company. When I contacted expedia for a refund, they told expedia that i cancelled and therefore I could not get a refund?? Makes no sense! Luckily I screenshotted the conversation and reported the charge as fraudulent with my credit card company. Do not book unless you want to be stranded in an international airport on your own dime.

They are scammers

They are scammers, never ever rent your car from them. They scammed us and took $250 just for insurance on top of the rental price. When confronted they said we don’t take your existing insurance.

Wish I ran across this page before I…

Wish I ran across this page before I rented my car for my son's birthday gift and Christmas present to Disney. Booked online and paid but had a horrible experience spent hours waiting for my car to be cleaned and ready for pick up after going back and forth with agents about additional charges ie $100 debit card charge and $50 Sun Pass charge. I was one of the lucky ones I guess after talking with many of the other frustrated customers who were also waiting for hours on Christmas Day with reservations but no cars. Lesson learned and paid for. DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY!

Fraudulent Company

I wish there as a way to put no star. This company is the worst. We booked a car and paid upfront in Vienna we arrived 42
Mins late and was told we cannot get the car because we past the 30 mins mark.
2nd thing happened I went on Priceline to rebook and set my dates from Dec 29th to Jan 2nd once I put my credit card in and paid and mind you I showed two members of my family the dates I selected before I hit the complete button. Well can believe this the dates changed from Dec 29th to Jan 2nd returning Jan 3rd. My humble advise is please be careful when using this company. They are not on the up and up.

Rented a car through booking and was…

Rented a car through booking and was prepaid for 4 days in Fort Lauderdale. Arrived and was charged a deposit, which I have never paid anywhere else. This deposit was not a set fee but rather was determined by my insurance deductible! I was then charged an $85 fee to use my debit card, which is visa debit card and run the same way a visa debit card is and charges the company the same fee to process as a debit card! I was given a vehicle that had obvious debts, scratches and superficial damage. The employee did not attempt to engage in conversation to explain what she was noting on the iPad, I was not given documentation that the vehicle was damaged. The employees were lazy, rude, uncommunicative. The address for the location on their website, email confirmation etc. is incorrect causing you to drive miles out of the way in a densely populated tourist area of Fort Lauderdale! Perhaps hoping you return the vehicle late and incur further charges!! Absolutely despicable company! Would not recommend to anyone!!

Reserved a car for $300ish online

Reserved a car for $300ish online, added another $170 collision insurance, went to the car company when I got to Orlando, they grabbed my credit card for "verification" purposes and charged me another $500 claiming this was their own insurance and toll pass. Ended up being $800+ for 13 days. Yet car from priceline said to be $7/day. DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A SCAM.

HIDDEN INSURANCE COSTS PROHIBITIVE TO CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS

On picking up the car we had booked and paid for we were told that, as Canadians, it was necessary to pay for local insurance. The amount that we were quoted for one week use of the car was equal to about 6 months car insurance for a US resident. The email we received just hours before our booking time did explain that our Canadian insurance was not enough for this booking but that was after we had paid the apparently non-refundable car rental fee. We have never experienced this, booking a car with other car rental companies in the US! These hidden costs were prohibitive to us actually using a rental car from this company so we ended up getting a car from Budget and we had none of the same problems. The cost was higher than the original amount we had paid on booking with Greenmotion but way, way less than the amount we would have paid if we took the insurance that they insisted we pay for in order to rent the car.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Tried renting a car from this place in Athens Greece Airport. I tried looking for the rental location in Greece and it doesn't exist. Asked for a refund and was denied. Absolute worst, they just take your money. Find a brand name to rent from.

Tampa FAIL

Everything went wrong. Pre-paid for the car. When I arrived at Tampa, FL airport there was no shuttle, no rental car. Long story short, I called them, had my conf. #, they didn't care. No cars to rent - sorry. Then waited an hour to pay 6X the cost for a rental. Made my reservation through Priceline. I recommend you AVOID Green Motion and Priceline. Go direct to a rental car company and save yourself money and frustration. Terrible experience all around Still waiting for a refund after hours of on-line B S.

Worst experience with LAX brunch

We rented a car with this provider through Booking.com. The LAX brunch had the most unhelpful and discriminating agents and brunch manager. They attempted to charge higher deposit than on the contract. They entered false comments and refused to discuss my complaint. I was shamed by them in front of other customers and I was treated in an insulting disrespectful discriminatory and patronising way. Their customer service was below zero

STAY AWAY from Green Motion!

After pre-paying for a 3-day Miami rental through Priceline, I was forced to pay another $104 for "liability insurance" as well as a $500 "deposit" for possible damages. The car was a scratched up, underpowered Corolla that was over 5 years old, with over 76,000 miles on it. I've rented cars all over the US for over 35 years, and have never been defrauded like this.

This company is a great example of a blatant scam

This company is a great example of a legal fraud and swindle business. They have made up hidden fees and the credit card deposit is unheard of ($5000.00 usd)
They are thieves, liars and unprofessionals to say the least.

Awful, terrible, zero stars, etc

Awful. They lure you in with the rate and screw you at the counter. Don't rent here. Ever. They are running a scam with their insurance. They will not accept your credit card insurance. They will not accept your personal insurance unless it is from one of the 6 companies on their list. The coverage they want exceeds many peoples policies. If your company is on that exclusive list, they will want hard copies of your policy. Of course they tell you all this 24 hrs before pickup... After the cancellation policy of 48 hrs. They also had an absurd credit card hold if you are able to use your own insurance.
This can all be waived however if you buy their insurance... Funny how that works. Ended up paying more than I would have at a major rental company, and the car was in pretty crappy condition for what you end up paying. Not only that, but these "budget" rental places are way off site. They will get you there, but it's a pain if you are paying premium prices. If you are looking for a budget rental this is not it. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. Spend 5 minutes looking at the other reviews anywhere online... I didn't... My mistake.

I live in the US and the reservation was made through Expedia for a rental car at Manchester Airport UK and collision damage protection was purchased at the time of the reservation. When I arrived at the Manchester Airport UK to collect the car (Fri 8 Sep 2023 morning), the agent told me that collision damage protection that was purchased in the US is not valid for rentals in the UK. I asked if I was legally required to purchase collision protection from Green Motion in order to be able to rent the car and the reply was "Yes". That is quite unusual. Under duress, I accepted the CDW charge of GBP 50.00 (incl. VAT) for the 5 day rental. The car was returned Tue 12 Sep in the evening. The car was not damaged during the time we had it. There was no notice from Green Motion over the next four weeks or so about any damage.
Around the middle of October, I submitted a complaint on Green Motion's website for an issue after the rental was completed. I asked if there really is a legal requirement to purchase collision damage protection from Green Motion, even though I had already purchased that protection through Expedia. I requested that the charge be refunded to my credit card if there is, in fact, no legal requirement. To date (23 Oct. 2023) there has been no reply to that query. However, the Green Motion Manchester Airport location responded on Sun 22 Oct 2023 indicating that there was damage to the vehicle. (This is about 6 weeks after the vehicle was returned.) There were pictures included with the invoice but it is impossible to see a connection to the damage shown and the car I rented. The invoice also billed me again for the collision damage protection that I had already paid for when I picked up the car.
It seems to me that this action on Green Motion's part is retaliatory for submitting a complaint.
Green Motion will probably respond by instructing me to use their "contact" page but I have already done that to no avail. This is indicative of a scam.
If they were really interested in customer service and protecting their image and eliminating fraud in their company, they would be more responsive.

My next action will be to contact Expedia about the tactics used by Green Motion.

AGAIN, DO NOT EVER RENT FROM GREEN MOTION!!!

The following is in response to Green Motion's reply. This is posted on October 30, 2023.

AGAIN, DO NOT EVER RENT A CAR FROM GREEN MOTION!!

Their reply indicated that I "purchased a basic rental product which did not include the mandatory insurances." This is false. First of all there was nothing mentioned during the Expedia reservation process that insurances were mandatory. Second, I did purchase collision protection while making this rental car reservation on Expedia. They go on the say "you are required to provide proof of sufficient coverage at the rental desk. If you are unable to provide it, and in this case you were not, you were obligated to purchase CDW at the rental desk." This is also false. When the agent asked me to show him my proof of insurance, I said to him that the email and policy is on my phone and that my phone is in my suitcase, which is outside the office, and I can go get it. The agent then changed his story / reason / deception tactic for coercing me into buying CDW from them. The new tactic was that any insurance that was purchased in the US was not valid. I said that the insurance was purchased through Expedia at the time when the reservation was made so why would Expedia sell me an insurance policy, knowing it was for a rental in the UK, if it was not valid. He didn't have a good answer for that but insisted that I was legally obligated to buy CDW from Green Motion. And as I read other reviews about Green Motion, it seems to be a common scheme amongst the renters.

Their reply goes on to say that "The inspection was completed at 8am the following morning, where new damage to the rental vehicle (scuffed alloy wheel) was found. The charge for this damage was then processed. Again, this is false. Green Motion waited almost 6 weeks to send the invoice. And there is no direct evidence that links the pictures sent to the car rented or the day and time that the pictures were taken. I did not cause any damage while we had the car. The pictures could have been taken of any car and any day time up to when they finally sent the invoice.

I will be following up with Green Motion in the UK, Expedia and my credit card company.

DO NOT EVER RENT A CAR FROM GREEN MOTION!!

We are sorry that your experience with Green Motion Manchester fell below your expectations. After looking into this, I can see that you purchased a basic rental product, which did not include the mandatory insurances. This product is intended for people who wish to self-insure. In order to use this product, you are required to provide proof of sufficient coverage at the rental desk. If you are unable to provide it, and in this case you were not, you were obligated to purchase CDW at the rental desk.

When you returned the vehicle, you signed the Vehicle Condition Report stating that the vehicle would be inspected the following morning due to the poor conditions. The inspection was completed at 8am the following morning, where new damage to the rental vehicle (scuffed alloy wheel) was found. The charge for this damage was then processed.

You have not been recharged for the CDW that you purchased at the rental desk. This product was not full coverage and you were liable for any damage charges upto the excess amount of £1405.

Green Motion Fort Lauderdale this place was awful, we showed we already had full coverage insurance, then he said he needed our declaration page we got that he still wouldn’t take it, he claimed cause it was not a top five insurance company we had to purchase it from them. The place was sketchy and the people were not nice. The cars were not in the best condition to begin with. Next time we will rent from a “top five” place.

Terrible

I'm man enough to admit, I feel I was scammed. I made arrangements online thru a .com (1st mistake). What I was sold was not honored. I incurred additional charges, that more than doubled original price to get unlimited mileage which I already paid for thru the .com. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!
