I bought a high-end Ilve gas hob about 5 years ago. The hob has been OK with no significant problems until recently when a couple of the thermocouples failed.

It turns out that Ilve spares are only available in UK from Midland Range Cooker Repairs (MRCR), not from the usual appliance-spares retailers like espares. Fitting the new push-fit thermocouples is dead simple for any competent DIYer and can be done in a few of minutes with no risk of gas escape. However, MRCR will not even provide part numbers, let alone the parts themselves, without full details, including a copy of the gas-safe registration certificate of the engineer who will be fitting the parts. This makes obtaining the parts unnecessarily complex (in my experience, gas engineers can't be bothered with sending copies of their qualifications to a company they've never heard of), time consuming and adds to cost. MRCR claim that this practice is to ensure "safety and compliance," but a cynic might take the view that there is also a commercial motive in play in trying to persuade customers to employ MRCR's own engineers.

In addition, as Ilve-appliance owners have nowhere else to go, they can charge over the top for parts - I estimate that I paid about double what equivalent parts would have cost from an online parts specialist.

I have contacted Ilve in Italy about this issue, but they haven't bothered to respond. I very much doubt I shall be buying any additional Ilve appliance as I don't like being exposed to closed-market practices ! Life is tough enough without having to face this type of problem.

ILVE’s marketing material is extremely misleading in so far as it relates to refrigeration. Their refrigeration appliances (or at least the one we bought) are not hand made by a craftsman in Italy. They are a rather poor appliance manufactured in China, and sold at an absolutely outrageous price. This sort of misleading advertising should be banned. Avoid ILVE refrigeration at all costs.

Update to my review as I feel people should have the true picture on the quality of these supposedly top end appliances, ive had my oven less than 7 months and the inside of the door paint is bubbling up and the buttons on the clock are peeling, I went through customer services who were quite frankly disorganised and engineer came out and basically told me it was my fault as my oven was very slightly off level, so disappointed for the price ive paid, should have gone with another rangemaster for a much cheaper price.

Purchased my ilve from Andrews Electrical in keighley and when he was telling me about the range he said i would love it and he wasnt wrong. Just cooking up french onion Chicken tonight and everything is working perfectly, cant wait to try out the rotisserie, any tips on what meat does best on it?

I have just purchased a new ILVe Milano cooker….I have only used it a few times but love it already.It feels very well made.

I’ve had the ILVE Milano 100 for a while now, and it’s honestly transformed the way I cook and enjoy my kitchen. This cooker is pure craftsmanship — every detail reflects quality, from the brass knobs and polished handles to the timeless Italian design that becomes a statement piece in the room.

Performance-wise, it’s been exceptional. The ovens heat evenly and hold temperature beautifully, making baking and roasting effortless. Children are especially fond of the pizza function which is like having our own pizzeria. The gas burners are powerful yet precise — simmering sauces feels as easy as grilling meat. I especially love how responsive the controls are; you can feel the professional heritage behind the design.

Cleaning is surprisingly easy for such a robust range, and everything feels built to last. The Milano 100 doesn’t just cook — it inspires me to cook more often and better.

For me this cooker is a dream come true. Elegant, powerful, and beautifully made — the ILVE Milano 100 is worth every penny and turns everyday cooking into a luxury experience.

I sincerely hope that ILVE continue to make their mark in the industry and keep inspiring home chefs like myself.

I’ve owned my ILVE cooker for a few years now, and unfortunately, my experience has been far from what I expected given the premium price tag.

The first breakdown happened just a few months outside the warranty period. ILVE refused to assist and simply directed me to their recommended repair company. The engineer found that a fuse had failed — apparently a known fault (ILVE had even changed fuse manufacturers) — yet ILVE still wouldn’t cover the cost.

Not long after, one of the oven trays warped badly. ILVE eventually agreed to replace it, but it took several phone calls before they took action.

About 18 months ago, I had to replace the heating element in the side oven after it stopped working. Now, after only limited use, the engineer has told me the replacement element is already in poor condition and needs replacing again. I was told that elements “need to be used regularly or they deteriorate, but not too much or they’ll wear out.” That kind of logic doesn’t inspire confidence.

Overall, I feel ILVE ovens are overpriced. the oven was sold to me as “commercial grade,” which in my experience is laughable.

My advice: look elsewhere before buying an ILVE oven or like me, may regret my purchase and feel very disappointed.
UPDATE:
The warranty was out by a matter of months yet you refused to rectify a know issue with the fuses which is very poor customer service considering how much the ovens cost.
Heating element lasting 18 months is poor quality components. I will continue to use the service company but I stand by what I said in my experience ilve cookers are over priced for what they are and would not recommend or purchase again.

I’ve been using the ILVE Milano cooker for a few months now, and honestly, I’m in love with it. It’s not just stunning to look at — it’s the kind of cooker that actually makes you want to spend more time in the kitchen. The brass knobs and retro design give it a real statement feel, and the build quality is top-notch.



Performance-wise, it’s a beast. The burners are powerful and super responsive, and having two ovens has been a game changer when cooking for family or guests. It took a little time to get used to all the functions, but now I couldn’t imagine cooking without it.



Yes, it’s definitely an investment — but if you love cooking and want something that combines style with serious functionality, the Milano is worth every penny.

1 week of living with my Ilve. It’s beautiful! I love the precision of the oven temp. What a massive difference. The gas hob has cast iron saucepan stands strong enough to hold my cast iron pans! It looks fabulous. The build quality is excellent. Great service from the retailer rangecookers.co.uk

After living here for 21 years, we finally had to say goodbye to the Britannia range cooker that came with our house when we bought it. It had served us faithfully for over two decades, becoming the true heart of our home. What we didn’t realise until recently was that our Britannia was originally manufactured by ILVE – a delightful discovery we made just as we were about to give up hope of finding a worthy replacement.

When our beloved cooker finally gave out, my wife was devastated. So many cherished memories were tied to it – Christmas dinners, Easter feasts, and our children (now 24 and 21) standing on little steps, learning how to cook. I’ll admit – and she won’t thank me for sharing this – she cried as the old one was being wheeled away. When I asked why, she simply said, “I can see our whole family life in that cooker.”

We scoured every showroom and website looking for an alternative, but nothing felt quite right… everything just felt cheap and very inferior until, by chance, just as we were leaving a store, my wife pointed and said, “What’s that?” I looked and replied, “It’s identical to our old range cooker!” Something about it felt instantly familiar – and sure enough, it was. The same heart, just updated and refined.

Without hesitation – and without questioning the price – we ordered one immediately. We chose the induction hob version (gas regulations have rightly moved on since our original was installed, and safety must always come first).

Our new ILVE range is, quite simply, the Rolls-Royce of cookers. It’s elegant, reliable, and full of thoughtful upgrades. The digital clock is a joy, the six-zone induction hob is powerful and intuitive, and the soft-close doors and warming drawer? Absolutely divine.

But this isn’t just a cooker – it’s a statement. It has revitalised our kitchen and completely reignited our love of cooking. We keep discovering clever little design touches that remind us why quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail matter.

We’ve attached two photos – one of the original, and one of our new ILVE. It’s a bit like a game of “Spot the Difference”. At first glance, not much has changed – and that’s exactly the point. But beneath the surface, this beautiful machine has evolved. Just like us, it’s matured, kept pace with the times, and become even better.

We’re so glad we weren’t “penny-wise and pound foolish,” as the saying goes.

Absolutely amazing range! We wanted a range that has really precise oven control and is big enough to cope with large family needs. This is amazing. I can’t say how happy I am with the purchase. It’s a pleasure to cook on. The frytop is brilliant and large enough to cook for family. The support has been amazing too. I’ve had some questions and they are right on the end of the phone

To be honest, the customer service is ok.
But.
When you pay this much for an oven and 10 degrees at the centre is “within tolerable range” is laughable. It’s more like 20 at the front.
I have to have a thermometer and just ignore the digital temperature display. Even 20 mins after it says it’s up to temperature!
The range oven works fine so i know it’s not a dodgy thermometer.
Just be wary of the built in ovens, just not up to scratch.

We literally couldn’t be happier with our ILVE! It’s beautiful, easy to use, we love the size and the fry top is a game changer too.

We had our ILVE Roma delivered this week. love it, looks great in our kitchen! love the quality feel of the oven and cooking on it reminds me of my professional days as a chef. Really great quality also love all the oven functions.

Can't wait to try out all the settings and looking forward to making pizza!

We have just had our new cooker installed to replace our 22 year old Britannia cooker which was also manufactured by ILVE, we have always been very pleased with the build quality and our new Roma is even better as it has triple glazed soft closing oven doors, and the storage compartment has now become a soft close drawer. The technology of the multifunction ovens is a huge improvement allowing for good temperature control. The finish on the gas hobs is also a big improvement.

I love my ILVE 48" cooktop. I only wish they did not discontinue making it, because now my mother wants one and can't get it. I entered today's date for Date of experience, because I've had it for 2 years now and love using it as much today as the day when it was first installed. Great quality, great burners, and beautiful. (i would attach a picture, but there is place to insert it).

I recently purchased ILVE Roma 100 dual oven range cooker (dual fuel) and have been enjoying using it. The speed of cooking is phenomenal and such a joy. The ovens work amazing and again I’m saving so much time than with my old appliance. The storage drawer is very sturdy and deep and keeps most of my trays very handy. There are so many functions of the ovens, I haven’t explored them all.

Things I wish I knew before: 1. the front hobs are the most powerful and I tend not to use them much – most of my cooking is being done at the rear ones. The front ones might be useful for stir fry. 2. I need more shelves/trays for the ovens and didn’t realise how difficult it would be to get them. They need to be ordered from Italy, the tray is very expensive + I will have to cover the postage. That is a great shame and I wish I knew this before so I would order them when purchasing the range cooker.

I absolutely adore my ILVE Majestic Milano 100cm range! Cooking has become a joy with its seamless combination of induction and gas features. I recently bought a Roma Induction 90cm - all ready for Christmas dinner.

I was excited to be getting a new cooker after 20 years, but didn’t anticipate how much I really love it.

It’s very slick, very easy to use, cooks wonderfully and is a beautiful piece of furniture in my kitchen.

We’ve recently become the very lucky owners of our new Ilve Milano range cooker. It’s been a long time coming but it was so worth the wait. There’s so much to say I don’t really know where to start… or finish!

Not only does it look beautiful, with perfectly crafted dials and sturdy hob, it’s incredibly heavy and solid which shows how well made these ranges are.

The black enamel gas burners are excellent quality and seem very unlikely to suffer easily from use (they became quite worn on our old range after a relatively short period of time).

We love the 6 individual cast iron covers rather than 3 larger ones. The large ones are so cumbersome to clean and the little covers will make this job so much more approachable, thank you!

The Temperature control and dials that tips up and down for ease of adjusting is so user friendly. I’ve also discovered the little beep is very helpful for hearing when passing little people casually pull handles so you know when they’ve turned something on or off.

Most importantly, it cooks to perfection. We couldn’t be more pleased with our Ilve and would have no hesitation in highly recommending it to others.

From a really helpful purchase experience through to a faultless delivery in time for Christmas, this was 5 star service.
