My husband (Army war veteran) and I (Federal Retired Employee used Jackson Hewitt Tax Service for our 2023 income taxes. When we went in I told the woman "that ours was not a standard tax form it would be complicated.) We were assigned a "tax expert" ha,ha,ha. Again I told them that this was going to be a difficult tax form, that we were not the average tax forms. And we were told 'oh this girl is an expert'. After sitting for over 4hrs, and I had to help her with some of it, we were told that We owed taxes ($1380 to be exact). I ask "how can that be we made over $200,000 less this year." We only had $39,000 in taxable income. To add insult to injury they charged over $500 for preparations, advanced packet, and customer service. I said I would go home and resubmit it, "Oh you can't because we have already sent it, so you just need to pay the overdue voucher and by the way our fees are ..." So now I had to pay two fees that was almost $2,000 and couldn't even submit an amendment for several months. To make this story shorter.. I just resubmitted my taxes using FreeTaxUSA and the original overpayment for taxes was $1,111 plus the $1380 that I had to pay because of JH comes to a Jackson Hewitt Mistake of $2,491. I would also add that they "DON'T know anything about the Military, Reserves, or Government pensions. Now if you can't afford to put out that kind of money you had better stay clear of them and go elsewhere, because I've reviewed the JH Income Tax service all over the states and they all have major foul-up services!

I was scared, at first. But Lakeisha Dance, made me feel at ease. She’s very knowledgeable about the different tax questions you have and tax laws. I enjoyed my visit here, and will be returning every year now.

Christina Bauman has been a great help (Sarasota FL office.) Anytime I ask for help with something, she's there. Also, Michele Johnson handled my tax prep like a pro, putting me at ease. They both are very experienced.

I would rate this less than 1 star! We had our tax prepared there for the first time, and it will be the last!! I have called and called, messages left and no return call! Tried the on line live chat, and the person couldn't understand my question! I have had a very time sensitive issue re: a standard form that should have been in my packet, also I have tried the on line portal without luck, nor was that helpful. It kept telling me to use an accurate email.... So very disappointed, Never Again!!!!!!

This the third year I had suffered with a horrible experience with Jackson Hewitt. The waiting, the calling, the run around, the inaccuracy is insane. Had my 2023 taxes done (once again trusting that this time will be better) starting at New Hope office with Cierra on February 2nd, after that, ZERO response. After multiple calls & them telling me to get my returns and bring them to another office, told them NOONE is there OR responding. I ended up having them completed at the Broadway office. TODAY is June 20, 2024 I received a “CORRECTION” letter from Mn Department of Revenue. After paying close to $500 (again) I was informed I am getting hundreds of dollars less! (State refund was $1080, according to Melisha D. updated refund? $281!!!) I feel I should be Refunded my money back for all the hardship I am going through with Jackson Hewitt! I feel I shouldn’t have to pay for the mistake I DID’NT MAKE. I will leave a Google Review.

KENNETH SCHISSLER in York, PA was knowledgeable, courteous and went above and beyond when I requested signed docs that he emailed me after hours. I received my return in a timely manner from the IRS, and learned some things I wasn't aware of thanks to Ken's expertise.

I filed my taxes in January I allowed the 21 days to pass and still didn't hear anything. I called to check the status to make sure nothing was wrong. All I was told is that the IRS acknowledged my return. About 11 weeks later still nothing I called the IRS and Jackson Hewitt, neither could tell me what was wrong with my refund the manger/ owner was too busy to assist me and said it would be later on in the week before she could call the IRS due to her having to take down the Walmart locations. I paid 400.00 for them to handle my tax needs and this is what you get they are too busy to help. I spoke with 3 different people there and still nothing. I thought the point of paying a tax professional is, so you don't have to worry or get the run arounds. I am very disappointed!!

I had a great experience in Locust Grove Jackson Hewitt because Mrs. Sherri Richardson was professional and very patient. She explained the process before she initiated any actions taken to fill out our taxes. Mr.&Mrs. Moses

Was told when I visited the Mchenry Illinois office that I could have my tax prep fee subtracted from my federal return at no cost. I said that sounds good to me. Found out after the fact I was charged $93.95 for this service. Called the Mchenry office and the tax prep guy told me my complaint was against the republic bank for they were the ones charging the bank fees. Said I never ever experienced any situation like this with any other tax prep service. He told me to cry me a river. UNBELIEVABLE. Totally unprofessional. Don't ever believe Jackson Hewitt values you as a customer, for I will never be going back.
