I’m very happy with the housekeeping service. The team was professional, friendly and reliable, and they did a great job.

I have serious concerns about their business practices. They found us a nanny, who we interviewed with and ultimately introduced to our son. At interview we confirmed her rate, but once I sent her a contract afterwards the rate jumped but £4 per hour (about 18% at the very last minute. It was pretty clear from the questions at interview, and the subsequent interaction with Little Ones that this was an attempt to get additional money (well over the market rate) from us.

This left us in a position where it was very difficult to back out (having only a week). We did back out and little ones offered a discount of 10% on their fees, which was less than the extra they would have made from their commission.

When I complained they simply quoted the refund provisions in the contract at me, which were not relevant to my complaint at all.

It felt to me that this was an unsavoury business practice or bait and switch, but even if this was an innocent mistake it shows a level of incompetence that, had we accepted would have cost us c. £9k over the year.

I would not recommend them, and I would be very cautious about being in a position where they can effectively force you into a higher price because you have no time for other options.

Appalling service. Have been with the agency for over 3 months. Each time we’ve had a video call with prospective clients, they either don’t turn up or they are not available for the specified hours. The agency is not reliable, poor communication and are just not interested in helping. I would not recommend to any families, it’s a waste of time and money. I put in a complaint days ago and not heard anything. Please don’t waste your time, there’s plenty of other agencies out there who actually listen.

Avoid this agency.
Everything seemed fine until the housekeeper showed up, couldn't clean, stained our carpets running over an eye pencil again and again with the vacuum cleaner, did a phone interview, and got caught having a rest on our bed.

It turns out we were wrong to trust Little Ones to do basic vetting and that they only had a single verbal reference for them.

They were initially apologetic until we asked for a partial refund of the thousands of pounds they had charged us. They told us the contract says they don't have to, so they won't.

I wished I'd done more research as this appears to a common problem people have with this specific agency.

Update: The reply appears to be an automated response and meant nothing, no refund was offered.

Update 2: The offer mentioned is not a refund.

I did the First pediatric course with the company yesterday with my friend, as an important prerequisite to my nanny job. We were both very satisfied with how simply things were explained and demonstrated and we were also actively participating so l believe the information are going to stick with us long term:-) The course was lead professionally and l think all the participants enjoyed it also. Posting this as a heads-up for parents considering Little Ones for nanny placement, particularly if you’re newer to using agencies like we were.

BUYER BEWARE — read the refund terms before you sign!! We spent roughly £6,000 for three weeks of childcare.

We’d just relocated from overseas and wanted part-time summer childcare to help with settling in. We had never worked with a nanny before. We were open to it becoming longer-term if it worked out, but were not specifically looking for a permanent nanny. We were steered toward registering it as a “permanent placement” anyway, which meant a fee of £3,000+ rather than the temporary rate, and there was real pressure to sign and pay quickly. I was naive and assumed this is just how agencies are.

The nanny herself was lovely and this isn’t about her. But one of our young children became increasingly upset and distressed, and after three weeks it was obvious that continuing wasn’t right for our child (or fair to the nanny, who we kept paying through month-end).

We asked for a partial refund: not the whole fee, just the gap between the temporary and permanent rates, given the “permanent” placement lasted three weeks. Refused. Their only offer was another search, which totally misses the point: we only really needed help for summer, our child now starts nursery soon, and putting another unfamiliar carer in front of an already unsettled preschooler isn’t in anyone’s interest.

What bothers me most is they seem completely unwilling to take into account whether continuing with another placement, now or later, is actually right for our child or their emotional wellbeing — from a company whose business is meant to be childcare. I’m not disputing that they’re entitled to their fee under the contract. But there’s a real difference between what a company can keep and how it treats a family when things go wrong, fast.

If you’re weighing this up:
— Read the refund/replacement terms super carefully before paying anything
— A “we’ll find you someone else” offer is not a refund guarantee
— A permanent-placement fee doesn’t guarantee a permanent placement
— Consider other agencies with clearer terms. My French Nanny London publishes a refund/replacement guarantee up to 4 months, French Nanny Agency has a much lower flat fee, and Norland’s terms include a pro-rata refund for permanent placements ending within 12 months.

Wish I’d done better research and found all this out before paying anything. Hope it saves you, your family, and your wallet the stress. I would personally choose to always work with someone else.
