I graded my laptop based on the website's criteria & was quoted £144 cash... Waited in on the day I had booked my collection, only for nobody to arrive. Tried to call the customer service number (no answer - left a message), & I also e-mailed them. Got a reply the following day saying they forgot to book the collection, so had to do the same again two days later (DPD - good service & packaging). They confirmed receipt of my laptop, then following their inspection revised the quote to £10! I am willing to concede I may have misjudged the scratches, but not sure how this can be justified given I used their criteria in the first place. I have therefore asked to have it sent back, so this has all been a colossal waste of my time & needless impact on the environment ferrying this laptop backwards & forwards. Would not recommend. Feels a bit scammy.

Regarding the revised quote, after inspection our technicians found the following issues with your laptop:
Excessive scratches to the base
Light scratches on the top case
Signs of anti-reflective coating damage on the screen
A swollen battery, which would need immediate replacement
Unfortunately, these factors meant the device could not be classed as Grade A, which was the grade chosen during the online quote. This resulted in a reduced valuation.
We completely understand your frustration and respect your decision to have the laptop returned — which, as always, we have done free of charge. We’ll also take your feedback on board to continue improving our service.

Such a marvelous experience dealing with Macback. The whole process was so seamless, quick and convenient from beginning to end. I cannot recommend them enough. They offered the best price for my 2013 MacBook Air compared to other popular websites and even eBay. They arranged collection by courier (even providing a box with decent padding), completed testing all within a 3-day period and I received the funds by the 4th day. No cheeky downgrade of the item as other services are wont to do. Simply excellent all round!

Brilliant, would use again!
I was about to sell my IMac through Apple when I read poor reviews about the third party company they use. After some research I came across Macback, they had good reviews and so I decided to go with them instead.
I'm soooo glad I did. They offered a better quote (which was honoured on receipt of my IMac), had great communication throughout, collected my very heavy and large IMac from my home (Apple wanted me to take it to a drop off location) and I received payment within days.
I would definitely recommend Macback and would not hesitate to use them again.

Not keeping their promises, lied!
They clearly aren’t keeping their promises. I declared the item C grade and stated no mouse or keyboard which I should have received the offer what it stated, they try to make me look stupid as if I don’t know any technology. When I personally fix laptops, computers. They sent me the technical sheet that they evaluated and clearly it stated they declared that as. C grade yet they offering me less the 39£ for the item that was original price! Won’t be using them ever again. The worse company honestly can’t keep their promises. Avoid them

We’re unable to identify your order from the details provided, but we can confirm that our quote system does not have an option to declare an iMac without a keyboard and mouse — these are expected with all iMacs. Where they are missing, a deduction is applied. From what you’ve described, it looks like your quote was adjusted correctly to reflect the absence of these items, but still matched the condition grading submitted.
We’d never look to mislead anyone — we simply assess all devices fairly and transparently. If you were unhappy with the revised quote, you were under no obligation to proceed, and we would have returned your iMac free of charge.
We’re sorry this experience didn’t meet your expectations, but we want to reassure you that we always aim to keep the process clear and consistent for every customer.

Just recently use Macback , once they had the Mac they offered 50 percent less which seems to be a running theme. I would suggest to always try and sell privately and then use macback as a last resort it’s vey similar to we buy and car they will always drop the price. The collection was 1 day late from the agreed slot but once collected the process was seamless and payment was made the next day on my agreement. So overall organised company but disappointed on the price they offered.

To clarify, the main reasons for the adjustment were due to the condition and completeness of the device:
Screen burn on the lower left side of the display
Missing keyboard and mouse
Both of these factors had a significant impact on the resale value, which is why the final offer was lower than the original online quote.
We never reduce prices unfairly or as a standard practice — we only adjust when the condition or included items differ from the details submitted. In this case, you were free to reject the revised quote and have your device returned free of charge, but you agreed to proceed with the sale.
We understand this wasn’t the outcome you hoped for, but we appreciate you recognising that the process itself was organised and payment was made promptly.

Truly Amazing
Did a google search as I had a MacBook Air which was no longer needed.
A few businesses offered next to nothing and then I found Macback who made a far better offer than anyone else so I decided to go with them although still slightly sceptical.
They arranged pickup within 2 days which went ahead perfectly and then 2 days after pickup they sent me an email actually offering MORE than there original quote and the money was in my account 5 hours later.
What a marvellous business to deal with and I highly recommend.

Complete con. I engaged with this company based on their majority of good reviews here, but was surprised to find that once they received the iMac they reduced their original quote by well over 50%. They thought I was going to be stupid enough to accept that? The risk is then they send it back to you via DPD and it can be damaged, or with parts exchanged or removed for inferior ones. Not only a waste of my precious time and resources also but also a breach of consumer trust and an absolute con. Don't sent quotes in advance if you are going to reduce them by over half.. and if you want to clap back about the condition - this has been the most disused iMac of all time, no question. It is pristine. Furious.
To add - reading other reviews here saying that macback provide a bag and box for sending, they do not do that for your iMac.. you are expected to find your own packaging.
Why on earth would I come and review wasting further time if I was not a customer... trying to discredit my review only shows how suss you are as a company. The condition had better be how it was sent when it arrives back - be advised that I took thorough pictures. It is the end of the working day and it still has not even been dispatched back to me. My iMac sells for roughly £800.00 elsewhere in its pristine condition - hence the annoyance of your company wasting my time.
RE the packaging, I have an email before collection where you request that I package the item for collection, worded as follows -
'I ask that you make sure the item is securely packaged in its original packaging ready for the DPD driver to label it and send it out to us.

We’d like to clarify a few key details regarding your order:
During the online quote process, you selected that you had the original Apple box for your iMac. When this option is chosen, we do not send out a DPD packaging kit, as you’ve confirmed suitable packaging is already available. If a customer selects no box, we always arrange for DPD to deliver a collection box to your door, with pick-up and packing handled at the same time.
You quoted the machine as a Grade A, which we fully agreed with and matched when assessing the device.
The key issue is that the device quoted was an iMac M3 (2023), whereas the model we received was an iMac M1 (2021). Naturally, there is a significant difference in resale value between these models.
As set out in our Terms & Conditions:
> “If we find that the model you send is not as referred to in your sale order, we will e-mail or phone a value for the actual item confirming the model. You can choose to continue the sale for the revised value or reject it. If so, we will return the item to you free of charge if the item is a product we buy, the sale will not progress and our agreement will terminate.”
This process is exactly what has happened in your case. We confirmed the correct model and its value, and as you declined, your iMac is being returned to you free of charge in the same condition it arrived.
We understand this has been frustrating for you, but it’s important to note that misquoting the model also has a cost to our business, as we cover the shipping, handling, and processing of devices we cannot purchase due to inaccurate information provided at the quoting stage.
We hope this clarifies the situation, and our support team remains available if you’d like to discuss this further.
