Very expensive
Very expensive. Told on receipt it would take 3-5 business days. 16 days later no key. They now say they have 15 working days to deliver and won't refund me. If I knew it would take this long I would go to another place to have the key made. I am going to home Depot to complain.
Keys don't even come close to matching the original
We used Minute Key at two different locations, and both times the keys did not work. We spent $12.96 at one location and $19.44 at another. We contacted Minute Key for a refund since they say their keys are guaranteed to be accurate. We received an email saying they would refund our money, but they have not. We contacted them again saying we had not received the refund, and again were told they would issue the refund to our credit card. They have not. Their email says I will receive the refund within 5-7 business days. I requested a refund in May! Don't waste your money! Too much hassle, waste of time and money.
I have been trying to get a refund…
I have been trying to get a refund since April. I am told they send them out in a plain white envelope every other Wednesday. They have sent out 3 times, or so they say. NOTHNG. One email they sent actually asked me if I checked my mail? Really? How much money have they scammed from people? Lowe's and Home Depot should be embarrassed to have their Kiosk's in their stores.
If I could rate below 1
If I could rate below 1, I would. The machines are useless, does not dispense the keys. Of course, there is little to no support and if the machine fails, you don’t get a refund. I’m not sure why Lowe’s or any other store would have these machines onsite if they can make their own keys. In my case, I didn’t realize that Lowe’s still made keys until the machine failed and a Lowe’s rep. informed me that this was a third party machine and that they indeed still made keys. DON’T USE THIS KIOSK!!
Bad machine, personal stupidity
Used this company's key machine in Home Depot and the key I copied did not work. Fortunately Home Depot then replaced the defective key with one ground by an operator at their store at no extra charge. Bad part is I didn't pay for this company's invoice (for the defective key) on time so my card company doubled the amount due!
Not all Ford Escaped supported
I bought a Smartkey minute key from a Lowe’s kiosk for my car. I answered all the questions properly at the kiosk. They even called me and went through all my car details before sending me the programmable key in the mail. I went to program the key and learned that they don’t support my Ford escape type. Now I have to print a FedEx return label, go to a FedEx store, send it back, and then email the customer service person to request my refund. Very annoying and inconvenient. My refund should’ve been processed promptly. It was MinuteKey’s error.
I was told that they were making the…
I was told that they were making the key and the Fob but when I received the key in the mail it was only a basic key without the Fob! I paid $76 dollars for just a basic key. I will never use Minute Key again! I am telling everyone I know what a bunch of crooks they are!
Too expensive and no receipt given
They're expensive to make a key but I was using work money and it seemed and I repeat seen convenient. I didn't get a receipt and Lowe's told me I had to call the company cuz it's not their machine. I called three times I still don't have a receipt the first time they hung up on me the second and third time they said they'd send it so now I'm filing a complaint with Lowe's filing a complaint with the key company minute key and I'm filing a complaint with the attorney general this is uncalled for. Do not use the green machine at Lowe's to make your key you will regret it
Timely refund
While the key I had made at one of their kiosks (located within a Home Depot) didn't work Minute Key promptly refunded my money. As a senior citizen on a fixed income I was very grateful for their prompt attention to this matter.
Wow..
Wow... this is the #1 worst product experience I've had. Hours wasted, programmed key doesn't work, bad ideas from the techs, and then to get a refund you have to take the key with label to a FedEx after 45 minutes on the phone with customer support. Nothing is offered by the company in exchange for wasting your time. It's a very shameful thing to do. This is a bad, bad company...
Should be called 15 MINUTE KEY
Should be called 15 MINUTE KEY! Slow as sh*t and bombards you with offers and donation requests. Never again.
Terribly disappointing experience
Terribly disappointing experience. I paid for a key at the kiosk expecting to get it immediately, only to discover it would be mailed three days later—completely unacceptable. Since then, the company has given me nothing but excuses and the runaround regarding a refund, and lately my emails have gone unanswered. Unreliable, slow, and frustrating customer service. I strongly advise against using this service if you need anything handled promptly and honestly.
Takes forever if it works, good luck with refunds
Horrible company, advertises the process as easy but its way more complicated requiring multiple phone calls to get done if it works. I had to return both keys i had made and called a locksmith instead. what a PIA.
Awful
Awful. 50% failure. Do not use them.
Details of their awfulness: I needed spare keys and was planning to stop by at Home Depot, but then remembered that Walmart on my way has the service. Since my last visit that key service was replaced by the self service kiosk Munite key. I decided to get 4, and after checking at home, 2 of them did not work at all. Not sure how long it will take to get refund or I may just give up on few backs.
Dont use this kiosk
Dont use this kiosk. Go to the dealer. Its a little more expensive but you actually get a working key the first time. The tooth cut is not right, the fob wont program and the refund process is a pain in the butt. Take your business elsewhere.
1 star is generous for this company
1 star is generous for this company. I was promised my key in 3-5 business days. I scanned it on 1/26, got an email from fed ex on 1/31 saying it would be delivered that day. I never received it. I needed the key in my hand for my job by no later than 2/1. I didn't receive the key when promised, so I had to get it made up elsewhere. I sent minute key an email explaining that I didn't get my key when promised, that I had to go elsewhere and that I didn't want it anymore and they keep arguing with me saying it was shipped and that I would receive it w/I 7-10 business days. I won't get a refund from work, they won't refund me and they charged me $10 more than anyone else, their customers service sucks and they will rip you off. I will be disputing this with my bank and just out of principle I will be looking to see what I can do legally.
reproduced my key easily and perfectly at a good price
It cut 3 copies of my my key, all perfectly.
The machine is easy to use.
And the price is quite decent.
Key doesn't work
Key doesn't work, the new key blank
doesn't even match the old one
This is the 2nd time in the last 3 uses of this exact machine this has happened. I only used the MinuteKey kiosk because nobody was available in the key cutting area
Obvious scam
Obvious scam. Key is no where near the correct cut. Company insisted I try it in the door. It obviously didn't work. Did I mention the 8 minute call wait before. Now trying to get a refund. Luckily paid with credit card so will refuse payment.
