Very expensive. Pushy sales strategy for shutters..
Wouldn't give a quote unless they came in person. Sales response spent a very long time and would only give the price at the end for blinds. Reasons we did not take the offer:
1. Sales strategy - decision had to me made now or never ( pressure) . Salesperson has to call boss got a price. Proce is only valid there and then.
2. Product only provided 5 years warranty. For a so called premium product, warranty is quite short.
3. Although the company exists for many years as a group, blinds are a relatively new product to them.
We did not see the value in the product to justify double the price of other suppliers.
Wouldn't go with Modern Blinds, Shop elsewhere
They wouldn't give a written quote. Wanted to bargain down the price and then wanted me to agree to price on the spot. I was told that price was not available past that day if I didn't say yes. Made me feel very uncomfortable. I would hate to think of a woman alone or an older vaunerable person with these people applying pressure like that for a sale. Funny thing is that we've had two quotes since and the way the Modern Blinds sales consultant said he wanted to install the blinds in an L frame, two other companies have said that wouldn't have even worked on our windows and we wouldn't have even been able to open and close our windows behind lol. Safe to say we made a VERY good decision disregarding Modern blinds and their dishonest way of doing business. Wouldn't recommend..Other two companies happily gave quotes that give 30 days to make a decision as a company is supposed to! My advice shop elsewhere, both other quotes came in alot cheaper too then Modern Blinds and their "Amazing" sale and discount 🤣

ZERO rate! Never even go with Modern group. They only care about the money. The product quality is crap! And the customer service even worse. We installed the outdoor blinds with them. Just 2weeks later outdoor blinds are damage by wind already. And I called them ,they said we shouldn't pull the blind down! Our main purpose to install the outdoor blind just for raining and windy weather which we have informed to sale person in first place. If we can't use during raining and windy weather then we won't install it at all. After few times contact with modern group ( the hardest thing to get them reply back to do) they refused to refund and only fix the damage track. But after they changed the track even their own installer can not manually operated blinds. He told us the binds too big and too heavy. He even tried to called the company to let them change to electronic remote. But the company refused to do it. So our blinds are totally useless now. And then they Modern group keep chasing us to pay the rest money, but we can't even use the blind and repair is not satisfied at all. If modern group did great job, we will absolutely pay the money. We pay for our product and service however we got nothing from this company. We had made complaint to consumer affair and they suggested us go through the court. I think we really need to do it.

If you're thinking of going to Modern Group for roller shutters, think again. Go somewhere else.
I had 5 shutters fitted in December 2021, less than a year ago at an average price of around $3000 each
One of the shutters sticks at the top and takes a few goes on the up and down buttons to get the shutter to lower.
Another shutter kept getting stuck when try to lower and now is stuck half way down and will not go up or down.
For both of these issues, when I called them to get a technician to fix the issue under warranty they advised, just get someone outside to pull down on the shutter while you press the button. That is idiotic and I live by myself.
The third shutter with issues refuses to open on cold mornings. It seems to overwind when it closes and then in morning it wont budge, once again continuously pressing up and down buttons will eventually get it to move most of the time.
So these extremely expensive shutters are rubbish. I have called twice to get the issues fixed under warranty and had empty promises that a technician would call me. Crickets chirping. Still waiting. No technicians have called and 60% of shutters have issues.
Another interesting point to make is that the older style shutters I had fitted on another three windows in 2011 by Gotta Getta Group are still functioning and never had issues.
So if you want decent shutters and more importantly, decent warranty and after sales service go somewhere else.

We hired this company for our roof top repairment and we have paid $1000 as deposit in March. The guy who came to our home told us that it's going to be done in a couple of months due to their staff shortage. We accepted that and decided to wait. Waiting, waiting, waiting, and now it's almost Sep. My husband has called their customer service three times already. They just postponed the schedule. Now I just want to get back my money!
Horrific sales tactics, twice the market price
We wanted to get roller shutters done for our house on the Gold Coast. Our friends gave us the mobile number of the sales rep who got their shutters done so we gave him a call. We should have been suspicious from the first moment as the guy told us he doesn`t work for Modern Group anymore and asked us not to mention his name if we call the company (warning sign 1). We called them anyway and a sales rep called us back. He scheduled a 4pm appointment, my wife said that will be ok as she won`t be home as she is picking up the kids, but I (husband) will be home. The sales rep said we both need to be there (warning sign 2). Why, would you ask, why would we both have to be there when all we want is a quote for 6 roller shutters? Then the guy said it will be a 1.5 hours presentation (warning sign 3). We didn`t want any presentation, we just wanted him to take the measurements and give us a quote. The guy turned up with a 25 years old bashed up car, stepped out with a huge briefcase dressed like a 90`s TV shop host. He didn`t look like a roller shutter technician but more like a cheesy door to door salesman. He came in, sat down and took out his presentation folder and started his presentation about the company, the other products (hello, it is 2020, who wants to listen to all that 1990`s sales pitch when all we want is roller shutters). All that while we had two young kids running around, wanting to play with us and getting ready for dinner. The psychological trick is based on the fact that average people do not want to be rude with someone "trying to do his job" so we listened to the marketing blabla for an hour. The interesting part was the "exceptional customer service part" - remember that while you read on. We finally got to the stage when he started calculating the price. For 6 windows he gave us a quote for $17.700!!!!!! For 6 windows (warning sign 4). And here comes the trick. We all saw the Wolf of Wall street and we all know the disgusting sales tactics from the 1990`s. That was the typical psychological sales trick. He said if we are happy to put up a sign at the front he can lower the price to $13.500 but first he has to "call his boss". We knew this oldschool trick but just wanted to get over it. Long story short my wife told him the maximum we are willing to pay is $10.000. He called his boss again (same fake car yard salesman tactic) and said this offer is only valid now, we also have to write them positive reviews and if we don`t order the shutters on the spot we won`t get this price so we agreed and paid 10% deposit and he finally left (the trick is to make sure the customers do not get online and check for other offers before signing up). He said we will get a call from the company the next day to arrange installation. We had a bad feeling after he left so started checking them online and found exactly the same stories about the company`s sales tactics. I also found a quote from another company in my email box from last year for the same product category for $6700. We realized how silly we were and how bad we fell for this old trick so my wife called them the next morning to cancel the order. We realized there is no direct number to them, they hire a call-center and you can simply not talk to them directly (wonder why..). The same morning my wife received the call from them to arrange the installation but my wife said she wants to cancel the order. The lady on the phone said she can`t do it as she doesn`t have our file in front of her (really? How did you want to book the installation if you don`t have our file in front of you? LIE no.1) but they will call us back. They didn`t call us back (LIE no.2) so my wife sent them an email and called them 7!!! times. She finally got to a guy called [name removed] who tried everything to sell at least 1 roller shutter to us even tho my wife told him we don`t want to buy any. Finally, he said if we get the money back they will charge us $100 for administration fees (nice shot man...). He said he needs to get confirmation from his boss (LIE no.3) and will email my wife back. The email never arrived (LIE no.4) so my wife sent them another email telling them if they keep ignoring us she will put the whole story on all social media channels. They called her back immediately and we got an email from [name removed] who turned out to be the Production Manager himself. He finally promised to send our money back within 5 days. After 7 days we still haven`t heard of them so my wife called [name removed] 6 times, but couldn't get hold of him. He sent us an email saying the cancellation is still being processed (LIE no.5) and we will get the money back within 5 days (last week he promised 5 days, now we are counting 9 days). They did not send back the money within the second 5 days either. We received our money 2 weeks later instead (note, they promised 5 days).

Similar to the other comments, I was asked where is my husband and on top of that was asked every other question except getting a proper quote done. Also told me that the discount no longer applies as advertised. I felt really uncomfortable with them. Told them I’m not interested. Lucky I have cameras inside and an alarm so have their face just in case. That’s how uncomfortable I felt around them. Really dodgy.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! SHOCKING SERVICE. It has been 6 months since we signed our quote for outdoor blinds. They said it would be installed in time for summer and now it is nearly winter. We were extremely happy that they were super fast in booking us in for our installation the next month, however it was all downhill from there. There were issues with the product and it could not be installed. The installers said a new motor had to be ordered so we waited. And waited and waited. 3 months passed and no word from Modern at all. There was absolutely no communication. I had to ring them nearly every week to find out what was going on and Jay (installation manager) had no idea. He would constantly tell me he would get back to me but I would never hear back from him. We did not mind the waiting but the lack of communication and disorganisation was appalling. We just wanted our blinds installed. The installers and electricians that came (multiple times may I say) were fantastic but the installation team and management definitely needs work. Our blinds have finally been installed, but not correctly. They do not go up properly and the blinds are sitting crooked. Once again, it has been a struggle to get in touch with them and now they are chasing us to pay them even though they have not installed our blinds properly. This has been a complete nightmare and I would definitely NOT recommend them.

We were quoted for our outdoor blinds back in November 2021 and were told that they would be installed by Mid January.
What a load of BS that turned out to be.Mid February and still not completed. A Guy came to install about 3 weeks ago did about 2 hrs Work and left.Leaving Aluminium filings all over the Patio Floor and the work that was done could have been done better by a 10 Yr old. Have since been fed BS about when they're coming back only to be disappointed again and again. Unfortunately the clever mongers don't put a completion date only ASAP.
That's not a contract!! How do they keep getting away with this? No morals about getting work done and the work they have done is very Poor. I say all those that feel ripped off as we do, should get together and make our complaints to our local ombudsman... Local Company with 40 Yrs experience Pffft..

I purchased solar hot water system and…
I purchased solar hot water system and solar panels from Modern about 11 years ago. The solar hot water was unsatisfactory and I eventually scrapped it and put a new one in through a different supplier. The old system had cost me considerable amount just to keep it running and was not of the highest quality as Modern advertised.
The solar panels had a 25 year guarantee for 80% of the nominal output. But recently a contractor who cleaned the panels said the original 8 panels were delaminating and had micro cracks. Modern advised if I wanted them to assess the panels it would cost $220 for a review and any further work I would have to at least pay for the labour. The state of the panels if it continues to deteriorate could cause a fire.
The lack of effective warranty shows their guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on. The sales staff made a big point of the 25 year warranty and the high quality of their products.
I believe from my experience their products are not good quality and their actions do not match their words. A very disappointing outcome and a company I will never deal with again or recommend to anyone I know
WORST COMPANY EVER. POOR QUALITY WORKMANSHIP
Modern Group are a the WORST company that I have ever dealt with. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF DODGY NON CARING LIARS. THEY ARE THAT BAD THAT THEIR CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT DOESN’T EVEN CARE. MONEY FIRST, CUSTOMER LAST, that should be their motto. Not to mention how poor quality their workmanship is. I’ve never been so incredibly disappointed with a company in my life until I came across Modern Group Brisbane. They don’t reply to my emails because they know that their work is dodgy and don’t want to own up to it. My roof looked like crap after they did it. I am happy to keep writing bad reviews for the next 10 years only because they keep ignoring me and expect me to pay and do work that they should have done in the first place.

Nothing but issues with our order
Sales person gave us wrong info on payment schedule, told deposit of 10% followed by 30% on order being processed. Then took 50% at order. Was told 6-8 weeks for install, now 4 mths later still waiting. Install was meant to be completed by 4/5/21, was told in June it’s not that delayed it’s only 8 weeks now. Said how do you get that, response was I checked the calendar. Ordered on the 09/03 8wkswookbe 4/5, now 9/07 and still waiting. Install was organised after last complaint with them saying latest would e 30/06. Surprise surprise, that didn’t eventuate and was organised for install today 09/07, so my husband takes the day off work with no show and received a call saying shutters are damaged and can’t install, but also can’t give me a date. Don’t trust a word this company says.

Now the 21/07 and yet again still nothing, going to speak to my manager about it is all you will ever get. The Qld plantation shutter manager Sandy advised today she has no idea who QBCC is, fortunately the QBCC know of the modern group licence number 79335 for those wanting to lodge a complaint. Again have left several messages for Sandys manager to call and yet again nothing. Funny how Sandy doesn’t also know who her manager reports to, the only information she will give you is her managers name is Paul.
Qld Fair Trading has been great to deal with but are also unable to get any reply from modern with modern advising they haven’t had any communication from them.
You will get the run around saying that in the contract it states you need to give modern a chance to rectify the situation. Well in your contract modern you’ve stated completion by 6-8 weeks. I then gave you the opportunity to install a few weeks due to delays and then again by the 30/06, that wasn’t completed. You then called on the 30/06 stating install next week. My husband took the day off only to get a call from modern saying they are damaged and they can’t install and would call back with a new date. Hell no you have now had 3 opportunities to rectify your shithouse service.
Please do not give money to this company. If you have make sure you lodge a complaint with fair trading and qbcc.

Modern group called me using their outdated hard sell script, they asked if my husband would be home on the day of inspection and if they could have his number. They wouldn’t make an appointment unless we were both present. Even though I said I was free Thursday twice and ignored. “How bout Saturday is your husband home.”
Then they started calling my partner 3 times to confirm the appointment.
Never rang me again. I just don’t get it. If the situation was reversed would it be the same. I doubt it.

I called Modern for a quote on a small section of damaged roof and full restoration.
After telling the admin staff that my husband would not be present for the inspection, the man arrived to carry out the quote.
Following a few minutes of chit chat, he asked if my husband would be here soon. I told him that no, he was not attending and that there was no need for him to be here, that I could confidently relay any information and that if he had questions, my husband was capable of calling Modern himself.
I got a speil about it being better if both parties were present. I reiterated again that I was more than capable, and that if their policy was for a husband to be present, he could leave.
He told me that it wasn't a female problem (ummmm, this comment made it a female problem) but that it was better to have everyone on the same page. Mate, if I tell you my husband and I are capable or exchanging information and following up accordingly, don't question me. Do the job you were engaged to carry out.
He started the inspection, then about 5 minutes later, came to the door and asked if my husband would be home the following weekend. When I said yes, he asked if he could reschedule for that weekend. I firmly said that if he could not carry out the quote with myself only, he could leave and would engage another business. However if it wasn't policy for a husband to be present, and he was willing to carry out the quote, he could stay and do so. In hindsight, I should have sent him packing then and there.
He agreed to do the quote.
About 30 minutes later, he came back to the door and told me that the roof had only been restored approximately 3 years prior and that he could not fix the section if damage as it wouldn't be worth his time. He recommended a local handyman instead.
I know for fact the roof was last restored over 10 years ago. The admin specifically told me that Modern could fix the damaged roof independently of a restoration process.
Don't waste your time with this company, I'm beyond disgusted.

Then honest work. Their salesman was a- Pauling calling the office every two minutes with no people skills who also measured the job incorrectly. I wish I had trusted my instincts then. After placing a deposit I had to constantly call them to find out when they were booking the job in as their was no communication for weeks. Having all of my gutters replaced has resulted in roofing issues now that weren’t there before but when asked about it Im simply told to hire a roofer. I dread rainy days more then ever before! Clean up after the job was sloppy and Im still finding screws in my driveway carelessly left behind. Currently have towels under my doors as water is overflowing out of the gutters.

My roofing experience was not good with Modern roofing . They damaged more than they fixed. They had no safe work practices, which led to my 74 year old father getting injured. They have been back three times to try and fix a leak they have caused and will not commit to any times. The sales pitch should of been a good indicator as they claimed I had 119 cracked tiles that needed replacing and yet their contractor only replaced 38 , so 81 tiles must still be cracked up there. They have also ruined my guttering and sealed in great chunks of pointing material which stops my gutters from flowing . I would never recommend them and have even taken steps with QBCC, ACCC ad work place health and safety to try and stop the cowboy mentality . I am lucky that I have cctv throughout so I can support my claims . If you are going to use Modern roofing . Get a second opinion to find out what is really damaged up there
Rude nasty customer service
This company uses call centre pressure tactics to arrange in-home appointments. They call you multiple times just to make one small appointment, including the night before and the morning of. This is both time-consuming and extremely frustrating and makes most people annoyed. When I expressed my exasperation on call number 5, yes 5, l was accused of being rude and told that there were notes “all over my file how rude I was“. If this is the way this company conducts business, I don’t want anything to do with them. Unbelievable.
