This refers to the Barley Lodge Cadnam New Forest
We have visited this hotel many times over the years, but our most recent stay was deeply disappointing. It felt as though standards have declined since the Shammas family ran the hotel now appears to be managed by Rockingham Partners, and my impression is that the focus is more on turnover than on delivering the quality and service guests expect. We have stayed in all their hotels over the past 25 years, so this experience came as a real shock, especially as we were travelling with other family members. The rooms were unkempt, housekeeping failed to service our rooms despite three requests, and dinner took around three hours from start to finish. Overall, the food, service and quality have declined significantly. Sadly, we will not visit the hotel again. Three nights for my family cost more than £1,500, yet the room was uncomfortably hot and the service was extremely poor, which has never been our experience here in the past. My advice would be to reconsider the current management arrangement and restore the level of service that once made this an excellent hotel.

We were a family of 8 staying over new years for 2 nights . Whilst parts of the hotel are a bit tired the setting is beautiful and location is convenient to explore the new forest towns very easily. The rooms were pleasant although for light sleepers u would avoid rooms 5 and 6 as directly about the bar area . The outstanding part of our stay was the staff especially in the restaurant and bar who were so pleasant and helpful throughout our stay - nothing was too much trouble even when they were busy ! The food on New Year’s Eve and the following night was very good and enjoyed by all . Overall an enjoyable stay

I “ limped in to” the New Forest Lodge hotel car park in my nearly flat electric car, fortunately the very hospitable Hotel Manager ,Simone took pity and directed me to the chargers in the car park, after experiencing problems - I think my car was so ‘flat’ that the charger refused to work- I forlornly I set about contacting the insurance company….
Deciding that I would have to leave the car there for an extended period I went back to reception to explain…
Simone could not have been kinder and offered me a seat and a coffee whilst I thought through the options!
Then he asked if I thought the car would move to another charger on the other side of the hotel, this I tried and Bingo! The charger worked perfectly and I could relax in the coffee lounge whilst it charged!
45 minutes later I was able to resume my journey ..

Oh yes , I forgot to mention , I was not even a guest of the hotel but had noticed that they had a car charger from the electric car charging app…..

I have to say the hospitality shown, certainly suggests that if I ever need to stay somewhere in The New Forest I definitely know where to now!!

Room 10 Bartley Lodge Hotel. My biggest concern was the screws fixing the windows in a locked position, this was due to the poor condition they were in. Surely, this is a safety issue in case of a fire, no secondary escape route. The room was basically cleaned. Higher places like light fittings were unclean and seem to have not been done in a long time. The shower hose was damaged and mold in the shower cubicle. The room was extremely hot due to the window being screwed in place. The very small room fan providing was thick we dust. All furniture was very damaged over time. Vanity unit taps loose. Bed and bed linen are very comfortable. Breakfast is almost excellent. Staff were helpful. First impression on arriving, the hotel and gardens were empresive. Unfortunately, the garden seating was stored away wet. therefore, we all received wet bums. Overall, the hotel needs a revamp. Maybe that's why the lift and swimming pool were out of action. It is an empresive website. Unfortunately, it does not represent today's condition. No way is this today 4-star hotel.

Bartley Lodge Hotel-
Mattress was 13 years old by label, and covered in stains as well as sunken on one side with extremely broken springs which made it very uncomfortable This ruined our weekend in Hampshire.The room had filthy windows, tired carpets and was uncleaned with hairs everywhere.

Curtains didn't reach windows so let so much light in that you woke with the sun. Radiator was on constantly in bathroom so room was sweltering.

Bathroom socket was rusty and tap was broken. mastic was rotting on the uneven floor and bin area was marked and stained.

Bedroom lamp did not work and when we complained the receptionist wrote it on a post it note- We never heard back.

Breakfast was poor quality and tepid. and you were misled with signs into thinking there was real honey available when it was actually a blended foreign honey with corn syrup. I know, I'm a beekeeper.

I would not recommend this hotel, and at £150 a night it was such a rip off.

I have photos if needed to back this all up -I will never use this chain of hotels again.
