This was my time using a "public" charger as I have just got my first Ev. I charged for 20mins to test out Dc charging. I used 12.62kw (£10.98)
When I finished i clicked "stop charging" on the electroverse app. This didn't actually stop the charging session so I clicked "forced stop" on the app, then unplugged the charging lead from the car. A couple of hours later I received the bill for £32.41! 37.25 kwh! And duration of 4h 20m! Would this be a fault with the electroverse app, or the charger itself? If this has happened on my very first charge, how many other people have been overcharged?! It's obviously now put me off public charging. I was so worried that I would be charged even more that I drove back to the location and plugged in, without using the app,electroverse card or credit card. To my relief it didn't charge my car....

Fast chargers, helpful customer service

Have used their chargers when travelling longer distances around the country. Generally a reliable faster charge. Good deals via Electroverse too.
Had issues once with a car park site issuing fines but Osprey were super helpful and quick in getting that cancelled.

Access to the chargers was through a scruffy pub car park in Welshpool. The pubs car park company have issued a penalty notice for none payment of parking charges. WTF.

Customers using the Osprey chargers are required to scan the ‘SIPPI’ QR code applied to the charger and then enter their vehicle registration number when prompted. No problems with Osprey

No problems with Osprey. The Osprey GO, is very good ,plug in, then Stop ,,unplug and away you go.

Quick & easy, but the parking fine was a hassle

On the way back from a funeral, I charges my Tesla at the Welshpool charging station - quick and easy. Unfortunately I didn't see the small sign which said I had to register my car via a QR code to avoid a parking fine, which duly arrived. Although Osprey Charging cancelled it when I complained, it was a lot of stress and hassle. These parking fines are ridiculous. I know they are in a lot of charging sites, across lots of charging companies, but there should be a different system, or MUCH bigger signs.

Osprey charging is very expensive

Osprey charging is very expensive. I regularly pay 82p/kwh on-street in Cardiff and have just plugged in to an identical 50kw machine in Leominster provided by a company called swarco at 64p/kwh. How can that huge difference be justified?

The charger was the fastest I've used…

The charger was the fastest I've used in 3 1/2 years of owning an EV.
Posted as 200kW, we saw 120kW max.
The weather was cold and the battery wasn't pre-conditioned, there where also 3 other cars charging at the hub. So it was approximately what I expected.
However, Osprey take a deposit of £45 for the credit card. I don't have a problem with that in principle, it was refunded promptly, but there was no notification warning of a deposit, it was bit of a surprise when I check that card statement.
The power is also expensive, more than x10 what I pay at home.

Yes, we can confirm that our chargers will perform a funds check of £45 on your bank account depending on the charger used. This is just a pre-check and is not actually taken from your bank account. Please note that some banks (including Monzo, Starling and Revolut) will show this as a transaction on your statement, however, the charge is pending and will usually clear within seven working days.
Lastly, with regards to the cost of charging- public rapid charging is generally more expensive than home charging because networks face significantly higher fixed energy and infrastructure costs, including large grid connection charges that have risen sharply in recent years. At Osprey, we aim to keep prices fair by offering lower rates through the Osprey App, plus in-app promotions including an even cheaper Weekend Saver Rate to support regular drivers.

So I used Osprey charging for first…

So I used Osprey charging for first time for a top up . £45 was taken from my debit card immediately on the 3rd December which I now know was because I used a starling debit card.I charged my car for 30 mins and had no indication or receipt to say how much it was , I was informed however that the difference would be refunded within 7 working days . It is now the 16th December and I have received nothing , can someone please explain

We're really sorry to hear that you are still awaiting the difference to be refunded, following your charging session. Please drop us a note at support@ospreycharging.co.uk and we can investigate this further for you.

At the start of a charging session on our Osprey network, a £45 pre-authorisation payment is placed on your card to ensure there are enough funds to carry out the charging session. If your charging session costs more than £45, we keep this amount and charge the additional cost on top. If your charging session costs less than £45, we will refund you the difference. The time this takes is usually around 2-5 working days with Starling Bank but can take longer.

Rest assured; you will only be charged the cost of your charging session. Any pending payments that appear incorrect will soon adjust to the correct cost.
