Absolutely not fit for purpose.
This system has turned what used to be a straightforward phone call to a GP surgery into an exhausting, stressful battle — especially for people already struggling with chronic illness, pain, or mental health.
I contacted my GP regarding chronic pain and worsening symptoms, only to be sent through repeated Anima requests, offered inappropriate appointment options, and then left with no appointments available at all. After following the process twice, I ended up back at square one.
What happened to being able to ring your surgery, explain what was wrong, and receive a same-day doctor call if clinically appropriate? Instead, patients are expected to repeatedly complete online requests while in pain, distressed, exhausted, and already struggling to function.
For neurodivergent people, people with chronic pain, fatigue, poor mental health, or anyone overwhelmed, this system creates barriers rather than support. It feels impersonal, frustrating, and inaccessible.
Healthcare should not feel like a constant fight for basic support. Systems like this may look efficient on paper, but the reality for patients is very different.
