If you're reading reviews because you're weighing up accountants, save yourself the time and go with PayStream. If Trustpilot allowed six stars, they'd have them from me — five doesn't quite cover it.

They've been my accounting partner since I set up my limited company, and I'm not sure I'd have got the business off the ground as smoothly without them. Starting out in IT contracting, the admin side is genuinely daunting: incorporation, what you can and can't claim, VAT, IR35, how to structure things so you're not storing up problems for later. PayStream took all of that on and explained it in plain English, never once making me feel I should have already known it.

The thing that will matter most to you day to day is responsiveness, and this is where they're exceptional. Questions rarely arrive at a convenient moment when you're contracting, and knowing you'll get a proper answer the same day rather than a holding email a week later takes an enormous weight off. I've never had to chase them.

What I value most, though, is that they've stood by me through the good times and the difficult ones. Business isn't a straight line, and there have been stretches where things were tight and uncertain. PayStream never treated me any differently — same care, same responsiveness, same willingness to talk it through and help me find a way forward. Plenty of firms are excellent when everything's going well. Far fewer are just as good when it isn't. That's the real test, and they passed it.

They've also gone well beyond the numbers, advising me on how best to run the business itself rather than simply filing what needed filing. That's the difference between an accountant and an actual partner.

The whole team has been brilliant, but my genuine thanks go to Alya. She has been absolutely outstanding from day one and is a huge part of why I'd never look elsewhere — patient, meticulous and always three steps ahead, spotting things before they become issues, explaining the reasoning rather than just the answer, and never once making a question feel like a silly one. She clearly cares about getting it right for the people she looks after, and it shows in everything she does. Alya, thank you — you've made running this business far easier than it had any right to be. If you end up working with her, you're in exceptionally good hands.

So whether you're setting up your first limited company or thinking about leaving a provider that isn't serving you well, I'd recommend PayStream without hesitation and twice over. Simply the best decision I made for my business.

I have consistently had an excellent experience with PayStream. Whenever I have called or spoken with anyone there, every member of the team has been supportive, kind, considerate and professional. They genuinely take the time to listen, understand and provide an excellent level of customer care.

Most recently, I have been assisted by Peter, who has been exceptional. He has taken genuine ownership of my query, kept me updated throughout and made every effort to progress matters on my behalf. His communication has always been clear and reassuring, and I have really appreciated the time, care and effort he has put into helping me.

Although Peter deserves particular recognition for the outstanding support he has provided, his approach also reflects the consistently high standard of service I have experienced from PayStream generally. Every colleague I have dealt with has made me feel valued and treated me with genuine kindness and respect.

Peter is a real credit to PayStream, and the wider team should also be incredibly proud of the care and support they provide. I would happily recommend PayStream based on the consistently excellent service I have received.

I have found the whole process of asking paystream to conduct my financial affairs to be a great decision so far. Communication, Advice and Actions have been spot on, helping me to concentrate on getting my business up and running whilst the paystream software and team help with the financial advice.

Always someone on hand to help and explain things which has been greatly appreciated. Jordan has been super helpful and patient to a newbie contractor through Umbrella.
The only reason a star has been knocked off is that when I first called a Paystream CS member said timesheets would be done through them not the agency - this caused a bit of confusion and took up some time (it wasn't Jordan!).

I’m trying to get a reference out of PayStream for my last contract, just a basic statement of my job description job and the duration of the contract. I’ve been waiting for a week I’ve called every day to their service desk and just get fobbed. The whole reference system at PayStream seems to be a total mess made worse by the implementation of some system called Konfir.

Having used Paystream for quite some time (around 3 years), I can tell that this is a very good company. They are always ready to help, the website is reliable (albeit not the best looking). For certain circumstance, I had to change to another umbrella, and months after, I had to call them and ask for help that was not particularly easy to solve and Sam K handled it really well and proved to be extremely helpful and going above and beyond to ensure I got what I needed. Very happy with them.

My experienced with them is not too bad for the moment.

Brilliant service I am very impressed

I recently registered with PayStream’s umbrella service and have been very pleased with the experience so far. The onboarding process felt very smooth and straightforward, and everything was handled in a professional manner. Peter from Customer care team was very helpful and made the process easy to understand.

I have never needed to use an umbrella company before and so the process is all very new to me. The two people who I have dealt with so far have been fantastic, they’ve taken the time to explain everything I need to know. I received a call the day after joining to ensure everything was ok and that I understood everything. Support has also been offered going forward if required. Fantastic customer service!

He took the time to explain everything clearly, including mileage, difficult situations, and all the different circumstances I had questions about. He was always patient, knowledgeable, and able to answer everything I asked. I really appreciated his support and would definitely recommend Shaz and the customer care team.
