The exam tested my understanding of project management, especially the appropriate mindset, knowledge, skills of a project manager.

The testing centre staff were professional and helpful.

The technology worked well without any interruptions and the timer kept me focused on completing in time.

Scheduling the exam was easy and straightforward. PMI was also very accessible, with 24/7 support available when needed. In addition, the turnaround time for receiving the exam results was extremely fast.

I joined PMI last year and renewed my membership this year while pursuing my PMP certification. Overall, my experience with PMI has been positive. The preparation resources—particularly PMI Study Hall—helped me develop the critical thinking, pacing, and endurance required for the examination. The scenario-based questions and full-length practice exams were challenging, but they prepared me to pass Above Target in all three domains.

The post-exam process was also efficient. I received my results promptly and could easily access my certificate and verified digital badge.

One area for improvement is the overall candidate journey, which involves several platforms, including PMI, Pearson VUE, and Credly. A clearer, centralized roadmap covering exam formats, breaks, results, certification documents, and digital badges would make the process feel less fragmented. Some Study Hall “expert” questions also involve very subtle distinctions between reasonable answers. More detailed explanations identifying the decisive clue—and clearer guidance on interpreting practice scores and exam readiness—would be extremely helpful.

Based on my experience as both a PMI member and PMP candidate, PMI provides a rigorous, credible, and rewarding professional certification experience.

I purchased and took the prep course. While the lessons were helpful and well structured, there were several challenges and frustrations. The first being that one needed to have a firm knowledge of Agile project management in advance. Second, the prep test questions at the end did NOT align with the questions asked throughout the modules. I not only had to research and study a substantial amount of new material, but I also felt that I needed to search other sources (other than the prep course) to learn the material. Last, when I went back to retake the prep exam, it wouldn't let me -- despite the course saying the test was open to retake until the course material expires.

There was an abundance of resources, which made studying feasibe. The Exam was a beast, but manageable.

The information provided and sample exams helped prepared for the test. But the content is very IT and construction focused. There are other industries that require project management it would be great to expand a bit on the knowledge content

Taking the PMP was like a hurdle that felt like it can’t be crossed with everything going on at the same time and thinking about upskilling as a financial analyst, but I took the bull by the horns and it was worth it. I am certified and I am happy. The platform and experience were smooth, and the questions were technical but deep thinking was the way out.

My overall experience pursuing the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI) was highly positive. From submitting my application to scheduling and completing the examination, I found the process well structured, transparent, and easy to navigate.
I particularly appreciated the flexibility of the scheduling process. When changing circumstances required me to reschedule more than once and request an extension, PMI was responsive, and each step was handled in a straightforward and professional manner.
The only disappointing aspect of my experience arose with my initial examination appointment, which I missed because of a misunderstanding regarding the time zone. Although I understood the applicable policy, having to pay the examination fee again to secure a new test date was an unfortunate setback.
Having last completed a formal project management certification examination in 2008, when I earned my PRINCE2 qualification, returning to this level of study and assessment after many years was a significant undertaking. I was therefore delighted to conclude the journey by passing the PMP examination with an Above Target rating in all three domains tested.
Overall, my experience with PMI was rewarding, and I am proud to have achieved the PMP certification. The journey required commitment and perseverance, but the outcome made it well worth the effort.
