Don’t waste your time
I had an ASD assessment with RTN Mental Health Solutions on 6th March and the experience waiting for my report has been extremely stressful and emotionally draining.
From the beginning, I was given different timeframes for my report completion – initially around 6 weeks, then 8 weeks, and later 8–12 weeks. I was then told that the 8–12 week timeframe is only a guideline rather than a fixed timescale. This ongoing change in expectations has made the process very confusing and difficult to cope with.
Throughout the waiting period, I also received inconsistent updates about the stage of my report, including being told it was with a psychologist, then that it was awaiting assignment, and later more detailed internal explanations. While I appreciate attempts to reassure me, the lack of clear and consistent communication has only increased anxiety and distress.
At times, I have felt completely uncertain about when or even if my report would be completed. The delay and unclear communication has had a significant negative impact on my mental health, and I am now considering returning to my GP to seek assessment elsewhere.
I understand that clinical work can take time and workloads vary, but clearer communication and more realistic expectations from the beginning would have made this process far easier to manage.
I hope this feedback helps improve communication and transparency for others going through the same process, as no one should be left feeling this confused and distressed during an already difficult assessment pathway.
