Compared to other sites this one is…

Compared to other sites this one is very particular about the books they get and will reject easily. When I have tried to refute a rejection as I did not feel it warranted they were not very helpful and kept repeating their policies. My last order looks as though they have lost one package and sent payment without even being informed about this.

DON’T USE THIS COMPANY!!

DON’T USE THIS COMPANY!!! I sent off a large amount of books with the promise of almost £15 in payment. I received just over £3! The company claimed that they had to reject a large number of books. I believe that this was a deliberate ploy to get good books for free and, sadly, covers were torn on purpose on a few books by the company when I asked for evidence. My advice would be to use Ziffit and We Buy Books instead who pay out the full amount that they promised.

Fairly good turn around

Accepted books other sites had turned down, but amount offered wasn't great. However, free postage and local drop off points are handy. Payment takes 10-14 days from drop off, so fairly smooth quick turn around.

I gave lots of beautiful books away, to make my family some much needed money for essential items in these hard times we are all facing. I have now technically been robbed in broad daylight. How do these people actually sleep at night?

Avoid dealing with this company

Avoid dealing with this company. They have not processed my payment for more than 1 month and I am still waiting . Contacted them numerous times and they keep delaying payment for no reason. I have dealt with several other companies without any problems , however sell it back is awful. with the cost of living crisis I had to sell books to help me with food and bills, now they took my books and did not pay me and I’m struggling .

…don't waste your time with these

Don't waste your time scanning there prices are rubbish when they do give you a gòod price for a book that is in perfect condition they will rip the cover and say that it was ripped when it was sent because that happened to me also they take so long to pay once I waited for 3 weeks before they paid me do not use this company to sale you stuff Webuybooks & Ziffit are miles better

In relation to your comment on us ripping books, please note that doing so would not be of any benefit to us given that we are the ones paying to ship the items from either a residence or the parcel shop, back to us. We buy used books and we accept them as long as they are in line with our quality guidelines. The reason we do that is because we then in turn, sell them. So that is therefore, another reason why ripping a book as you have suggested we do is not going to be in our interest.

Avoid, they expect you to pack 43 books in 1 box then spend money driving it to collection point. Use ziffit instead

When you sell via the app it tells you how many boxes to pack. I was told to pack 43 mostly hardback books into one box. The limit is 15kg, the books weighed over 17kg. They've replied to say that's not the case, well I took screenshots, so they clearly need to work on their app as that is not accurate. I was told *I* had to drive those books to a collection point. Meanwhile Ziffit already confirmed a DPD courier and collected the next working day. I used this app at the same time as a test to see if it's better than ziffit. I called customer service immediately to try and figure out what was going on. Nobody there. Ok after work hours, fine I'll email. No reply until after I left the original trustpilot review, and that was two working days later. They offered a collection, even though now they've decided they only do collection for 60+ books (used to not be the case) so that was good. The first guy who called was very polite and I was feeling much more positive about the app and everything. Sadly, the second guy was extremely rude and even though I told him I was busy he insisted on being rude to me for no reason, for that only I would not recommend this app. I would also not use this app again as expecting me to lift 17kg of books to a collection point isn't good. Lastly, it's been nearly two weeks and I still have not been paid, and like other reviewers one of the perfect books they said was "ripped" which was not the case. Ziffit came to collect, paid more, and paid quicker. The only plus point to this app is they take some items ziffit don't, but it's absolutely not worth the 1p they pay for most items. Put your books in a little free library instead. Will update if I get paid.

Having investigated the matter we can confirm that we do not advise customers to pack all books into one box, neither do we insist that they be dropped-off. The choice is the customers, depending on the number of items. We see that we actually offered you a home collection as a gesture of goodwill.

Therefore we do genuinely engage customers as and when needed to ensure the best experience possible. If you can please provide us any information you have that indicates our advice on packaging and drop-off as you state in your feedback, it will help us look into this matter further.

We also wish to point out that you emailed us on a Saturday when our Customer Experience team was not at work. Unfortunately we are unable to respond during non-working hours. To then say we did not respond is unfair.

Bit of a rip off tbh

Bit of a rip off tbh. Mint condition books mostly valued at 3. then they had the cheek to reject 2 books i sent, but these were only valued at 3p and 10p it wasn't worth arguing about. However, although not paid for these books- they were not returned to me - but the money deducted from the small sale value. Never found out which 2 were rejected or why. Wouldn’t recommend or use this company again.

And finally, in relation to not knowing why your books were rejected, we offer all our customers the option to view images of the books we have rejected on your Sellitback account. If you take time to check on this feature, you would be appropriately informed on why we rejected your book(s).

Recurring Issues with Sellitback…

Two recurring problems with Sellitback. One relatively minor, the other...make you own mind up.

Firstly damaged book rejections. Fair enough you might think, but in the two most recent instances book covers which were definitely undamaged when packed became torn in almost exactly the same manner which would definitely have been noticed and dealt with BEFORE the item was packed. Customer Support a waste of time, offering a self referring bot-loop of "Here is photo of damaged item...damaged item rejected as per T&C...avoid sending damaged items" logic, completely ignoring email explaining damage likely caused by some h**** ****d (heavy handed, cleanse your minds) herbert at their end racing to meet a parcel opening shift quota.

Secondly and most weirdly...items I've never scanned appearing on the accepted items list on my account when I log in - when there shouldn't be anything there. Reported this to Customer Support but no response. Easy enough to remove it's true...but what if grotty items were added? Yuk. Even worse Sellitback hold bank account details on my profile in plain text (not hashed, partially blanked or encrypted) so if there's a flaw allowing data leakage across user accounts, how safe is your personal data with this operation?

To be fair parcels end up in the right place eventually. Trades are processed reasonably quickly and payments come through OK. But in my experience probably the slowest and least responsive of the major players.

But data leakage is a genuine concern. Definitely considering terminating relationship with Sellitback because of this.

Your thoughts on the speed with which we process your orders and eventually pay is appreciated and we will pass it on the relevant stakeholders to look into.

We hope to also address the other concerns here as well. Firstly, damaged book rejections - it appears that you are suggesting we might have had something to do with the damages caused to the books you sent us. Please note that we pay for these books to be shipped from either drop-off points or one’s home/office if it were a collection. We also buy to resell.

Therefore it is in our interest to ensure the books are in the condition as outlined in our Quality Guidelines. If they are not, it is the obligation of 'herbert' to ensure he is doing as per the training he has received. It is also therefore, not in our interest to offer/pay for the books, pay for it to be shipped to us and then damage them intentionally during processing. We hope this makes sense.

Secondly, in relation to the self-referring bot loop, we draft responses to customers to ensure clear, simple and effective communication. We also ensure we reference our T&C’s as these establish the ground rules when it comes to how we do business in relation to offering for, receiving and processing customer orders.

Thirdly, we apologize that you are seeing items you never scanned, in your account. To be honest, we have never had this feedback in the many years we have been operating as Sellitback. But there is always a first.

For us this would mean, the possibility of paying customers for items they never put through which is a risk we would have mapped-out and taken measures to prevent. If this has occurred we would like our Tech Support team to look into – if you can please share screenshots or simply an order ID, we will do the needful. Uploading ‘grotty’ content is something we do not have time for.

And finally, your feedback on us holding bank details on your profile in plain text is concerning. and we empathise with you if you are worried. We have looked into this matter and it appears to be a glitch or a bug, especially given that we have had no other similar reports. Therefore it appears to be an insolated incident. This is clearly something no body wants and we take such feedback extremely seriously. If you can share your order ID, someone in our team will be in touch so that we can take a closer look at this.

Sellitback very slow on payout

Sent 4 boxes of books which were collected from my home address.

Value of the books was around £18 that was then reduced to £15 on the payment schedule and again reduced to £13.

I only wanted to test the promptness of the transaction. They had the books on the 20th took till today 29th only because I phoned them up and ask them where's the payment.

Collection prompt payment very slow wouldn't use them again too slow on payout.

I tried this company for the first…

I tried this company for the first time. Sent 2 boxes with almost 100 books in good condition (should have taken photos) and they claim that around 20 were not good for selling and then they kept the books. Most of the books for 1p. Collection was a nightmare. I used to sell my books to Ziffit and I have never this kind of problems. I will not recommend.
