If I could give zero star I would, this organisation are criminals. I bit for something that seemed to function but once I won the bid I found out it was broken, they also give you only 24 hours to collect your stuff or you have to pay extra £60 for anything that has not been collected after 24 hours. They basically make it impossible for you to collect you stuff within that 24 hours time frame. I wonder why places like this still exist, they’re scammers AVOID at all cost , else you’re ready to throw your money in the bin
COMPLETELY AVOID. Bought an LED face mask as new. Came without charging cable or accessories. No mention of this in the listing. Contacted ‘customer care’ and they don’t care in all honesty. Horrible company. Will be doing a chargeback through my bank
Lots of negative reviews on here. I've been bidding with Simon Charles for many years I've had some excellent items recent one Louis vitton bag in a box of other stuff turned out to be a genuine 🤣 paid peanuts for it you need to know what your doing and it's a gamble they don't make you bid think on. I've had some crap I've hit big it's what you get on auctions. Don't dis the house for your mistake or greed I've messaged to ask the staff before bidding and been answered I've contacted customer service and they've been very helpful. There are good bargains to be had but sometimes it don't work like that but don't Diss the place you bidded. I'm extremely happy with most of my past wins ty very much SC.
Smelly, dirty unusable article. How this business is still in operation baffles me.
I bought a throw. It smelled like dog, well used and with brown stains on it. Obviously did not expect this as a purchasable item. Steer clear.
They have sold me a completely broken item . The pictures of the item was taken the way to deliberately void the broken part. They are refusing to give my money back. It's a scammers. They a selling broken items to people.
If I could give zero stars I would !! Absolutely disgusting… bought a dining table and chairs and received just the glass table top that’s it !! They are complete crooks and deceiving people. Refused to give a refund & the staff attitude is terrible, will never use them again.
Office/support staff are terrible
the lots are what they are if you are going to buy returns your going to end up with bad items from time to time but what really sets SC apart are the office and support staff they will do literally nothing to help or assist you they cut and paste portions of the terms and conditions to answer questions or to avoid answering
I have been a customer for around 10 years and don't believe I have had a single positive support experience
Watch their disposable E-cigs they all have gone past their shelf life out of date and most of them not even turning on
As another review said, "taped up boxes (of customer returns?)" I bid for what looked a wonderful item - a glossy tv unit, I thought I was on the safe side, 3 boxes all present. How stupid was I ? (and Anyone that purposes this company) Hubbie set about his tools, poor thing is useless on flatpack,, but when I got home Zero was done. 3 boxes full of useless bits to god knows what. We checked the boxes, which confirmed this, and on the monday morning contacted Simon Charles Ltd. by email. Their response?

Thank you for your email regarding the goods you purchased in our recent sale. It is unfortunate the items do not meet your expectations, but all goods are sold as seen and unless stated within the lot description it should not be assumed they are brand new, tested, complete or in working order.
Lot *** - BOXED *** TV STAND FOR TVS UP TO 65" (3 BOXES) - condition report - This product is unchecked by the staff at Simon Charles and therefore may have parts broken and/or missing. Please be aware that this product is a customer return. Additionally we have used a catalogue image to illustrate this product and therefore the actual product may differ slightly.
I refer you to section 11a of our Terms and Conditions agreed to upon registration which state:
All goods are sold with all faults and imperfections and errors of description. All goods are 'sold as seen'. Illustrations in Catalogues are for identification only. Buyers should satisfy themselves prior to sale as to the condition of each lot and should exercise and rely on their own judgement as to whether the lot accords with its descriptions. Simon Charles Auctioneers & Valuers Ltd has not tested.......
It goes On and On, I will spare you, as you must have got the jist. I, as hundreds and thousands of punters has simply been told "We have your cash, now **** off"
Just to inform I have found a great auction site they don't ask for fees all the company ask is items to be paid for by midnight no charges now back to simon charles I put it to them that I paid 19.99 they agreed to pay that back they say 5 to 7 working days for payment but if you buy from them you have to pay ASAP one rule for them one rule for us well never mind there loss you live and learn the other site I'm.on gets 200 a week your loss Mr charles
The manager at handforth is rude asf. The woman who you speak to on the phone is patronising and cocky with no help and certainly no manners. The lads seen I had no room in my car and offered to take my box and then Simon Charles give me a fly tipping charge which I assured them I will not be paying. I spent thousands on my account which they blocked. So I made another and they blocked that so I emailed to see the issue which the reply on email I got was awful and not in any shape or form professional. Avoid this s**t company
I have bought from these auctioneers about four or five times and in my opinion, it’s very hit and miss with what you get . I’ve have had counterfeit perfume and then real perfumes at decent prices. Latest acquisition was face cream which was out of date by six years ,clearly stamped on the Box 2017 use by date but they forgot to tell you this in the description on the auction, so I bought three lots of useless products, but like I say it’s very hit and miss luck of the draw i guess but on the plus side , delivery is very good and quick .
Absolutely perfect experience - I won 3 different items on the Wednesday evening auction. Paid that evening and was able to book a collection between 10-11am.
When I arrived absolutely no queue - one of the warehouse guys sorted me out right away - and I had all 3 items in 2 minutes.
When I got home opened up each item - all were perfect. I still need to build one, but I have confirmed all the pieces are there (bookshelf unit).
Each item was a customer return - yet all in perfect condition. Best bargain was a beautiful 5 panel room divider - I've seen this online for well over 300 quid - including all the fees (which are very clearly marked before you place your bid) I paid 14 pounds.
I am sure the other bad reviews are legitimate - but some balance required here, The staff were very polite and helpful, as was a gentleman from the office when I needed to ask a question the warehouse staff did not know.
Was impressed by the speed of despatch of my item.
as ar forvthecourseits ok but what really lets this company down is its office staff and management at each depot not the people in the warehouse as always find them helpful wont use again
They blocked me for criticising their huge charges on small items. At the moment I am trying to recover £200 they took from me at the same time as blocking happened. Be very careful using this site, you will pay more for items than buying them new from a merchant.
Bought a day bed from them my daughter went to pick up and a lad that worked there said I will take the box few days later got a fine for £60 so now had my account banned threw there worker and when I rang had a snotty receptionist laughing on phone saying was our fault not when there worker took it
Dont waste your money on rubbish, most of the goods are just broken or missing pieces closed up in boxes and taped up like they come direct from factory. Loads of hidden fees also that you only realise when you have purchased something. only getting one star because the system wouldnt let me post a zero
I needed to come on to express my experience. Having already bid and won on an item (Christmas tree with lights) before coming onto trustpilot I was worried about what I would be collecting. The shocking reviews had me thinking I’d be turning up to collect a green twig. I paid immediately after the auction ended on a Thursday eve. I was away over the weekend so rang on the Friday to see if my item was ready. The lady on the phone said it wasn’t ready for collection but to not worry as I wouldn’t incur a charge over the weekend. My collection invoice came through on the Wednesday and I went to collect. All the members of staff on site were friendly and helpful. It says on the website you must load your own goods but the man who went to collect my item came and put it into my car for me. I got the tree home and put it up. The tree and all 3 sets of lights are in working order. It’s clear it was a refund from a catalogue due to the packing but I am really happy with my purchase. Obviously as an auction house selling returned items you have to be careful but I’ll be looking into buying from here again. Many thanks
People know they are buying faulty none working items no doubt about that. But these guys seem to internationally omit important information on their listings. It really doesn't take much to say something is missing or its completely broke and unusable from the item you are bidding for.
To say not tested and might not work doesn't really cover an important missing part.
