If stackoverflow where public, id have puts on it, absolutely not worth your time.
Would not recommend
Nice Q&A platform
Nice Q&A platform. Most bad reviewers are reviewers who do not know how to use it. Like: First search for the same question: you are probably not the first one who asks it. Second: Is your question very obviously to be found somewhere else? And third, when you ask a question, be specific.
The most toxic place on the internet
The most toxic place on the internet, The moderators are not functioning as they should, and are being absolutely rude to its users.
stackoverflow is obsolete!
After asking a question, I was shutdown for not already knowing the answer. It is a very unhelpful site.
ChatGPT gave me the answer in seconds, and I could even ask qualify or clarify questions to its original response with the right level of detail for me. Seems to me, that with ChatGPT stackoverflow is obsolete!
Shamefully Dismissive, Rude, Bigoted
Excuse my English as I need to translate from Vietnamese.
I was told not to go to stackoverflow.com for help with my meager ColdFusion coding question because it seems to me now that my friends were correct in that stackoverflow does not want women or probably people from Vietnam, and maybe even disabled women like me. I did not believe it but now it seems quite possible.
I spent two hours writing my plea for help on their elite website after I created an account. I even showed it to my English teacher and he said it looked good. But I polished it even more. It was difficult.
"Show just one record per uniqueidentifier"
That is my title of my message.
That by itself should be enough for a reply from their so smart programmers. They will not admit it but possibly they do not want women to ask questions so they can learn and get better. They are so dismissive and try so hard to be "elite".
But stackoverflow.com said they would not publish my message and that it needed to be polished! How the hell can I polish when I need help with the part I need help on, and in another language?
This is what I told them:
"I am not surprised that you rejected my plea for help. I took at least two hours to write my message in Vietnamese then translate it. I am a major disabled Vietnamese woman and it seems your organization wished to discriminate. I can find no other reason. What I wrote is quite understandable, according to my English teacher. But your bigoted denial could be a sample of your organization to dismiss me. You won't even give it a chance. Shame on you. I will write about this on Trustpilot if you still refuse to publish my need for help and give someone a chance to understand me.
My god, if you are so perfect and only want English speaking programmers, why not tell me what you do not understand or at least make some suggestions instead of totally dismissing me? I am so disappointed in your stack overflow. It appears you discriminate against women and Vietnamese.
Excuse me if you cannot understand my disappointment. Blame Google Translate because my Vietnamese is perfect. I need to pass the word along about this website. "
I do not expect to hear anything positive from them. Look at the other disgusted reviews here. Shame on these men for refusing to help me or even make suggestions while I struggled so long to translate in English. Typical bigoted American men who are so keen to get more people but their Gestapo front end could keep foreigners needlessly away! What I wrote makes sense according to another ColdFusion help website and they helped me, and saying that stackoverflow.com is so impressed in their own minds that they have forgotten about the idea of actually helping someone who is a beginner.
I am so hurt and sorry there are websites and people unwilling to help and so dismissive.

There are SOME really helpful people in the Forum
There are some really helpful people in this forum, but the majority are obnoxious self-serving w*nkers. They are more interested in just showing how smart they are, more so than helping novices like myself. @jmcilhinney in one or the worst I have ever come across, he needs to have a reality check on what decent people are like, instead of trying to show his supposed intellect, avoid like the plague.
I have trained dozens of apprentices over my 44 years as a tradesmen, and do don't ridicule them, treat them as fools etc a valuable lesson can be learnt. These people nerd to realise that people like me, fix the things that these "Experts", (and I use that term very loosely) use daily that THEY are incapable of fixing
not even worth 1 star
Hell on earth, The platform is for developers to ask doubts, but if you ask one, They will humiliate you as much as possible. A US Registered legal platform for cyber bullying!!
This site makes me sad
Stackoverflow makes me sad. I'm a beginner in python and went there to search for something I didn't understand and the first thing I saw was someone asking the same question and having 3 downvotes and a witty, passive-aggressive response. Every programmer I've met in real life has been very nice, so why can't the same be online? Simple. The people on stackoverflow forums DON'T go outside. All they do I power trip online. I can guarantee that if some of the moderators on this site lost their privileges, they would be more upset than if their entire family died in front of them.
Garbage
Not surprised one bit to see this website has 1.8/5 stars. Very flawed model, someone had the answer I was looking for in their question but not allowed to contact them or comment on the post. I was downvoted for a typo and because that person couldn't understand my question. Really? The only way you can contact the OP is go to a completely different website and DM them instead of discussing the content right there where it exists. Second hand embarrassment for these people and business model... Speaking of DM'ing there is nothing noting this is even possible on stack overflow, not on the home page, not on users profiles. Unless you knew about chat.overflow.com there's no way to know that's possible, which I did not know at the time since it's noted nowhere. Reddit moderators must dream of working at stack overflow. FYI ''helping someone'' is completely subjective and I'm pretty sure my strategy had the answer he was looking for but you can't discuss anything so who knows. Absolutely useless website Edit: I wanted to DM the OP vs comment a question but could not find a way to message the user anywhere because the website is so horrible. Just searched again for a way to message that username, nowhere to be found.
Toxic community and moderators
While the website is a goldmine of information, don't waste time even trying to help. Your comments will be deleted for no reason, questions as well, and worst of all, you aren't allowed to do almost anything before getting stupid reputation points. I recently wanted to update an answer to a question as *it was outdated* because of a change in the library used. The edit got rejected becasue "This edit deviates from the original intent of the post. Even edits that must make drastic changes should strive to preserve the goals of the post's owner.". Ok sure, but it is because of an update, and besides, the change was minor.
And guess what? I am not allowed to comment on that answer either because I need stupid reputation points. So in the end, you can' even help or try to help anyone.
Rubbish. Don’t waste your time. Comment closed for no reason.
Rubbish.
Google asks you to post on stack to get help, as they charge huge sums…. For support.
So followed it to Stack. Posted question. Someone replies that stack is not for google questions, I reply that I am told to go to stack.
Stack then closes my question, and no further questions.
Rubbish.
Waste of time.
Pointless.
Don’t bother. Needed help, directed to Stack. Stack closes question. Painful. Frankly rude.
The best website out there for developers
The best website out there for developers. Always use it for problem solving. Unlike many other forums, the system motivates the professionals to provide a good answer.
A worst place for everyone
A worst place for everyone
To anyone considering using Stackoverflow:
Don't.
The community is full of people who flag questions as "unclear" and
can't even understand the information in the question, even though it's well-documented.
They don't tell you what's missing, they just say it's incomplete or something.
To be honest, that's pretty ignorant for a tech community.
So I got a little annoyed and said something a little harsh.
And guess what? they are very mad and report me, and moderators banned me.
So cute.
Anyway, Stackoverflow is really bad.

To Stackoverflow Staff:
I am really disappointing to you.
Moderators abuse and negative user experience
Stack Overflow has become one of the most toxic websites on the internet. While it was a valuable resource about ten years ago, the last five years have seen a significant decline. "Moderators" abuse is rampant, leading to a very negative user experience. It’s clear why the site is failing—no advanced analysis is needed to see the reasons. With the advent of technologies like GPT, thankfully, we no longer need to rely on Stack Overflow. The platform is becoming obsolete, and many will welcome its decline. A recent rating of 1.7 out of 5 reflects the poor quality of the site, and in my opinion, it deserves an even lower score. Stack Overflow serves as a cautionary example of how not to manage a service website.
Banning users that don't want to feed AI models
Many users are complaining that StackOverflow, since signing agreement with OpenAI, doesn't allow them to remove their answers or opt-out from their content being used to feed AI models. When some of the users updated their comments to a protest message, they were banned.
They (other users) have a fanatacism…
They (other users) have a fanatacism about producing a reproduceable code that means they don't even bother really reading the question. I have used enough other sites to know. Unfortunately, Google Workspace and scripting seems to be almost uniquely catered for on Stack Overflow I wish I could find somewhere else! It is the best of a non-existent bunch.
stack overflow is my go-to for…
stack overflow is my go-to for problem-solving! it's like having a round the clock mentor for tech challenges. highly recommended.
Straight up toxic behavior
Straight up toxic behavior. Avoid as much as possible. It's impossible to upvote or downvote anything anyway. Your questions get downvoted directly without even anyone reading your questions. Asking a question even never asked just makes every other users just throw insults at you because your incompetent or something in those lines... So what's the point of the website??? Is it just dead???
