Had to cancel my subscription because I no longer needed the website. They made it very hard to cancel and once I thought I cancelled they still charged me at a later date. After asking to be reimbursed they stated I didnt fully cancel my account even though I had emails back and forth on how to cancel. They are scammers and show no helpful customer service. Do not use.

good builder, terrible mail server experience - always broken

We host our website, Prime-property-thailand.com with Strikingly. The web builder is great and we are invested for the long term (too late to move and stuck). The mail server is an absolute joke, it's like working in a wartime blackout; 1 in 3 mails get out if you're lucky. Thunderbird connects reliably but doesn't copy to sent items due to server timeouts on every send. EM Client, our preferred client, times out on message sends around 66% of the time making it unusable. The webmail provision is shocking and takes you back to 2000 dial-up as an experience; takes 60 seconds to open a text-only email, takes 2 mins to reply to a mail with a small attachment, opening a 6mb attach takes about 7-8 minutes. There is something really wrong going on with this company - like they have outsourced the mail service and it's failed and they can't fix. Constant chats to support (helpful and friendly, fast) but the issue is never resolved, always told it's my internet connection, cache or choice of mail client; tried it on 7 different machines, in 6 countries, 5 browsers, 4 clients and three domestic ISPs so far and no combination works. Meanwhile, my fast home internet runs 4K shows perfectly, and connects to Outlook and other clients perfectly and instantly on other servers, so it's a you problem. This experience has been catastrophic in terms of us offering a quick response to clients; we are stuck with Thunderbird currently and their server as it's the least worst option and difficult to move away from the 8 maiboxes we pre-purchased. Fortunately most of our business is done on calls, whatsapp and DMs so we can avoid using the strikingly server wherever possible, as it's a cancerous mess on what would otherwise be a great hosting proposition.

One of the founders of Strikingly is a man named Teng Bao. I was Mr. Bao's English teacher in 2003. The school was Mark Twain I.S. 239 and it was my first full-time teaching job. I had the students write journals every week to develop their writing skills. To verify that they were not writing nonsense I had to check every single page and then to my horror Mr. Bao had an entry calling me that slur referring to my black heritage multiple times and that I had no right to be teaching English at this school because I could not speak English properly. I have never forgotten this moment and it is unfair that this man lives a good life while I am still in poverty.

Strikingly gets worse and worse

Strikingly gets worse and worse. They are just another "get a credit card and charge it repeatedly" company. Customer service is very bad too. Not once ever has a question been answered, but they will spend days explaining why they cannot help you. And, at the end of it all, websites built with Strikingly do not look good. They're the geocities sites of today. Garbage company.

Fake testimonials, no service, and bullying behaviour – stay away

I was referred to Harrington Book Marketing by a connection on my public Facebook page. She vouched for them, but after I signed on and started raising concerns, she completely disappeared — no replies, no explanation. Looking back, it all feels like part of a larger scam.

I paid upfront for a promised book marketing campaign. What I received was one poor-quality video that had nothing to do with my branding, voice, or direction. After that, I was completely ghosted. No follow-up, no campaign, nothing that was promised.

When I contacted their financial institution to report the issue and try to get my money back, the team at Harrington turned aggressive. They began bullying me, sending threatening messages — instead of acting professionally and trying to resolve the matter.

To make things worse, I later discovered they had published a fake testimonial using my name and photo on their website without my knowledge or consent. I never gave them a testimonial, and I never approved the use of my image.

This is not just bad service. It’s deceptive, manipulative, and possibly fraudulent. Authors, especially first-timers, need to be extremely cautious. Do not fall for their flashy website and fake reviews — they are not who they claim to be.

I got contacted (unsolicited) by Allen. I din't know the company, so I checked it out here on Trustpilot. And I told him, that chances are pretty low for me to do business with a company rated "bad". He started downplaying it and only then started telling me, how awesome they are and that I'm basically missing the chance of my life. I was wondering why he was writing me again after I said no. So this time I said clearly "NO" again. Only to receive more emails from that advice resistent gentleman. No clue what he is thinking. Of course I marked the email spam. I guess he ain't doing his company a favour with this methodology. Looking forward to reading his standard reply here, how much he regrets and I misunderstood and I should try their services, bla bla bla bla... LOL

Incompetent support and devs

I was messaging the support for a few weeks and they kept telling me it's something that I'm doing wrong. I had an issue with the site not displaying as secure on iOS and Mac devices. I provided them with clear instructions of what's going on their side and how to fix it but they've being in denial and kept blaming it on me. Absolutely hell experience. would 100% not recommend.

Dispute regarding to strikingly Inc.

I initially chose the Basic Plan with a one-month trial for $9 on May 21, 2024, which included a 14-day free trial. However, after the trial period ended, on June 4, 2024, Strikingly upgraded my plan to the Pro Plan without my consent or any prior notification, charging me $20 per month. I never received a single email notification regarding this upgrade.

As a result, I was charged for 9 months without my knowledge, despite not using the website editor at all during this period. When I contacted Strikingly for a refund, they refused, insisting that they had informed me about the upgrade. This is completely unacceptable.

I never received any email notification about the plan upgrade. When a trial period ends, the account should be frozen until the user confirms their willingness to continue payments. Instead, Strikingly continued to charge me secretly without my authorization.

During these 9 months, I did not receive a single invoice or payment notification email. I only discovered these charges after reviewing my credit card statement. When I requested a full refund, Strikingly denied my request.

I demand an immediate refund for the 9 months of unauthorized charges.

Buyer Beware! Strikingly is after your bank info and data!

I did not want to renew my quite expensive subscription, so nearly two months before renewal date, I canceled. They then immediately shut everything down with nearly two months left on my subscription. They are refusing to reinstate my website or reimburse me for the remainder of the subscription.

So, before you give this Chinese company your payment info and other data, please read some reviews. I wish I did.

It didn’t work very well for me.

Difficult to setup. It didn’t work very well for me so I decided to cancel. But once they had my credit card, they keep on charging me. I’ve tried to cancel but they continue to charge me. Now I have to protest through my credit card company. I’ll probably have to cancel my credit card now. Use a different company.

A constant bombardment of various types of phising and scam emails of various guises, yet all come from this shower after I have done some research with my domain provider, now I have them blacklisted, would advise everyone to do the same, and most certainly NO NOT entertain them or consider using them

Deceptive Advertising

I did a lot of homework to find Strikingly.com. I contacted them several times when deciding who to go with. Their chat line help was OUTSTANDING! They were super nice and helpful, referred me to directly to the links in their help section when I had questions, and emailed me a copy of the chat! Wonderful!

They were offering a FREE simple website with purchase, to be delivered in 48 to 72 hours. I decided to sign up because they also offered a 2 week, no obligation trial period too. The first red flag was that the FREE simple website was nowhere to be found. I queried the salesperson several times about it, but she deftly side stepped it. Okay, so $59 is not a big deal for a website. The second red flag was when my Credit Card company turned down the charge due to possible fraud. Oh well, they’ve done that before, so I approved it.

I gave the website design department clear instructions of what I wanted, with supporting material included, a note to contact me if they had any questions, and asked for confirmation that I got one revision. A week later, after no communication except apologies for being late, they delivered my website. It wasn’t what I asked for. This was the third red flag. But I resubmitted it, and a week later it was delivered with same experience. This was the day my free trial ended. Still, I had the feeling that this was a company that could be worked with, so I tried to purchase a 3 year plan from them, however my CC company turned them down again for possible fraud.

This time I listened, so I canceled the order, however I was told they couldn’t refund the $59 charge for the simple website. I stewed about this for a couple of days, and then decided to contest the charge, since they used deceptive advertising. My CC company did an investigation, and refunded my money. Sorry, but I can’t recommend them.

I couldn't not write this review!

I have never written a negative review, but didn't feel like I could let this one pass.

I started my company in 2017, I had my first website and domain hosted with strikingly. I have since moved onto other platforms for my website but had maintained the domains with strikingly.

I had (at some time in the past) signed onto a 5 year subscription for my website. I did forget to cancel this when I moved provider. I had maintained annual payments to strikingly for the 2 domains that I they held for me. Long story short, I was charged $528USD recently by strikingly. When I spoke to a Happiness Officer - I was told that this was the renewal for my website subscription. I hadn't used my strikingly website for over 4 years at this point but as it was my oversight for not cancelling the subscription, they wouldn't provide a refund - my only option was to hold the amount in credit.

I was upset but figured I could simply use the huge amount of "credit" for paying for my domain annual renewals.

Fast forward one week and I'm having connectivity issues with my domains in my new website - even after they assured me that cancelling my website subscription wouldn't effect my new website or domain functionality. I got in touch with a Happiness Officer and as we were working through this, I checked that I would be able to use my "credit" towards the domain renewals each year.

The Happiness Officer was perplexed, there wasn't any credit recorded on my account. I asked them to check the previous support conversation. Once that had happened, they let me know that as I hadn't "formally asked for the amount to be held in credit - it hadn't been applied to my account". No one had mentioned that I needed to formally voice this request and I'm not sure what they thought happened to that amount as by then I had formally cancelled my website subscription.

I was also informed, that no, the credit couldn't be used towards the domain fee - so basically, unless I wanted to build another website with Strikingly, the $528USD can't be used.

By this point I was feeling pretty frustrated. I requested to be able to escalate my complaint but the Happiness Officer told me this isn't possible - only they can pass on feedback.

I then made the decision to remove both of my domains from being held by Strikingly as I didn't want anything else to do with the company.

This process ended up taking 2 days and being incredibly stressful, (complete loss of email and website functionality) thanks to the incomplete communication of the Happiness Officer.

I would think very carefully about doing business with Strikingly - and if you do "subscribe" to anything - make very sure you also cancel it when you leave!
