Run away

Run, run away, do not look back. No flexibility at all. Building a website in 2024 with strikingly will be hell experience. Anything YOU want is done via submitting a request to the "Engineering" departments.

A few things you might need that they do not have out of the box:

- Setting a background on you page (!!! right???)
- Custom CSS
- There is no Featured image in Blog posts !!!! Thumbnail comes from background image.

That list can go on forever...

The CEO, David Haisha Chen, is Chinese living in the United States. He deserves to bump into a light poll, by accident of course, for ripping so many people off.

Change in Refund Policy Not Clear

I have been a loyal customer since 2015, and even knew the founders. Basically I had not used my custom email, and it just renewed today (but I didn't receive an email about it) I asked for a refund. It was only $25 so I don't care, but I asked Rhenan the happiness officer, to show me in the Terms of Usage that said there was not refunds. He was not able to to do, but just kept saying no to me. Having a non-refund policy is fine, but when a customer asks for specifics, I think they should be trained well enough to provide this information.

Horrible refund policy, surprise charge

Signed up a long time ago to test a few things, but didn't realise got an active annual plan. No emails or any reminders sent and they charged me $192 for the annual plan renewal. Asking for a refund, and told me they charged a $20 "usage fee" don't know what that is and a $1 service fee. Petty.

Still waiting for my money back, let's see if they actually return the money or a thief.

Basically stole $20 and gave no refund upon cancellation

I had no issue with the service, but needed to cancel the monthly plan. I paid $20 on 11 April and requested to cancel on 13 April, expecting the plan to end on 11 May, as I had just paid for the month of April. However, the support person told me that the plan would cancel immediately, I would lose all features and no refund would be given. That is not industry standard, I am surprised if that is legal and this is the reason why I cannot in good faith leave them a good review. The service was what I paid for, but the exit was disgraceful.

In response to the 5-star review by Jose, I agree that the service itself was fine, and I have paid them $740 over 3 years of service. I wrote them to say that it is a shame that they would let a customer leave on such a sour note and I hope their management makes a policy change.

Unethical Company

I closed my company nearly a year ago and forgot to close down my website. I was told I received an email about its renewal, but I never got it. I then went to cancel my plan hoping to get at least a partial refund since I'm paying for another year without using the service. I was informed that they don't give any refunds. Feels like a punch in the stomach. I feel like the company is unethical and has very poor customer service. Seems more like a scam to get peoples money without providing service. I've owned many businesses in my life and have never not given a refund or at minimum a partial refund when it was the ethical and right thing to do. Businesses and Policies that undermine basic ethics are shady and criminal in my opinion.

They scammed me with their plans, and I have lost over USD 700 due to them. It's a horrible, bad scamming company. Their customer support sucks when I contacted them too.

HORRIBLE SUPPORT

My account on strikingly was randomly disabled one day. Then, when I tried to log in, I couldn't. My websites were offline and I starting to get worried. I contacted support and they told me that it was because my account was in violation of the Terms of Service. I asked if they knew why and I thought this might be an error and I'm looking to clarify this ban. They informed me that this was not an error and I cannot get back my account. They mentioned that they cannot disclose any information on my account being banned. I lost 8 domains that had over 130 unique visitors daily. I have no idea why my account was banned because at the time I was not using strikingly, I had only used it a couple days earlier to check my form responses. They told me I could create a new account and continue building. I find that kind of dumb because if someone was breaking their TOS they could just create a new account. After addressing my concerns, they informed me that they were sorry about the inconvenience and proceeded to ban me from the chat. This support was horrible, the worst I've ever gotten, I would give it 0 stars if I could, I'm never coming back. Do not use strikingly, please. There are much better options to build your website.

AVOID —been with Strikingly as a business owner for over 10 years with a pro account. I noticed i was not getting ANY email notifications after a month in December 2023. I spent hours trying to find out why by editing the archaic website to no avail. Got on Chat to get help. They supposedly sent it to a developer there and PROMISED to get back within 48 hours to let me know something and hopefully fix it. After 4 days I sent them 3 emails to their “Happiness Officers” also to no avail —they’ve ghosted me. Now I’m losing productivity AND customers cannot email me. So, after all these years and $$$ i’m treated pretty badly. I have never been treated with such cavalier disregard —pretty disappointed. AVOID.

Poor business model.

The platform itself is easy to use, however, they set up their system so that when you add additional sites, it will automatically bill you for them without having to talk to customer service. That is how it should be. BUT, when you delete sites on your account, it doesn't subtract them from your billing. To do that, you have to contact their "Happiness Officers" (aka customer service) for them to adjust your billing. I removed and deleted 5 websites in November (23), leaving me with 2 remaining. In Dec I saw they still billed me for the others, so I contacted them requesting a credit and they refused, even though they could see that I deleted those sites in November. On top of that, they said would cancel the billing for the January invoice but they suggested that I "maximize what I have paid for through January 28th, 2024." These boneheads think I am going to build a website or multiple websites for a 30 day period. They sell websites, yet they don't even understand the work/effort it takes to build a decent site AND THEN how much work it takes to promote it and drive traffic. I am looking for a new website partner who values their customers.

Dangerously incompetent

Avoid. Almost zero customer support. Business and team from China, they do not care and have zero repurcussions. Also, dangerous practices for SEO and will randomly attach links to their product when people share your site even on Pro. Nothing is truly white-label.

Domaine, perdu invisible depuis 10 jours, i**** me confirme que mon domaine est bien chez eux.
Eux, ne le trouve pas 😅 Facturation 25.95 € pour l'invisibilité.
Je persiste achète une domaine de mail...
Il ne fonctionne pas non plus ! surtout que attention il garde en mémoire votre carte et ne vous demande pas de valider l'achat ... Facturation 25 €
Vous souhaitez vous faire rembourser ? IMPOSSIBLE ! Eux le savent ils sont bien trop malins pour être honnête.
Bref Fuiez bien vite et bien loin !

je ne voulais pas renouveler, il faut exprimer par la chat la demande, ce que j'ai fait mais apparement il fallait ensuite aller plus loin pour annuler ...résultat je suis reconduit pour 192$ et ne veulent pas me rembourser 😞

Best customer support EVER

Honestly don't know what all of these bad reviews are about. I think they are just people who don't pay attention when they purchase something. Must be the ones who return 7/10 items they buy. Strikingly is lighter, faster and easier to use than Wix. Their templates are varied and extremely beautiful and their support is by FAR the best I have ever experienced. They don't differentiate between free and paying users and will help everybody with ANYTHING, no matter how basic the request. They will literally help you build your entire website step-by-step if you ask them in chat

How can there be so many bad reviews

I did not agree with paying for a service with their obtrusive logo/marketing on the website. To remove the logo, the website service said it would require more payment. However, this should be made transparent as indicated in consumer advertising laws.
Suggestion: Write to their VC firms about improving services and value
