Happy customer for many years
I have a Surfroam SIM for years now and a eSIM for about two years. The ability to use mobile data while traveling and at a low price is great. The customer service is also very good. Fast response times and always very friendly. Great quality, excellent service and low cost. Highly recommended!

Surfroam is a scam
Surfroam is a scam, I paid for an esim and never received it. Ive used other esim providers like airalo and have been sent esims instantly. They took my money and I never received a sim. Avoid at all costs. I tried contacting the company but there emails bounce back and the only phone number I found was based in latvia. Please dont fall for this scam. I got locked out of "mysurfroam" account as I was never provided a password and upon trying to reset it the emails never appeared. DO NOT TRUST SURFROAM!

I recharged my Surfroam eSIM once
I recharged my Surfroam eSIM once and used it for months while travelling across South America. The per MB rate is super reasonable, and I never had to worry about running out of data unexpectedly. Even in remote locations, I was still connected. Customer support is fast and helpful whenever I have questions.

This has been a useful backup for internet data, both at my home town as well as when I travel. I originally purchased this eSIM for travelling thoughout Europe and I am happy with the performance as I travelled from Italy upto even Norway. Later, I also used it as a dependable backup when I returned to my home town. Glad that I can also pay only by the MB for data usage.

Hassle free data access even when I am…
Hassle free data access even when I am on backpacking trips. I have been trekking around South East Asia for over 4 months now and this eSIM has been very helpful for me, as I do not have to search for a local SIM. The multi-network configuration is good enough, as it changed providers smoothly when I was travelling across borders or moving into remote areas. Even while streaming and uploading images, the speed was sufficient. Credit balance has no expiry and top ups are simple. The built-in data encryption is an important feature, along with VPN routing. I recommend this eSIM to anyone who travels extensively.

This eSIM worked even in remote areas when I was recently in Brazil. I am also glad that inter-network coverage automatically switched. I was able to be online without any issues, updating maps and getting my weather updates. Pay-as-you-go charges are reasonable.

An ideal service for a global business…
An ideal service for a global business traveler like me. When I travel to different countries, I need proper internet connectivity and this eSIM has never disappointed me. It has been reliable in Singapore, Germany and South Africa alike. It saves the time and hassle of searching for a local SIM card when I reach any country. The credit never expires and this is a major plus. The internet speed is good for emails, video calls and light internet browsing. I am also happy that I get fast customer service. They eat up your credit...and no support!!!
I had a total of 4 SIMs with them... at first the network services were great. Then I travelled and their purposes would have been for me to use them abroad. They never worked. The support when contacted assisted but could not resolve the connection issues. They sent some configuration parameters that did not apply. Now I tried to check my credit on the multiple cards the least I had was 18€ otherwise over 30 on all of them to my surprise all SIM have no credit. So they ripped me off my credit. These guys used to be reliable the credit could sit on your account for as long as you would not use them but now it seems that's no longer the case.
I can't no longer recommend surfroam to anybody!!!

We’re really sorry to read this and we understand why you’re upset. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have.
A couple of important clarifications:
• We don’t “eat” credit. If credit is shown as €0, it’s usually due to (1) balance validity/renewal rules, (2) the SIM being outdated/discontinued, or (3) usage being deducted by data sessions (sometimes in background) that can be verified in logs.
• For most Surfroam plans, the balance stays active as long as it’s renewed with a top-up within the required period. If there was no top-up for a long time, the balance can become inactive/expired.
On the connectivity side: if a SIM works at home but not abroad, the most common causes are roaming settings/APN/network selection, or traveling to a country where that specific SIM profile is not supported anymore (older SIM generations can be affected).
Please contact us in live chat on surfroam.com and send:
1. the ICCID (the long number on each SIM) for all 4 SIMs
2. the email/order ID used for top-ups
3. the countries + dates where it failed
We’ll check the exact status of each SIM, confirm validity/expiry, review usage logs, and if anything is wrong on our side we’ll fix it or compensate appropriately (including moving the remaining balance to an active SIM/eSIM when possible).
We’d like the chance to make this right.

Habe die Karte für Kirgisistan gekauft, dort funktionierte sie jedoch kaum. Dann neues Guthaben für Peru aufgeladen (jedes Jahr muss einmal eine Aufladung erfolgen, sonst verfällt Restguthaben). In Peru funktionierte die Karte. Allerdings wird unverbrauchtes Restguthaben nach Ablauf des Vertragsjahres nicht erstattet.

Damit es aktiv bleibt, ist eine jährliche Aufladung erforderlich.
Wichtig: Wenn eine Verbindung in einem Land nicht wie erwartet funktioniert, kann unser Support oft mit Netz-/Profilwechsel, APN/Netz-Auswahl und Geräteeinstellungen helfen und falls es ein echtes Abdeckungsproblem war, prüfen wir das gern im Detail.

Gone downhill
Pre-covid prices were good EUR 18.50 for a SIM and EUR 15 worth of PAYG data - trip to South Africa had excellent coverage and worked well.
Post-covid price has doubled and was not good value for money as local SIMs were cheaper/better (eg charge of 7c/MB in UAE). Had lots of problems connecting and when it did it often was only 3G.
Basically a shame but I won't use the Surfroam again as the price/service is pretty poor.

My phone did not like the esim instructions were great but my phone never gave an APN to write global data … I may have done it all wrong had to remove esim as phone would not work with it on …. Go for physical local sims

That said, a 1-star “service” rating isn’t really fair when the main issue was that the eSIM wasn’t configured correctly on the device (APN missing / not entered) and it looks like it may have been removed before we could finish troubleshooting with you.
Our instructions are a starting point, but some phones require manual APN entry or a slightly different path depending on model/OS version.

Did not work at first. More expensive than if I bought a card at the airport. In one day I run out of internet, so I ended up buying the airport card that was cheaper and limitless. Never buying again.

A couple of things to clarify:
• If it didn’t work at first, that’s usually a setup/network selection issue (roaming, APN, or choosing the right operator).
Our support can normally fix this quickly, but you shouldn’t have to struggle.
• Surfroam is pay-as-you-go, so if your phone used a lot of data in one day (app updates, cloud backups, hotspot, video), the balance can run out faster than expected.
Airport SIMs sometimes offer “unlimited” plans, but they often come with fair-use limits / speed throttling after a certain amount of data.
If you message us in live chat on surfroam.com with your order email + country + date, we can check your usage logs, confirm what happened, and see if we can offer a fair resolution.

The SIM doesn't work much and it expires after 1 year. If you want to renew it, you need to recharge minimum 25 euros (Unbelivable). AVOID

Sorry you had a bad experience, but a couple of points need clarification:
• Surfroam uses a prepaid balance with a 12-month validity window (renewed by top-up).
It’s not a “use for life without any renewal” type of product.
• The minimum top-up depends on the specific Surfroam product/account, and if you were shown €25, that’s the minimum available for that plan at checkout, it’s not meant to “take” money, it’s simply the smallest renewal option we offered for that product.
If your SIM “doesn’t work much,” that’s something we can actually fix in many cases (network selection, roaming/APN, or using the correct profile for the country).
