Got a Swisscare student insurance in Belgium. Denied me medication saying medications that they label psychiatric are not included. This was literally prescription medication issued by doctors. Big waste of money paying over 200 euros and being denied 20 euros worth of medicines. Incredibly petty. Should have taken a cheaper insurance and registered for a mutuality instead.

I purchased a travel insurance policy from this company believing it would provide support in case of an emergency. When my suitcase was stolen from a locked rental car, I followed every required step: I filed an official police report, contacted all relevant parties, and provided the insurer with every document and piece of evidence I had.
Despite this, the claims process became deeply frustrating. Instead of evaluating the incident based on the official documentation and the facts I provided, the insurer repeatedly introduced imagined scenarios to justify refusing my claim — scenarios for which there is no evidence whatsoever.
Instead of assessing what did happen, they focused on what might hypothetically have happened, even though none of these imagined possibilities are supported by facts.
I am writing this review to warn others.
I purchased a policy expecting support, but instead I was met with barriers, excuses, and ever-changing demands that made it feel like the company’s priority was simply to avoid paying valid claims.
I would not purchase a policy from them again, and I strongly encourage others to be extremely cautious and to think carefully before relying on this company for protection.

Original review: Although I have purchased travel insurance from them many times, I have never made a claim. On my current trip I accidentally broke my glasses. Not an emergency so I contacted them through the form on the website to ask if this would be covered (I have one of the higher tiers of cover). I got an autoreply that it would take them TEN DAYS(!) to respond to my email. More than 10 days have since passed and I've had no reply. Further, their helpline is only open a few hours a day, only on weekdays and even then is impossible to reach. I have come to the conclusion that the company is a scam. Positive reviews are most likely fake, if you buy this insurance you better pray you never need to use it.
Update: The company reached out to me and apologised for the delay. The lady said it often takes the claims department upto 3 weeks to respond to questions however she assured me that in a medical emergency or the customer needs hospitlaization they would react immediately.
I appreciate that they contacted me although it did take a couple of angry emails and my original 1 star rating here for that to happen. I am raising them now to 3 stars. I cannot give them more because 3 weeks is a crazy length of time to respond to a query - most trips are shorter than that! And secondly I've never made an actual claim so I can't report on how that is handled in real life. Also she told me their General Insurance Terms exclude things like medical prosthetics such as a false limb, hearing aids, etc. Glasses may not be critical but imagine you are someone who relies on a prosthetic leg which is damaged while you are travelling in a foreign country and you find out your travel insurance doesn't cover you?
