ZERO STARS
If TextPlus can 1.)suspend my service, 2.)continue charging my card without providing me service, & 3.)reroute a bank blocked merchant transaction by manipulating the descriptor- then TextPlus is 4.)fraudulently misrepresenting their services to their customers as well as 5)diffusing all liability to Apple & Google by 6) claiming zero control over TextPlus subscriptions.
TextPlus is violating CashApp merchant rules, Google Play billing policies, Apple App Store billing policies, Visa/Mastercard billing policies, and Consumer Protection policies, & Federal Trade Commission.
ZERO STARS
When I first signed up with textPlus, the upsides significantly outweighed the downsides. Free texting to US numbers, including MMS. I put a few dollars of credit on my account and earned another few from watching lousy ads. It was enough credit for the last 7 years.
The service declined. The mandatory ads, for which you don't get paid, got longer and longer, and I many times had to close and reload the app to use it.
Six months ago in China, to make it work, I had to use a VPN. Then i had to use a VPN everywhere. Oh, guess what? Using a VPN is against their terms of service I found out later. They terminated me in a generic message telling me how they were trying to keep their sacred service free of spam. That is rich! I constantly received unsolicited messages and calls from these clowns.
To be fair, a ton of these virtual telco operators are terrible. The textPlus numbers actually work for calls and messages but NOT for receiving one time codes. Very spotty there.
I wasn't expecting the sky from textPlus. For how much I used it, textPlus worked until it didn't.
If you need a service you can trust and rely on, don't sign up.
I purchased a premium number from TextPlus, but I never received it. I contacted Enhanced Customer Service, but they never responded. Frustrated, I ended up canceling the subscription and lost $0.50 in the process.
If this is how they handle paid services, I can’t imagine relying on them for anything important. Avoid if you expect reliable service or customer support!
Have used them for years and liked their service. But something happened to them a few months ago. Service stopped being reliable. Then stopped working altogether. I wrote to customer service to ask for help. They eventually responded by suspending my account "for violating their terms of service" and blocking me on their App, effectively stealing all the credit on my calling account. Since then I've responded to their email at least a half-dozen times asking for any clarification. Never got a single response. I don't know what happened to them, but I'd stay away now. Sad, because they were a useful service.
Had a terrible experience. I bought some credits however the calls could not be made so I contacted the support team and I never got a reply. Please give me back my money!
My TextPlus was suspended I don’t know what happened
I began using Text Plus YEARS ago when I was given an iPhone 6S plus and had a landline …a real, wired landline that never “went down” or dropped a call. You know, the good old days.
Anyway, I needed some kind of portable phone that I could use at coffee shops and anywhere with wi-fi. I’ve never needed immediate contact except for taxis, so the Text Plus app was fine.
Initially, the company gave you two cents to play/watch a 20->30 second commercial. Then it went to four cents. So whenever I was bored or watching TV, I’d play ads as often as they were available and did this for years.
I accumulated a large amount of what was registered as actual money (2->4 cents at a time) with which you could make phone calls or “swap” for certain features like keeping your number the same (if/whenever you didn’t use the app much). You could also buy (or swap) money for extra features like no ads and other interfering nuisances that became more invasive over time (as the app became more popular).
Over the years, I finally got a phone with a SIM card and a plan so didn’t need the Text plus app except for the odd long distance call. But I’d earned a lot of time that was registered in dollars on the app. To keep my number the same, I’d swap some of my “funds” so as to be able to keep and use the same phone number without worrying about accessing the app (and also get rid of annoying non-paying ads when using it).
So it was handy (but hardly essential). I’d accumulated quite a bit of phone credit, registered in dollars, so used the money as needed and traded/swapped $ for credits towards use and convenient functionality when needed.
THEN, OUT IF NOWHERE with no notice whatsoever, TEXT PLUS decides to convert my long-time accumulated “dollars” into credits which can only be used to make calls. No more keeping your number unless you pay more money from your actual bank account! Not the money you’d earned and been using within the app, but additional money you’d have to transfer in to get rid of ads or keep your phone number the same.
AFAIK this just happened in the last month or two and there’s no way to regain the money earned (ow turned into “credits”to use as one was told). No more using what you’d earned in the way it has been from the time TEXT PLUS went into business.
I was always somewhat suspicious that it might be primarily a “contact’s data” harvesting algorithm, disguised as a cheap phone call & text app (without even the ubiquitous presence online of something like “What’s app” which has also come under way more scrutiny of late).
I suppose what I’ve learned from this sleazy company (that abuses the customers who helped build and maintain it) is how the government can one day soon turn any funds in your bank account into “credits” that can only be used for what the government determines they can be traded for.
This covert communist type manipulation of American companies (Canada/US) using CCP-like tactics of repossessing and re-purposing what a person has earned is much farther along in its development than most are aware. I can hear people screaming I’m a “conspiracy theorizing nut-job” as they’re marched merrily into the new world order where they line up to be stamped with the proverbial number of the beast.
TEXT PLUS is a dishonest data harvesting SCAM disguised as a texting/phone app.
Crapped out when I selected a number and state.
EVERY TIME AFTER LOGGIN IN, WHEN WE TRY TO SELECT THE NUMBER AS TO PROCEED FURTHER, IT KEEPS SAYING "OOPS, SOMETHING WENT WRONG".
