Awful experience with Travel Trek – still waiting for them to take responsibility

I booked a family package holiday through Travel Trek to the Belpoint Beach Hotel in Beldibi, Turkey. The holiday cost £1,650, and what followed was one of the worst holiday experiences my family has ever had.

The hotel was completely unacceptable. We experienced serious hygiene, maintenance and safety concerns, including suspected bedbug bites affecting my children, mould, poor cleanliness, rats/rodents, problems with hot water and facilities, poor food and other safety concerns. I have photographs and videos documenting many of these issues.

I repeatedly contacted Travel Trek while we were still abroad and asked for help. I also provided videos of two different pharmacists who assessed the children’s skin reactions and provided treatment. I explained why I was struggling to obtain a formal medical consultation in Turkey — I had four children with me, including a baby, and did not have the money or practical ability to keep paying for taxis, consultations and other unexpected costs.

Despite this, I am now being told that I apparently didn’t respond regarding medical evidence. That is simply not an accurate reflection of what happened. I have retained the emails, videos and correspondence which demonstrate that I did respond.

Things eventually became even more serious when, following an incident at the hotel, we were told to leave the accommodation immediately. I had four children with me and had to find alternative accommodation and arrange transport at very short notice.

Travel Trek are now referring to the fact that the transfer change was requested with less than 48 hours’ notice. What they fail to acknowledge is that I didn’t choose to change the transfer — circumstances at the hotel meant we were forced to leave. I couldn’t possibly give 48 hours’ notice of something I had no control over.

I have since incurred additional costs for replacement accommodation, transfers, food, drinks, pharmacy treatment and other necessities. I have provided Travel Trek with details of these losses.

Since returning home, we have obtained medical advice and I am now obtaining the formal medical documentation they requested. I am also gathering further evidence, including independent reviews from other guests who stayed at the hotel around the same time and reported similar problems.

To Travel Trek’s credit, they have acknowledged my complaint and supplementary evidence, but I am extremely unhappy with the way some of the circumstances have been represented in their correspondence so far.

I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking Travel Trek to properly investigate what happened, consider the evidence I have supplied and take responsibility for the package holiday they sold my family.

At this stage, I would not recommend Travel Trek based on my experience of how this holiday and the subsequent complaint have been handled.

I booked a holiday with them they put the price up than took payment within an hour they told me hotel isn't available sent me replacements and they were all 3* instead of 4* that I paid for they were also double rooms as opposed to suites than they was rude didnt communicate very good and I was just left fuming this was literally yesterday I now have to wait 5-7 days for refund when the holiday was set to take off for the 15th of October I will never use them again absolutely terrible service ok they've permitted my refund but rightfully so they were so quick to get me to give a review and initially I bigged them up and was really happy but that was until they tried to punk me like im some punk. No chance. The worker I dealt with was called nick. I would not recommend.

Nick was such a good help when I was booking my holiday. Made things feel straight forward and was patient while I struggled to make decisions. Would definitely recommend speaking with him if using traveltrek

I worked with someone called Roger to book a trip, it was quiet frustrating as they constantly pressure you to do things in the moment which didn’t allow me enough time to research the hotel which led to me staying somewhere completely out of the city centre that I wanted, I expressed I was at work and was unable to have this done in that moment but the constant pressure then led to a booking that I no longer want, I was told I’d have a three minute phone call which led to being 25 mins. Anyways if you’re booking with this company or Roger, I reccommend doing this on a weekend as everything moves very quickly.

Great customer service

Gregor was extremely helpful in finding me exactly what I wanted with an upgraded room and beach location. He was patient throughout and beat any other quotes i found. The whole process was speedy. Veey happy with this company.

Initially, I spoke with edmund he was very patient and helpfull in booking my holiday to tunisia. Everytime i had a query the team was helpfull calls were always answered over all a very good service.
Last of all Gregor was very kind enough to check us in with s friendly service.

First time booking with Traveltrek and can't fault it. Karan who was our contact was absolutely brilliant. He took time to look around and get us the best option for our dates and stay in Lanzarote. I would highly recommend not just TravelTrek but also Karan who provided excellent customer service. I for one will definitely return when booking future holidays.

DO NOT USE
Booked our holiday through one of their agents, booking was fine.
We were promised a 4 star hotel as seen from pictures and reviews. I can promise you this now, i wouldn't even give the hotel a 0.5 stars.
The hotel was rotten and un safe - one little girl ended up drowning and nearly dying.
First night we ended up booking another hotel as it was not fit to stay there.
Contacted the travel agency who said i needed to write an email.
Wrote multiple times to the hotel / booking agency and 2 months later still have no received any email back.
THIS COMPANY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY, THEY DO NOT HELP OR SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT WHILST ON HOLIDAY.
DO NOT USE!!!!

Made everything go with ease for me will definitely use again

The operator gregor, was excellent and a wealth of useful knowledge. Explained everything required and easy to understand.. well done.

"Roger" went above and beyond with an awkward client... me.... patience of a saint. will let you know if his recommendation lives up to its promise!
