Smooth & Seamless

We were heart-broken when we had to cancel our anniversary trip that we were looking forward to for years - due to an injury that prevented me from walking without excruciating pain at every step. I was afraid I may have a fight - because well, you know insurance companies! But, TripMate was a smooth and seamless process. We received our full refund promptly and now can start to plan to reschedule in the future. The customer representative I worked with was very empathetic as I was crying while canceling. Thank you for not piling on more trauma on a devastating and disappointing experience. Much appreciated.

Experienced Insurance-Claim Customer

I have never delt/claimed with any insurance company that is bursting to write you a check. Tripmate had us do the typical "due-diligences" and they expedited our reimbursement payments as well as we could have expected. We will / have used them again...

Delayed and Disappointed: A Frustrating Experience with Tripmate Insurance

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience using Tripmate for insurance related to my parents' trip booked through Cheapoair. The customer service has been less than helpful; on multiple occasions, I encountered representatives who could provide no information, and I was unable to escalate my concerns to a supervisor.

Unfortunately, my father was hospitalized, necessitating the cancellation of their trip. I submitted a re-assignment of benefits so I could manage the claim on their behalf, along with the necessary receipt of payment. After a lengthy wait of three months, a check was finally issued. However, to my dismay, it was made out to my parents instead of me, despite the re-assignment clearly indicating otherwise.

In May, I was informed that a stop payment had been issued to correct this error and that a new check would be re-issued. Yet, here we are two months later, and I still have not received the updated check or any communication regarding the status of this issue, despite it being a clear mistake on their part.

This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating, and I cannot recommend Tripmate for insurance coverage. It is essential for a company to provide effective support and timely resolutions, and sadly, Tripmate has fallen short.

Useless insurance company

Useless insurance company. Don't waste your money on buying the insurance for flights. They will not cover you. They will deny your claim. Bought the insurance having faith that they would either reimburse or give me a flight credit. Nope. Wasted more money on buying their insurance which is a scam. What's the point of having insurance when it does nothing for u. There's a reason for their negative reviews and low ratings. They should get out of the business. Fraudsters and scam...update: they responded to this review but still no update or any contact towards me. They only responded to save face but still nothing from them

simple to buy but extremely hard to claim

It was simple to buy the insurance, but it is impossible to make any claim because of the endless requests for documentation and the speed of the response... avoid

Worst customer service ever!

I had to cancel a trip planned for February because of health issues. They approved my claim in May, It is now July and I have yet to receive my money back. I have called several times trying to get some clarity to no avail. They mailed my check to my apartment building but did not put an apartment number on it. When I called to tell them, they dismissed it. I'm sure the mailman will know you and take it to your apartment, the agent said. Customer service is a joke, Nobody knows what's happening and plenty of excuses. I asked if they could deposit the money directly in my bank account and they said they were not prepared to do that. What kind of company is this they can't do direct deposit? I'm getting ready to go on another trip in a week and I probably won't get my check before I leave.

My wife was hospitalized in Germany…

My wife was hospitalized in Germany (we’re from the USA) after a fall in which she broke four ribs and then developed blood around her lung, requiring a drain to be inserted. The rep I spoke with jumped into action and kept me informed of everything they were doing. They spoke with the doctors, the hospital and made arrangements for my wife to fly home with the drain still in place, after a 7 day hospital stay. They provided a nurse to accompany us as well as transport to the airport and transport to our local hospital to remove the drain. All costing nothing out of pocket was a blessing! We’re awaiting settlement of our travel interruption claims. We’ll also be submitting a medical claim after we receive our EOB from our medical insurance company (we expect a partial reimbursement from our company with the balance covered by Trip Mate.

Not too easy but on the end worked for me

Honestly,was not easy for me to file online but after talking to representative I was able to print all forms and filled them manually.
A month later I had my money back .

Pleasant experience with help from Viking personnel

Initial reaction to form was that it was intended to discourage people from filing. However, Viking had personnel who walked me through the application. Ability to pause and continue later was great. Said I would get result in 30 days. Actually got a positive decision in a week!

Buy or beware?

How to cancel my flight cuz my sister has cancer, and it has gotten worse very low white cell. Count so she can't have visitation she's isolated. Now I'm being told that I need to supply doctor's note from her medical records like what for. I paid the extra money not to have this kind of headache. So now they deny. Me I'm out the money for the ticket plus the extra money for the insurance. This is a full-blown, scam. Buy or beware never buy insurance from these people or read the fine fine fine fine print.

Easy enough to file claims

Yes, there are plenty of documents to submit, but easy enough to get and upload. Travel agent also helped get needed info. But, the process was quick. I filed on 5/25, rec'd confirmation email 6/10, and rec'd refund 6/20.

Filed basic medical claim which was not…

Filed basic medical claim which was not user friendly. Should have been slam dunk for treatment of sinus infection on Viking cruise. Was denied with no explanation. Had to follow up myself online to determine status.
Since this post, Tripmate has responded and appears to have settled claim

Save all of your trip information and charges for which items.

First time I have had to make a claim. Very happy it was there. Claim form was difficult but call to office got me back on track. Too depressed by health issue which caused return home, to complete early.

It took 6 months & many many many calls
To get are money back cancelled in Oct 2024. Receive end of may 2025. The worst horrible experience ever with travel insurance, very stressful, and then accumulated all the interest.
Never again!!!!!

My wife had travelled half the trip to USA and had a baby there. But Now the doctor has advised to not travel for a few weeks due to her postpartum but she already has travel date.
Does the basic plan of Tripmate covers this case cancellation???

Happy with service!

We had to visit the onsite Dr while on vacation in Jamaica. I had to pay upfront, of course, but started the claim once we returned. The process was smooth and the communication was clear. I was able to recover all expenses paid while on vacation.

Denied

Denied. I missed my flight due to a 5 hour traffic caused by 2 semis collided on the only road to airport. And my trip which suppose to take me 1:30 hours took 5+ hours just sitting in the bus. They told me that's not covered.
