Don’t be overwhelmed by the initial impression of the paperwork necessary to file a claim. Customer service was excellent for us. Refund was so much quicker than we expected. Thank you Trip Mate

I suffered a fall next to last day of cruise. Spent 7 days in the hospital with surgery in Vietnam. Apprised by Trip Mate that checks would be arriving for time missed on the cruise. Checks never arrived. Contacted Trip Mate to learn that the checks had been issued and were cashed. Images of the checks sent by Trip Mate (at my request) reflected signatures not mine nor my partners and the checks were also endorsed to another person. Trip Mate had my bank send verification that they had not received the checks which my bank did. Still no checks. Trip Mate then asked my bank to investigate. Since the checks were not issued by my bank, my bank's fraud dept. believes the situation is not theirs to investigate (to which I agree). This was relayed to Trip Mate and...still no checks.

Terrible. Had a legitimate reason for cancelling our trip and gave us coupons for a future Sandals trip. Do yourself a favor and forget about this company. Customer service is horrendous.

The day before we were to leave on our carribean trip my husband was admitted to the hospital. I got on line and easily filed my claim, expecting a lot of difficulty getting reimbursed but it was very quickly approved and we received our refund a few days later. I am very impressed with this company and will use them for all future travel.

I was so relieved the process for claims was so completely explained. I received my claim number, collected my documents and submitted the claim. The claim process was straightforward and fair. I am sad we had to cancel our trip but I will always want Trip Mate insurance now that I have experienced the need for it. A great service and product.

Very professional service. Only question I had was the breakdown of payment and the seperate checks for reimbursement.

Trip Mate was efficient and timely in settling our claim. I would recommend anyone that takes long costly trips to be sure and safeguard their travels by purchasing coverage in case of mishaps or cancellations.

When my husband received a cancer diagnosis and we were forced to cancel our cruise, Trip Mate handled the claim process efficiently and quickly. Our full refund was a blessing in this situation and we are so happy we purchased the insurance.

Everything was done simply and online.

I needed help with my first ever travel insurance claim and got incomplete and different guidance between two different agents. Neither provided a way for me to work with a dedicated contact for continuity. Both indicated I should go ahead and submit the extra baggage fee and taxi cost incurred by a lengthy flight delay that caused me to miss embarking on my Viking cruise but that these would probably not be covered. The real shame is that Trip Mate is also denying my claim for a missed night on the ship. Their reason is that the American Airlines document confirms the flight delayed due to " maintenance" issues and they will only cover my missed night on the ship if the airline reports a "mechanical" issue. Either way the plane returned to the terminal and was taken out of service. This feels like splitting hairs by a company that may be better at protecting only their own interests, not the people who purchase their insurance which Viking offers. Trip Mate is not Viking and claimants will be on their own.
I'll respond to Trip Mate's offer below, but their agents already explained and confirmed the denial before I posted this review, so we'll see. I also asked the airline for more information about the cause of the delay in case that may help.
Update. I responded to Trip Mate's request to give them my details. All they did was more of the same. The agent asked me if I read the policy. Yes, but my point is about their service. And to suggest that people not be naive as I was because they sell through Viking. Investigate the options.

The claim process was easy and straight forward. I called and talked to a representative to understand timelines etc. She was very helpful. I was able to do all of the filing on line and we received our payment within a few weeks. We would definitely use Tripmate again.

We had booked our April ‘25 trip with Viking while on our Mediterranean cruise in December ‘23. Three days before we were set to leave, I hurt my knee. Spent the night in the ER but had to follow up with an orthopedic doc the following week. Come to find out I had a high-grade medial meniscus tear and some other issues with the knee. Fortunately, it’s not a knee replacement, but will have arthroscopic surgery on June 5th.

We contacted Viking for insight on filing a claim with Tripmate then contacted Tripmate. We provided all the ER reports, MRI and ortho docs reports to Tripmate. The claim was processed and approved in 7 days and payment received in about 2 weeks.

When you spend a significant amount of money on a trip it’s a no brainier to purchase the insurance. It is money well spent even if you don’t have to use it. While this was our only experience with a travel insurance company we recommend Tripmate for your travel insurance. We’ve booked another trip for ‘26 and will buy Tripmate insurance.

I filed my claim online easily, and received communication of receipt promptly. They needed additional information, which I provided, and the claim was promptly paid in full. I am a big traveler and will use Trip Mate again with certainty.

They had a simple claim filling process and processed and paid out the claim in less than 30 days after all information needed was submitted. I recommend.
getting this insurance whenever traveling because unexpected things happen and they had me covered.

Still waiting on our check. This has been our first claim for traveling. We have traveled for the past 20 years and this was the first time we had to use insurance. If Viking was a bit more giving we would not have had to use the service. NO Rebooking with Viking they don’t allow! Eggspensive!!!!! Easy answer for future cruises/trips. NEVER AGAIN with Viking!

We had to cancel our trip last minute due to an unplanned hip replacement surgery for my wife. Working with TripMate was flawless. Their process was seamless - very efficient, staff helpful and processing expedient! We’ve scheduled another trip and have secured insurance with TripMate. Great experience!

It was very pleasant to realize that TripMate is a reliable, credible travel insurance. I was always skepical of insurances. But when I had a death in the family and I had to do sudden changes in my travel plans. TripMate tried to help, but dealing with uncertainty such as death. The agents when not knowing solutions they will give helpful contacts. I am thankful for the honest process and fair refunds.

Waiting to receive a refund is horrible, no one seems to care, or help you, 6 months already and still waiting for that refund 😣

We always take out trip insurance but we almost didn’t this last trip because we booked last minute. My husband insisted and I’m so thankful we did. Two days before our trip, my husband went to the emergency room thinking he needed some IV fluids to boost his energy. He had Stage 4 lung cancer! The trip was cancelled and when I filled out the paperwork weeks later, my claim was approved and had my reimbursements in weeks. I thought it would Be more difficult but it was Easy to do online and when I called the representative was very compassionate and helpful.
