This is not a design tool
Used the tool a long time ago, and recently tried again. Poor results overall. It doesn’t go much further than resizing text and images to fit on slides / docs. A number of layout options are shown - but in reality only a small handful are of any use, and the ‘design’ of them is rudimentary. The overall UX of the product is worse today than the first time I tried it.

Better and easier than Canva!
I have found Typeset to be so much easier than Canva when it comes to creating eBooks and PDFs. Because it was easier, it meant I saved time, and it meant my confidence with a new tool got better faster as well. Highly recommend this.

Typeset is wonderful. I wanted it originally for helping me put together ebooks. But i have found it does a lot more then that and saves me a load of time.

All their advertisements are fake. There is no AI except for text generation—you have to do everything manually. I spent hours just creating a simple PDF, and I can't even export it after all that work!
Even the video that supposedly shows how easy it is to create PDFs is fake.

Advertising is straight-up fraudulent compared to the real experience
I made the mistake of subscribing to Typeset because I thought there was a 7-day trial referenced in the ad text. There was a slick video of a guy pasting completed ebook text into Typeset and the “AI” scanned the text and assembled the baseline book, laying out the pages, formatting the text, and adding context-relevant images in seconds as he easily made adjustments. It does literally none of that. The ad straight-up lies.
I cancelled after being frustrated by it for a few hours, hopelessly doing their trainings and reading their help section. I hit the support chat for help, only to receive a message that it’s not connected to anyone. I was shocked to see I’d been charged already. I immediately requested a refund.
Avoid this product. I don’t trust the positive reviews at all. This is simply not a production-ready product.

Great tools and simple to learn
Great tool! I've been using it a few days now and it has been a great experience.
I'm honestly quite shocked to see the previous reviews as it was really simple to understand. You just type, paste in or use AI to make the text and Typeset figures out layouts and different options for your text content.
Not sure what the previous people had issue with since it's so simple. Must be a skill issue I guess.
