Valspar Paint Reviews 

We have a large kitchen and spent a fortune getting everything redecorated. We chose the more expensive Valspar wood paint for the units. After a few months the paint started to wear off on corners of cabinets. It seemed quite plastic like. We sanded these areas and touched them up but the same happened. The worst paint ever! After a few years of constant touching up we have decided to pay a decorator to repaint with a different brand. Will google best paint and look carefully at recommendations ...wish I'd seen these reviews beforehand.

I had an after sales issue, the team were open to listening, provided advice and recommendations with clear honest communication and ultimately a resolution.

The product itself was superior and I can now see that my hesitation in paying more was backed by the after care.

I bought 3 x 5 litres of Valspar paint, 2 of which were made up to look like the card sample I chose in store. When I opened 1 tin of paint and painted the wall it didn’t look like the card sample at all. I went back to the store and was told by the store colleague that they don’t give refunds. The other tin of paint I purchased was a much better colour so as I needed more to paint the whole room I went back to the store to purchase more. As it was a different store and colleague this time, I mentioned that the previous paint I bought didn’t look like the sample, the colleague was very helpful and advised me to complete a refund online which I did. As I didn’t have enough money to buy another 5 litre pot of paint I purchased the smaller pot 2.5 litres but have now received an email saying I won’t be getting a refund as they’re different sizes?!

I honestly regret buying this paint. I used Valspar mid-sheen in a dark navy colour for a downstairs family bathroom and it has been one of the worst paints I’ve worked with.

The colour is nice, but the finish is awful:
- streaky coverage
- roller marks everywhere
- patchy/flashing finish
- uneven sheen
- endless coats needed
- touch-ups show badly

I specifically chose mid-sheen for durability because I have children, yet even water splashes leave marks on the walls.

For the price and effort involved, the quality is extremely disappointing. If I could redo the project, I would invest in a higher-quality paint brand designed specifically for dark colours and durability.

The classic paint is the worst I've ever used. No coverage, patchy, numerous coats, costing a fortune as used double the quantity as normal and now peeling off on the roller! Stupidly bought the wood/metal satin wood in same colour and after reading the reviews on here too scared to use it. Will have to get it colour matched with another better brand. DON'T BUY VALSPAR PAINTS

Amazing customer service in solving the issue at hand, but very poor comms between B&Q and Valspar. When I tried to use the voucher multiple times - B&Q had no idea what to do , had never seen this type of voucher and multiple times treated me as if I was trying to scam them. Recommend a simpler process of using a Valspar voucher at B&Q

I have generally been happy with Valspar paint so decided to try Valspar Furniture Interior Flat matt Emulsion in a mixed midnight blue. It was terrible, really disappointing. I had a smallish area to cover - approx 2m x 0.7m, pre-sanded. The first coat was patchy, despite thoroughly mixing the paint in the tin. It dried an uneven colour and uneven finish. To try to improve the surface, I gave it a light sand which made the colour even more uneven. A second coat improved the overall colour so it was pretty much what I had expected but the 'flat' finish was very patchy. The tin estimated 10-12m2 coverage - I used almost half a 2.5l tin to get the depth of colour and could probably have used more to get a more uniform finish. I abandoned the job and will revert to another manufacturer's paint that I was planning to use in the first place.

We wanted Dulux but since we were getting colour match from b&q we had to have the valspar. The paint is thin and requires a few coats but more importantly and to our horror, the wood paint for the skirting boards and cupboards is absolutely horrendous. We printed, painted, left to dry, painted a few days later again and didn't put anything on the shelves for over 4 weeks. Two days ago I put a vase of flowers on the cupboard top, on a glass coaster for protection and the coaster is stuck fast. I haven't forced it off yet because I know it's going to lift a load of paint with it. It's the worst paint we have ever come across and honestly, given we haven't even put our ornaments back on the shelves yet, we are already fearing what will happen when we want to rearrange anything. I am bitterly disappointed. I just wish I had seen these other reviews beforehand but I am also going to pursue a refund as we have been sold paint not at all fit for purpose.

Great service, refunded our first colour no question asked. Swatch match to paint spot on but when applied colour came up more pink. Second colour came out spot on.
Only criticism is how to remove the lid with out the tool used at the paint counter.

Used Valspar Premium wall and ceiling paint for first time and found it to be excellent quality paint with rapid coverage, no spatter from roller and it gave a flawless look in the matt finish. I also had to contact their customer service team and got through to a human in less than one minute and the customer service agent was highly knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. All round excellent product and service.

Valspar as a good will gesture refunded money for paint

WORST PAINT EVER!!
Wasted £104 on 2 5ltrs premium mixed tins and put 2 coats on walls and ceiling of a small bedroom.
Masked up with low tack frog tape to varnish skirting boards and when taking off it completely peeled the paint of too!Easily marked and blistering in places.TOTALLY AVOID WASTING YOUR TIME WITH THIS POOR PRODUCT.Previously used Crown and was by far the best paint just didnt have the colour we wanted.

Hi, bought Valspar "Skimming Stone" which we have had matched to Farrow and Ball's Skimming stone in the past. The formula has seemed to change!...colour much lighter than the original (2 houses with all rooms "Skimming Stone")...and needed 2 or 3 coats to get overall coverage .Disappointed that it wasn't up to your usual standard.

I have never received a voucher for this free paint offer so no good telling me to go to B&Q before the voucher runs out if I have nothing to show .Very typical with all these free things, they don't seem to exist .

I can only assume Velpar have decided to reduce the quality of their paint, hoping nobody would notice! When Valspar first hit the shelves of B&Q we used it and found it to be very good in some case better than much more expensive brands, so it was our go to paint when doing a complete house renovation. However, it does not adhere very well and has peeled in many places, it does not cover very well with many places leading at least three coats. It does not wipe clean if you brush against this paint it will mark and the only way to get rid of the mark is to paint over it (TWICE!!)
Whoever is responsible for this cost cutting exercise needs to understand this will now cost your company massively, just look at your reviews I was one of your biggest fans I will not be purchasing Valspar anymore.
You need to sort this out. We do notice!!

We chose paint that didn't look as we hoped when applied. Valspar honoured their Love Your Colour Guarantee speedily, without problem and with wonderful customer service. We are thrilled with the new colour and quality of the paint!

Amazing Service.Mia was veey helful and helped us select the right colors suggesting some coordinating color options. Will definitely recommend as mosg of the times the color looks different on the wall than in the box. Will recommend using testers always.
