I ordered the spiral cut Ribeye, along with Sirloin for my partner and the spaghetti bolognaise for my son.
Both steaks where tough, sirloin was over cooked, supposed triple cooked chips where uncooked and cold, my sons meal was surrounded in a pool of over cooked baked beans. The meal looked microwaved and tasted awful!!
I requested a calamari starter and garlic mushrooms. Both where sat under a lamp for 22 minutes, arrived at barely room temperature and was sent back.
Calamari should never be left for that long, especially to reach and sit at room temperature!!
It took 50 minutes from ordering to services. The place was not busy and had adequate staff.

I spoke to the manager concerning the disgraceful food which we did not eat and explained we will not be coming back.
He apologised and said they where undergoing “new management” changes and trying to train up new chefs. UNACCEPTABLE that consumers have to pay for the short coming of this place.

Everything from service to food was terrible! Went next door to Wildwood, which was fantastic service and food. I will not be returning to this so called steak house. Terrible service and even worse food!!!!! avoid like the plague

Worst steak I have ever had.
Having visited bar and block In Portsmouth a few months back where I had an exceptional meal decided to book a visit to the Wimbledon venue when I was in town. What a mistake.
I ordered 2 fillets cooked medium. Meal came and looked ok. After a few pieces it was very obvious that that steak was very unevenly cooked, being med at the ends to rare to blue in the middle. I immediately returned this to the kitchen and asked for another steak. After returning to my table it was very clear that my wife’s steak was exactly the same. Again, I returned this to the kitchen only to hear the chef asking what the issue was and in turn, watched him take the half eaten/sliced steak from my plate and put it back on the grille to continue cooking and return it cooked medium. This may be the way of rectifying unevenly cooked steak in bar and block but not one I was going to accept. I informed the server that I wasn’t happy with this and asked him not to return the food. I finished my drinks and left never to return.

Went to the Birmingham restaurant the food was alright, the steak was decent but the mixed grill wasn’t great. We were served by Kevin who was great, really friendly and fast service.

Honestly really disappointing. So rubbish as we get one night out a month and Honestly this food was the blandest meal I've ever had. DO NOT EAT HERE. The "tripple fried chips" were chewy, cold like they were reheated 5 times. My steak was OK tbf but totally unseasoned but my wife's was tough and not cooked to the right amount ( she wanted medium and got rare) .The sides were tiny and bland, i mean the mac and cheese side dish was about 4 table spoons. The "blue cheese" sauce was the worst I've ever had in my life, looks like a pot of bogeys, tastes like there is 0% blue cheese. When I dipped my steak in it I found there was a peice of plastic in my cheese sauce, we complained obviously and were told the sauce comes out of a packet so the plastic must have come from there? Honestly, for the cost make your own cheese sauce ? It's not hard or time consuming at this price you would expect a little effort at least. The food was awful and even after we complained both bad meals still cost us £55 plus drinks with the discount%. .Would have been better going to our local pub for a steak or paying the extra and going Miller & Carter. Never going again to Block and Bar, rubbish overpriced food, poor quality attempt at a Miller and Carter, failed miserably.

I went to bar and block in Bath for my partners birthday with our two children on Sunday 12th September.
I had the steak and lobster halfway through my steak I had a mouthful of gristle which I had to spit back onto plate , I then looked closer at my remaining steak to find a large piece of unrendered inedible fat and the remaining meat to be completely raw, any more raw and it would be mooing .
I asked for my steak to be cooked medium/rare it was neither medium or rare it was RAW .
I pointed this out to the waitress and she offered to take my drink off the bill but as I only had a coke I never thought that this was adequate which I told her, she replied saying I could go and see the manager.
Why should I have to get up from my table to see the manager when the manager should have come to me as they were practically empty.
I emailed head office over a week ago and have not heard back .
I did have a automated reply immediately saying the had received my complaint.
They will cook you a inedible steak charge you £28 and ignore your complaint.
Total cost for our meals was over £100 so to be offered a £3 coke was unacceptable.
Won’t be going back

From the start of my experience in your Portsmouth branch tonight, things were poor. We were seated by lovely young woman who went on to explain a few dishes were off, which you do expect, but about 10 dishes were unavailable!! She was very friendly, but she subsequently forgot to tell the girl looking after our table that we'd arrived. When it was finally realised we weren't actually that annoyed after an apology from another friendly young woman. We ordered our drinks, starters and mains altogether to save time, thankfully we did. It took around 10-15 minutes for our drinks to arrive and my drink was finished by the time my starter arrived and I wasn't asked for a refresh. The Korean Ribs were amazing, but the squid was overcooked. When our starters were collected, the waitress hesitated and thought about putting my dirty fork back on the table for my Main. Still drinkless, it took another 10-15 minutes for our mains to arrive, as our napkins weren't refreshed, we were forced to take them from the empty table next to us. The whole experience was disappointing as my partner and I were looking forward to a reportedly great meal. I'm not likely to return.

Bar + Block Alie Street Aldgate.

The steak and chips from the kids menu was fantastic. The staff were kind, friendly and helpful. The vegan sloppy joe was a great choice for my veggie mum and the trio of fish hit the spot for daddy. Would definitely recommend you eat here.

Absolutely shocking.
I ordered a sirloin steak at 8pm
At 8:55pm I called the waiter to ask what's going on he went away and came back at 9pm and told me they havnt got any sirloin steak left ....WOW he said he will bring a different steak for me in 3 min

When it came out at 9:20 it was freezing cold over cooked ,was like they had warmed up a waisted steak from another costumer from the bin .
I can't believe what I experienced here .even the waiter said to me this place is terrible

Went to the bar and block in Bath, Great meal and friendly atmosphere the staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you! Our steak was perfect. I Would definitely go back they need one closer to me in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 thanks bar and block it was awesome!

Decent, beef popcorn went down well at our table, food was good, service was good (Bastain looked after us, very efficient). Overall happy with the night.

Extremely poor. Ran out of 50% of the steaks on the menu by 6pm. Manager was rude and treated us like we owed them our service. Never again.

Table for four booked 19/06/2021 (B’ham)sirloin ordered medium rare when arrived it was on the border of rare/blue asked to speak to manager whom suggested that was how medium rare is cooked at this restaurant then they wanted to put it back on the griddle even though it was cut in half!! Ordered a replacement which took approx 20 mins mean while the other three guests are eating their meals when complaining about this the manager looked back in disbelief as it was my fault for sending the steak back!! Then the second steak arrived delivered by the manager again i cut the steak in half with the manager watching with hopefulness but to no avail again steak arrived on the border of blue/rare again rejected and now manager asking me to change my choice of mains!! Third steak eventually arrived approx 40 mins after first attempt obviously manager missed the customer service/satisfaction part of her training!!!!!! I did get my main taken off the bill but that is not the point evening for me ruined by very poor customer service and inability to cook medium rare on request!!!

Just enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Lindsey and all the other staff looking after me. Food was fantastic

All food was overcooked dry and almost burnt. Only comment from server was a apology stating they needed another chef. Would not return

Their steaks are the best I've had,been here a few times,good prices.excellent service & mouthwatering food,I love the beef popcorn too,I've had every steak on the menu,the only one i wasn't keen on was the special they had which was the spiral ribeye.
I would love them to bring back the Apple slaw, absolutely gorgeous!!

This was my complaint to Bar and Block
On Saturday 10 October 2020, myself, my partner and another couple attended your restaurant, Bar and Block, in Birmingham city centre. We were looking forward to this treat as it was to be the first occasion we had ventured out due to the Covid outbreak. It was especially anticipated because my partner and the other female are both sisters in a Covid Intensive Treatment Unit in a local hospital. Since March of this year, they have both worked long hours trying to save lives from this awful pandemic, putting their lives on the line to help others in need, so this treat was especially welcomed by both women. However, I now come to the reason for this letter.
Three of us enjoyed our meals, but my partner, who ordered the Trio of Fish meal found that there were too many bones for her to enjoy her meal, but moreover, the fish was very dry. She didn’t eat the fish and didn’t complain and in hindsight, she wish she had mentioned it earlier when she first tasted it. When the waiter arrived at the table, he asked if everything was ok. Whether it was because the fish was uneaten on her plate I don’t know, but I informed him of the reason it was uneaten. He said that he would speak to the manager.
The manager arrived at our table with what I can only call an attitude asking what the problem was. I told him that there were too many bones and the fish was very dry. He immediately pointed out that the menu shows an asterix (denoting bones in the fish), this we knew. I then re-iterated that the fish was dry. He then became aggressive and rude. It was obvious to us all that this manager didn’t want to hear our complaint. He also removed his face mask which I asked him to replace. He stated that he didn’t have to wear a face mask. As he walked away, we all heard him say “suck your mother”. On hearing this, I got up from my seat and asked him “what did you just say to me?” He told me to sit down shut up and denied saying what we had all clearly heard. Although I was still angry, I apologised and returned to table, he didn’t apologise. To calm down, I went outside for a cigarette and my friend came with me, leaving the two women inside the restaurant. The manager approached the women and said “I’m sorry this has happened and I didn’t say “suck your mum”. My partner told him that they just wanted to pay the bill and go. At front desk the waiter, who continued to be polite and friendly took payment.
I arrived back at the table with my friend to collect the women and to leave. We then noticed that the manager was standing at the entrance, talking to two police officers. As we approached them, I asked what the problem was. The female officer told us to “carry on and p*** off!” As this comment from a police officer was making a bad situation worse and was reigniting my anger, I left the building. My partner approached the male officer and asked why we hadn’t been asked what the problem was and why they had only spoken to the manager and not to us. I asked why they had been called and was told that they had received a call that we were refusing to leave and also refused to pay the £114 bill. My partner told the officer that we never refused to pay the bill, but didn’t feel that we should be paying for the uneaten fish. She also added that we were not a group of boozy freeloaders trying avoid paying for a meal and that we were all professional people, two NHS Sisters, a teacher and a Shipping Logistics Offer.
I’m afraid that purely because of the attitude and rudeness of your manager, who ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening for us, we would never recommend your establishment. Whether your manager was just having a bad day or is just a rude and antagonistic person, he did not show your establishment in a good light and should not be a manager if he can’t control his tongue and listen to the people who want resturants like yours to survive in the current climate.

Bath branch, Covid 19 safe and clean

We went for dinner during the August Eat Out To Help Out scheme. The tables were well spaced out and they had screens up. There was plenty of hand sanitizer and a one way system around the restaurant. There was a limited menu, but it was lovely food and the staff were friendly. I would definitely recommend Bar + Block.

Excellent all round service, food and the service the whole package.
Served attentively by Eren, in the Kings Cross Restaurant.
He remembered my hubby & myself as we had stayed previously a fortnight ago. Can highly recommend. Thanks see you again in November.

I visited this place recently, was disappointed with the lack of choice on the menu and then BOOM I had ordered some food and it was delicious. Excellent service great food, reasonable price.
