Simply a scam
Simply a scam, disguised in c-level profiles and events.
I was first tempted to a 1 year subscription that ended very quickly with an "exclusive" offer for a "lifetime" subscription. But guess what, suddenly the "lifetime" turns into a yearly that is expired and they ask you for an exorbitant yearly renewal amount.
Not only that, you are promised exclusive access to exclusive content, which turns to be available everybody on publicly available websites. And when asking about specific geography opportunity, you are told that there aren't many available for this geography and they are only US based.
You see every issue has a manipulative answer and you never get the honest truth that this is scam for those aspiring to be in the senior leadership ranks.
Possible criminal scam?
Scam. Complete scam. RUN AWAY!
If I could give them zero stars, I would.
They are simply preying on vulnerable people who are looking for jobs.
As others have written, they take your $299 then auto renew your supposed "lifetime membership" for $99 each year.
Their executive listings are aggregated from other sites.
They don't have any actual customer service to speak of and don't respond to inquiries.
At best, they are grossly incompetent and at worst they are criminal.
Don't waste your money or time.
It’s a scam
It’s a scam. Paid for a lifetime subscription and was informed 2 years later that my subscription has expired. They do not reply to queries and complaints.
As for the quality of expertise at webinars - very outdated and generic. Complete waste of time and money.
Underwhelming platform, limited US job listings, and non-existent customer service
As an Executive and Columbia Business School MBA, I was offered a discounted yearly subscription to BlueSteps through our Alumni portal. The subscription cost around $215 dollars for a term of 12 months. Looking back, I wish I had avoided joining this platform.
BlueSteps can be best described as a job listings aggregator, similar to other mainstream websites. In my first month using BlueSteps, many of their specialty job search functions were non-operational or disabled, including the AESC Executive recruiter database and exclusive listings. As a paying user, I felt that I was receiving a poor return on my initial investment. At the time, I sent BlueSteps support an email conveying my concern on these issues and it went unanswered.
When BlueSteps rebooted these features in 12/2023, I found that a majority of the job listings were international (non-US) and mostly in the academic sector. When looking in the US, and in areas like NYC, I found a general lack of recruiters and listing that were contrary to BlueSteps value proposition when I signed up.
Since I paid for a full year in advance, I held out hope that my site experience would improve - it didn't. Four months into my annual subscription, BlueSteps attempted to issue a new annual subscription for my account onto my payment card. I was notified via email that my payment didn't process (one that i didn't anticipate being due) and that my subscription was suspended. I'm not sure what to say, as my payment card didn't change, yet BlueSteps continued to attempt rebilling me weekly through the next four weeks. Over this process, I was surprised at how active BlueSteps was to take steps to deactivate my account visibility and access to their platform features, while ignoring any requests for support as to why my annual subscription was being rebilled after four months of service.
I spent a considerable amount of time reaching out to Bluesteps, via their website email, LinkedIn page, and known BlueSteps Executive consultants to try and get assistance. Its clear that this firm lacks a modern customer service proposition - seven personalized emails and multiple voicemails went unanswered over four weeks - and when calling their corporate line, I found that their corporate number was either invalid or had a full voicemail.
I had strong hopes for BlueSteps and their partnership with AESC. This experience left me very disappointed and I do not recommend this service for others Executives looking for job opportunities within the US.
Ironically, through this journey, BlueSteps still has not removed my payment card from their system after multiple emailed requests. I feel that I will be forever tied to this firm, in the event they wish to bill me for a service I no longer desire. I am emphatic for others who have allayed their concerns with similar stories with BlueSteps and hold out hope that the firm remedies these issues.

Feels like a scam - definitely not worth the cost
I paid for a lifetime subscription and it was cancelled after a year because I didn't pay the "renewal" fee. Even during that year, the value of this service/product is very low. It's a marketing company with a job board and tons of attempts to cross-sell coaching services. I hesitate to call it a scam, but it definitely feels like a scam.
Bluesteps is a scam company dressed up…
Bluesteps is a scam company dressed up as legitimate. DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING. They will take your payment and then start charging you $99 after six months, suspending your subscription everytime. I paid for one year, got six months and then they locked in out of my account because I blocked their attempts to charge me $99 every week for a month. They do not reply to complain emails. I will refer them to the ombudsman to see if they can do anything about these day light robbers.
Good Experience
Initially, I felt the personal branding advice was basic and something I already knew. But as I implemented the strategies more diligently, I noticed a significant improvement in how I was perceived online. It was a slow start, but the long-term benefits have been undeniable.

I was underwhelmed by the initial job listings I found on BlueSteps, feeling they didn't match my level of expertise. But after updating my career profile with more detail, the quality of job matches improved significantly. It turns out, a little effort on my profile made a huge difference.
Worth it.
Initially, I was skeptical about the value of BlueSteps given the investment. However, after fully engaging with their services and speaking to a career advisor, I'm finding my time, effort and money has definitely been worth the investment so far. Knocking a star off for some customer service woes.
My first career coaching session felt…
My first career coaching session felt somewhat generic and like i was being sold to, leaving me a bit frustrated. However, after speaking to some of my contemporaries who worked with a coach, I decided to go for it. As we progressed and delved deeper into my specific challenges and goals, the advice I received became incredibly tailored and impactful. I'm glad I stuck with it and if you're giving it a second thought, just do it.

Transitioning from the military to a civilian executive role has been a bit intimidating. I felt a bit directionless. The career coaching sessions with BlueSteps were instrumental in helping my transition to be easy. My coach's expertise in translating my military experience into corporate lingo has been key to securing the role I am interviewing for now!

As a female executive in tech, I've often found myself in the minority. BlueSteps's mentorship program connected me with Jacqueline Foley who's navigated similiar challenges. Her guidance has been invaluable in strategizing my next career move. It's empowering to have such tailored support and incredibility

I didn't find their service to provide any extra benefit in being connected with executive recruiters. They are almost impossible to get a hold of and once you subscribe you will be annually billed until you call your credit card company and dispute the charge and block them from billing you any further....

I find the resume review service from BlueSteps very helpful. My coach give me many good advice to make my resume stand out. I see big difference before and after, and now I feel more confident to apply for executive jobs.
It was general
It was general. I am looking at the title and I can see that become a thought leader in Linked in was part of the key message. Perhaps I thought it was going to focus specifically on recruiters vs general thought leader communication for brand enhancement. Recruiting has gotten way more technical and therefore, I was looking for content strategies to break through and target specifically recruiters vs broad communications strategy through linked IN.

Says they give lifetime service but its a lie. This is fraud company.
Paid for lifetime service $299 couple years ago. Now they said my subscription expired and asked to update update my credit card on file to login again. when I did that, I saw that they have charged $99 on my card without any explanation.
I'm contacted CC company to stop this fraud payment.
Their services are totally useless. All their free recorded videos and seminars are some form of advertising for other placement and resume writing companies.

Attending the BlueSteps networking event. The interview Lab was really eye-opening for me. I only wish it could have been longer! But he chance to meet peers from around the globe was truly invaluable. Like me, many of us had come from backgrounds where we have seldom had to interview, so the insights from Simeon Wong and other attendees were enlightening. Hats off to BlueSteps for putting together such a meaningful event, i am looking forward to the next one.
