The Specialized Sirrus X 3.0 I purchased from CyclesUK Maidstone in 2024 made it to 2 years old this week. I had the guys and gals, Dean, James & Poppy, service it again to keep it in top condition. It rides great, very quiet and being almost invisible due to its colour, it is extremely stealthy.
Currently Russ, Adam and Nathan are helping me with a frame build project, suggesting parts etc and trying to answer my stupid, constant un knowledgable questions on something I know little about. Bless them.
Yes, they can’t compete on price like the internet but then you can’t get invaluable, expert knowledge on aliexpress or top notch servicing either.
If you’ve ordered parts or have a bike in for service they’ll ring or message you when the bits are in or the bike is ready to collect. And if they think your machine is dangerous to ride, un economical to repair etc. they’ll tell you. It’s called honesty. I can’t praise the whole team enough.
Next month it’s my Aethos’s turn for a service. I’ve invested in a nice bike so I want to invest in its longevity.

I ordered a bike through Cycle to work on 26/4/26. A Whyte Rheo 2.
The bike did not arrive until 14/5/26 which is a lot longer than it suggests on their website.
When it arrived I took it on a test ride on 15/05/26. The rear wheel started wobbling and rubbing against the frame. On inspection it became clear the spokes on the rear wheel had not been tightened correctly.
This was immediately highlighted to Cycles UK as their pre delivery inspection had clearly not been carried out correctly.
It took nearly 2 weeks to get any kind of response. That response was I had to arrange to take it to a local bike shop to sort their mistake. Given the time delay this response was not suitable and I requested a return and full refund.
It took until 27 May 26 to have the bike collected and once returned it took until 8 June 2026 to have the refund processed.
No apologies, no resolution to my complaint.
Poor customer service throughout and poor timekeeping, communication and dangerous pre delivery inspection.
The most common cause of a rear derailleur snapping is an impact from the bike being dropped or crashed. The next most common cause would be gears jamming due to wear of poor indexing.
We recommend that all new bikes have a service after 4 to 6 weeks and then again after 6 months. This is to do a visual inspection of the bike for damage and to make sure that gears and brakes are running correctly. It is normal for gears and brakes to need some adjustment on a new bike. You should have had emails on the servicing from our automated systems. From our records it looks like you have had the bike for about 6 months and you have said it has not been serviced.
Due to the nature of the part that looks to have broken, and the fact the bike has not been serviced, this would probably not be a warranty issue. However, we would recommend getting the bike into a local shop for them to inspect and check. If they do believe it is a warranty issue after inspection please let us know. ( Shop where ive bought bike never send me any emails to offer after sale service.
Thats not because part worn out. So mine reply them You mentioned that I should have received emails regarding the recommended 4–6 week and 6-month service intervals, however I did not receive any emails or contact offering an after-sales service or reminding me about servicing.
I also do not believe that simply not having the bike serviced automatically means this cannot be a warranty issue, especially if the component may have failed due to wear, weakness, or a manufacturing defect. And company replay was If it is warranty then the parts would normally be provided free of charge by the manufacturer of the derailleur and we would normally re-imburse reasonable inspection costs (up to around £50).

Cycles UK - Maidstone - Lockmeadow - I needed a new rear tyre for my Vado SL damaged on my daily commute to work and was hoping for quick repair. The team here offered a wonderfully efficient same-day replacement. They were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. My bike is now back on the road, performing wonderfully thanks to their excellent work. I'm very pleased with the quality of service and the new tyre.

Joke of a company my sons peddle always comes off . But this company says it should be services in 6 weeks . What's a load of @££@ ive had bike for 35 years and fixed myself . Will not be buying again from here

Extremely good and helpful service. A mistake was rectified almost instantly and the goods are of excellent quality.
Avoid - stick to the usual suspects, Sigma, Tredz, Merlin etc. So having placed an order for some mudguards and a water bottle on 11 January i hear nothing. It takes until 18 January for them to acknowledge the order, not by contacting me but just by updating the order status. Wait another day and nothing so i email them. I get a response apologising for the delay but the water bottle i ordered (which was showing as in stock) wasnt and they were waiting for that to come in "as soon as this is received we'll dispatch your order" - great. At no point has anyone from Cycles UK had the decency to contact me as it was me always checking in. Now i wait with baited breath on the £62 refund. Reading some poor reviews on here it seems i'm not alone. As i say at the start, stick with the main retailers who at least have some level of customer care
After some online advice I bought the correct gear cables. A good price and speedy delivery.
This company has had my return tracked by the label they supplied since the 22nd September and even with an email and a phone call I still have not recieved a refund for my returned goods. Totally unacceptable behaviour

I used the Chelmsford branch. Needed a mobility scooter wheel replaced as had a puncture. I can honestly say what a great job was done. The guys went over and above. It sounds very easy replace a tyre. They were so persistent as it was such a tight fit of the tyre. From an eFOLDI. Lite mobility scooter. Not the standard service. It was outstanding service.
Bought a 2.3k electric bike from Cycles UK Greenwich store. After two weeks wait I go get my bike. As soon as I get home I realise the Bosch electric battery in the bike is broken. I immediately contact the store and explain the situation with added pictures. I also explain the electric bike is a very needed object for us as we do not have a car and depend on it to drive our kids here and there. I also explain I have a second battery available for this bike (from previous ebike). The shop insists on me bringing the whole bike back and leaving it with them instead of just bringing the broken battery (the bike itself is absolutely fine). This would mean for me, finding the time, climbing the 126 stairs of Greenwich tunnel with a 25 kg bike (elevators still broken) and living with my bike for some time. Just because of the dogmatic attitude of this shop. All of this could be avoided if they just accepted to be slightly customer centric and have a look at the battery.
Very poor customer service with online orders also very slow.

Kept updated on the delivery status which arrived on time and arrived in good condition.
