Dogs Trust Glasgow are tremendous.
I’ve just adopted the sweetest little dog from Dogs Trust Glasgow. It took 3 months free m the time of applying on line and visiting regularly to meet the dogs and talk to the staff but it all paid off and there’s a happy little older dog sitting on my couch right now and changing my life for the better.

Dog Adoption
We had been waiting quite some time for a match and had registered with several rescues.
We were delighted to get a call from Dogs Trust at Basildon, who thought they had a match for us.
Within two weeks, we had met her twice and were able to bring her home.
The whole process was well managed and we had lots of helpful information in the pack we brought home. We also had a check in call a couple of days in.
Although it is early days, our little dog has been perfect and we are so glad to have her home.

I found the dogs trust very professional. The process was very clear and communication was good. We got a chance to meet with a few dogs and found the staff caring and informative about the dogs. I also continue to feel supported as we start our journey with a new pup!

Our adoption from The Dogs Trust
We had such an amazing experience with the Dogs Trust for our adoption! We submitted an application online to our nearest centre (Cardiff) and we weren't expecting too much to come from it. After a couple of months we were contacted by the lovely team there and told there was a puppy that might be suitable for us. We went along for a meet & greet the next day and everything went great! The meet was really relaxed and the team were all very friendly and helpful. We booked our adoption day for a few days later and, again, everything went very smoothly. We were helped through the various bits of paperwork, all the important post-adoption info and steps were explained very well. We left with our new pup and our over the moon with how everything went! Thanks to all the team at Cardiff!

Why is it so difficult?
We lost our beloved Yorkie back in April and his loss was too much to bear so we decided to go down the route of rehoming some three months later. Amongst others we contacted Dogs Trust but with little success. Numerous phone calls were had to try and plead our case and bump us up the queue but to no avail. Meanwhile, out of the blue we contacted Blue Cross rescue and were contacted on the same day. Within 2 weeks and 700 miles of travel we welcomed a beautiful 5 year old Cavapoo into our home who is now loved and living his best life. We don't doubt that Dogs Trust eventually home all these dogs but not impressed with our experience.

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your Yorkie - please accept our sincere condolences.
When you apply to adopt, our rehoming team look closely at the details you provided about your home, lifestyle and preferences, alongside their dog's behaviours, needs and requirements.
Every dog has different requirements, so we look at everything on a case-by-case basis, and the team take time to check potential matches thoroughly. Our rehoming centres work through a large volume of active applications, so while each application is reviewed frequently, the team aren’t able to reach out unless they’ve identified a dog they feel could be suitable.
We know the silence can feel like nothing is happening, but we do want to reassure you that each application is actively considered behind the scenes, and the team will be in touch as soon as a potential match is found. Sometimes it can be quick; for others, it may take several weeks, a couple months or, occasionally, a little longer.
Our rehoming team work hard to get to know each dog, their behaviour, health and history, and to understand the requirements they need in a home. We ultimately trust our experts to make the best decisions for each of our dogs.
We are pleased to hear that you have been able to welcome a rescue dog into your home, and we do hope that you are making many happy memories together.

Fantastic, comprehensive, professional, supportive process
I was really impressed with my experience with Dogs Trust West Calder from start to finish. From my first visit to fill out my adoption application and find out more about Lilly, to ongoing communication about her via WhatsApp up until the day I took her home I couldn't be more impressed! Lilly had a minor ailment that meant there was a delay in her coming home to us while she was treated for that and the vet signed her off as fit. I felt well-supported throughout, and was impressed with the prompt and well-informed responses to my (many!) questions from the staff. I loved that she came home with a HUGE bag of toys and food, and that she was given 4 weeks of free pet insurance until I could sort out my own. The advice I was given at my adoption meeting was really helpful, and I like that there is follow-up support, if needed, as well. Lilly is the perfect wee dog for our family and we are delighted to finally have her as part of our lives. I would heartily recommend Dogs Trust to anyone thinking of adopting a dog.

Adoption Process
First time adopting a puppy from Dogs Trust. The staff were amazing from the initial introduction to Luna through to us bringing her home. They made the whole process easy providing us with all the information required for adopting a puppy. Helpful puppy pack with tips and advice on bringing a new puppy into your home, even provided a crate and food to start us off. Very supportive and helpful and the follow up call to see how our fur baby had settled in was appreciated.

Dogs trust Leeds
We went to dogs trust Leeds and found them professional and friendly we had a look at the dogs for re-homing then had a chat with a staff member who explained the procedure to adopt a dog, we were introduced to a black lab and took her for a walk, we went another twice and got acquainted with her then took her home and had a follow up call 2 days later to make sure everything was OK. They made the experience very easy comfortable.

The staff at Evesham are brilliant and took the time to listen to our needs in a new dog after loosing our fur baby a few months earlier. We didn’t know if it was the right time but they made us feel like it would happen if it was meant too. No pressure at all.

We changed our rehoming process in November 2023. Some dogs were receiving hundreds of applications whilst other lovely dogs weren't receiving any. Our current process is a general application, rather than for a specific dog, and it means that each dog has an equal chance, and we can regularly review each application we receive.
When you apply, our rehoming team regularly review your application in the background, looking closely at the details you provided about your home, lifestyle and preferences, alongside each dog's behaviours, needs and requirements. Every dog has different requirements, so we look at everything on a case-by-case basis, and the team take time to check potential matches thoroughly.
We receive a large volume of applications, so while each application is reviewed frequently, the team aren’t able to reach out unless they’ve identified a dog they feel could be suitable.
We keep every application open for three months, but if we haven’t been able to make a match within this period, we’ll contact you to invite you to reapply so we can keep your details up to date.
Our Training & Behaviour teams work extremely hard to get to know each dog and their requirements and work with them whilst they are in our care, so we ultimately trust them to make the best decisions possible.
