We were made very welcome by Dogs Trust…
We were made very welcome by Dogs Trust in Darlington. They gave us time to look around, they chatted to us and offered lots of helpful advice. They gave us lots of time with the dog we were interested in, we didn't feel rushed and they chatted with us about the process etc. We did a couple of meets with our dog, bringing our kids etc and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and kind. This made the whole adopting process an enjoyable experience. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Dogs Trust to anyone looking for a dog.

Excellent experience
We had a very good experience all the way through, from application to 'liking' some of the dogs to the contact at Bridgend on the phone, in person and via WhatsApp. So many beautiful dogs to re-home. This is our second rescue dog and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent adoption process
We recently adopted the lovely Boo from Dogs Trust Cumbria, Becky and Andrea at the centre were so friendly and helpful during the whole adoption process. All the information and guidance they gave us, together with lots of information from Boo's foster home, really helped us prepare and settle Boo in. It's reassuring to know there will always be help and support available if we need it. A big thank you again to Andrea, Becky and all the team at the Cumbria Centre.

Thankyou for my beautiful princess peggy
I can't thank dogs trust enough for letting me adopt gorgeous peggy. She is the most sweetest dog and has completely stolen my heart. After looking around for a dog i stumbled across and watched the Pete Wicks program with dogs trust and it made me think so much more about adoption animal welfare and all the dogs needing rehoming. I contacted dogs trust and favourited the dog I liked on my application form. The process has been smooth, i visited the centre a few times to meet the dog I was matched with which happened to be my favorite. And she is now safely home with me. The staff in uxbridge branch were lovely friendly and welcoming and the care thats put into the dogs is incredible. I have now sponsored a dog patch from their site and will continue to support dogs trust and advocate where I can.

Fantastic experience rescuing our beautiful boy Trevor from the Dog's Trust at West Calder last week. The staff are brilliant and were so helpful and knowledgeable and we loved the stringent screening to be able to take him. Title: Disappointed & unfairly restricted — taking care was seen as being difficult
I’m writing this because I believe there’s been a genuine misunderstanding at Dogs Trust Evesham that has left me feeling very hurt and unfairly treated.
I applied to adopt a dog because I want to give a loving forever home — something I take incredibly seriously. I’ve been told I’m now restricted from adopting because I “applied too many times” and couldn’t decide on a dog size. The facts are:
- I was told there were 3 applications against my name — I only ever applied twice: once for Ronnie, and then again when I revisited.
- When I didn’t proceed with Fernando, it was not because of his size — it was purely because he wasn’t house-trained, and I carefully decided that wouldn’t be the right match for either of us. That was being responsible, not indecisive.
Asking questions, taking time to get the right fit, and making sure a dog’s needs match your home isn’t being difficult — it’s exactly what a caring, committed adopter should do. I feel my thoughtfulness has been turned against me, and I’ve been denied the chance to offer a dog a loving home over what seems like a misunderstanding.
I understand I might of complained and made complaints when mistakes were occurring but that is Purley because it was a issue with the dogs information being misleading multiple times .
I respect the work Dogs Trust does, and I know the staff work hard. I just hope someone will look at this fairly, because all I’ve ever wanted is to do the right thing and give a dog a wonderful home.
I don't feel I should be being ignored when I write to head office to apologise and appeal this , I have a write to be listened to and taken seriously.

Great Team
The staff at Dogs Trust Harefield were very good. The application process was fairly simple to complete, the selection process is a little slower than we expected, but once we were matched, we got our dog home in 2 weeks. The meets we did were very professional and the staff were always friendly. It is nice to know that even after the dog is rehomed, they still keep in touch and are happy to help if any issues develop, its great to know that the staff are caring and ready to help if needed. We came home with leaflets and medical history for our vets and lots of help phone numbers. They are doing a great job and we would happily come back, maybe for another!

All the staff were lovely and very friendly
All the staff were lovely and very helpful. Knew the dog well that we adopted. Everyone was smitten with her. Even other people that were coming to look at other dogs. Had very good facilities for the dogs. Had good toilet facilities. Everywhere was very clean and would 1000% recommend looking at Dogs Trust to adopt/rehome a dog.

From initial phone call to the 2 day…
From initial phone call to the 2 day follow up all members of staff have been extremely friendly and helpful. They were accommodating during the adoption process meaning I could bring my new pet home the day after meeting him as the centre was 4 hours from where I live.
Everything was explained to me clearly.

Great experience with Dogs Trust…
Great experience with Dogs Trust Cumbria from application to adoption. Alisha has been the main person we have connected with. She has been amazing, really friendly and devoted to the welfare of dogs. She has led us through the whole process, answered questions we had, found answers to those that she couldn’t answer. She is a credit to the team. In her absence, Holly took over and provide exactly the same service. Dogs Trust have a strong value base and culture that really do put dogs first and clearly look to match people to dogs and dogs to people. To be honest, our biggest challenge was finding the place! If at all possible please have a bigger sign and maybe have signage in the village so that potential adopters coming to meet, know that they are on the right road. A big shout out to the staff member who stayed on the phone guiding us ..we might still be circling to find it! The sat nav wasn’t overly impressive on this occasion!

We went to have a look at the dogs to…
We went to have a look at the dogs to see what was available and saw a cutie who hadn't finished his accessment. After speaking to one of the women on reception we filled in the online adoption form mentioning our interest. When he became available they rang us to see if we were still wanting him and of course we were. Now the little cutie has found his new home and is very happy.
I can't praise them enough and I would recommend to anyone wanting to rescue a dog to pay them a visit.

I have registered with them I just lost…
I have registered with them I just lost my boy Frenchie and I still have my girl and desperately would like to rescue again and I found the perfect pup I was willing to travel. I have experienced a French bulldogs. I’m home all day every day I can do the training. I feed them the proper food unlike they do in the pic they are feeding him the worst thing possible that frenchies should not have 🙄and all cares. They ask about visitors now I have a niece who has two children ones in school ones in nursery so apparently I’m not a match yet I never see them as they are busy with there own life’s . I’ve seen them once in a year so now I can’t rescue a dog so no wonder people go and buy them and they end up in the shelters and now that dog will be rescued by somebody who could go on to have children . When I certainly won’t be . Looks like I will be buying such a shame when I can provide such a lovely home and look after them so well every one I know that I’ve just told is fuming saying the same thing this is why they are in shelters and you have a wonderful home to give them 🤷♀️very unfair . Again you keep telling me I have a visiting child when it’s quite literally once a year and that can be avoided I’m sick to death listening to your excuses I will buy a dog and it’s on you

Firstly, we are so sorry to hear about your recent loss. Please accept our sincere condolences on behalf of all of Dogs Trust.
It is wonderful to hear that you have been looking to offer a forever home to a rescue dog in need. Dogs Trust’s goal is to find all of the dogs in our care their forever homes. Kennels are a stressful environment for many dogs, and we would certainly never want a dog to be with us for longer than necessary. However, we do have to have rehoming requirements in place, to ensure that all of our dogs are rehomed to an environment which suits them.
We do have dogs who are comfortable to live with or be around children, but these dogs do tend to come in and out of our care very quickly as they are in high demand. Please be assured, however, that having visiting children does not mean you won't be a match for any of our dogs, and where we can be flexible, our rehoming team would be happy to discuss this with you.
We pride ourselves on a thorough behaviour and veterinary assessment that helps us match each dog to the right person. As a responsible rehoming organisation we would be doing a disservice to ourselves, the dog and to you if we were to rehome a dog somewhere that we didn't see as their forever home.
We do, of course, take into consideration that our adopters have experience with certain behaviours or breeds. We know people have their hearts set on certain dogs and it's disappointing to hear they won't be coming home with you; but we trust our rehoming experts to make the best decision for each of our dogs knowing them as well as they do, and not wanting to cause undue heartache in the future.
We can see that your adoption application is still open and our rehoming team are actively looking for a suitable match, particularly a French Bulldog or a Bulldog, and they will be in touch to discuss any potential dogs further.
In the meantime, if you see any other dogs on our website that catch your eye, you're welcome to reach out and let us know by emailing info@dogstrust.org.uk or calling our Customer Support Centre on 0303 003 0000. Alternatively, you are welcome to visit our rehoming centres every day (apart from Wednesdays and Fridays) between 12-4pm.
