I went online to order a currency for branch collection. I wanted it as soon as possible, not urgent, just being prepared ahead of time as one tries to be.

I see that the next day is available, I select that date and notice it then says “available after 2pm” alongside it. Hmm, no problem I’m working that afternoon so I’ll select the day after instead.

Having selected the following day, there is then no messaging referencing my pay and collect order being available after a specific time.

Great I think; complete the order and pay.

Collection day rolls around. Check branch opening hours 09:00-18:00, perfect!

Wrong.

I arrive at the Uxbridge (The Chimes) branch, 10am. Again, no messaging when I ordered saying “available after xyz time” as there had been for my previously-selected day, just the collection date.

I tell the guy on the desk that I’ve got an order to collect. He asks my name, I tell him. He then says, “You’ll get a text”. “Sorry?” I reply. He repeats “You’ll get a text”.

Confused, I check my order email… Buried in font size 10 halfway down the fairly wordy email it references getting a text once an order is available…

“So it’s not here then..?” I double-check. The guy on the desk again responds “You’ll get a text”.

I then leave.

Several key thoughts to take away here…

For me…
- Read the long email better, sure, that’s a given.

For eurochange…
- Improve the wording on your website’s basket journey. The inclusion of “available after 2pm” on certain days by its omission on others implies that the currency chosen will be available from opening the following day.

- Improve the layout of the important messaging within your service emails. There’s a lot crammed into them and stuff like “you’ll get a text…” really does get lost halfway down at the bottom of some paragraph. It would also be really handy to better draw attention to “you have 7 days to collect”, then I would’ve simply ordered it for the previous afternoon and collected it the next day. Unfortunately, we’re not all mind-readers.

- A customer service course or two for colleagues whose entire vocabularies seem to be “you’ll get a text”, wouldn’t go a miss. Someone who actually engaged just a little or gave the slightest toss could’ve considerably ‘softened’ this whole situation.

Can’t even cancel and go elsewhere without them charging me £10 for the privilege!

Astoundingly poor service from beginning to end… And I used to work for Travelex, so I know what poor service looks like!!

Looked on other sites for best rates, euro change was 2nd , I chose euro change as I have used them many times before, ordering on line and then collecting from shop, this time I ordered on line and had home delivery, the delivery was booked on the day I wanted them delivered. Had emails to confirm everything and a email once posted out and post man handed the package to me. Really pleased with how easy it was and how well it was all handled . Highly recommend using euro change.

Very easy process to buy our foreign currency and have it delivered to our home. We'll definitely use the delivery service again.

If you’re thinking of ordering foreign currency from Eurochange and it happens to be Vietnamese currency even for the smallest amount, I would go elsewhere.
Why? I supplied all the evidence that they requested, passport, driving licence, one months bank statements, cruise tickets, cruise excursions. Then, when I supplied all that information, they wanted evidence of where the money was coming from into my bank account and the final straw was when they told me that I would need to supply a copy of my pay slip. By this time, I blew a fuse and told them to cancel everything and asked for all my evidence that I supplied and walked out of the shop.
Total nightmare!!!!!!

I liked the exchange rate but the delivery was delayed by a day having waited all day only to be told two days later that the number of our apartment was not put on the package.
