I’m so happy that I went with Foot Anstey for the purchase of my first home. Even though the process should have been easy we faced extreme incompetence on the part of the lender - FA were brilliant, in particular Rebecca and Dionne, in sorting them out and cracking on with things. I’d use them again in a heartbeat!

Emily made the process so easy, which was a massive relief in what is inevitably a stressful time. The communication was very clear and concise and I always knew what I was supposed to do a when I it needed to be done by. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

I used Foot Anstey to sell my house. They were consistently professional, communicated at every step and were responsive to my emails. They dealt with some very short timeframes that the buyer placed last minute incredibly quickly. The process felt smooth and I was confident in the people I was talking to. Couldn't recommend enough, we purchased our first home tail end of 2023.Being our first we weren't sure how things worked but Sam and Connie were very helpful with guiding us step by step through the process. We managed to be in our new home within 3 months from when we initially put in an offer. Very happy with the service and very efficient!

Purchased my first house with my wonderful partner using Foot Anstey (Taunton office I believe) to act for us... Absolutely lovely bunch, friendly, efficient and pushed through the whole thing double quick. Sam and Connie were the two marvels we had most of our dealings with, and we can't thank them enough.

If I could give a ZERO-star or a NEGATIVE-5-star on system, I would do that.

AVOID- My father and his wife were charged highly expensive fees, £195 + vat. I believe, for a Will over 12 years ago. When he died it was found to contain an error for which Foot Aynstey accepted responsibility. This cost approx. £25.5k to amend. However, when it came to paying compensation instead of recompensing us fully, FA insisted on negotiation, putting us in a no win situation of having to accept just £15.5k from them. When subsequently appealing to their sense of fair play and asking for the difference, they declared that the firm which sorted out the mess they had made were liable for this. Unbelievable. They have no compassion or sense of justice and morality in their dealings with clients. As others have indicated - do not use this firm.

Disappointed with the level of professionalism seen in some areas – our experience included inefficiency, lack of expertise (nothing ‘bespoke’ involved), avoidable errors resulting from inadequate attention to detail and a confirmed breach of Law Society rules/regulations.

Foot Anstey compounded these issues by fabricating versions of events (all of which could be easily disproved), specifically to distance themselves from wrong doing and even attempted to charge us for investigating an error they acknowledged they had made.

Complaints procedure did resolve some points but a referral to the Ombudsman was still necessary.

In total, our costs have been reduced by £6,667.80

No real care or attention to detail - they churn out documents from what must be a well use template and do not read the content to a) make ensure it is accurate and b) to know to pick up on any contradictions or issues that you pay them to. Despite making a formal complaint and making it clear it was a formal complaint, never received even an acknowledgement which is against SRA code of conduct and if I could be bothered, I'd have put the complaint in with the SRA and waste the solicitors time having to formally defend their actions (or lack of them). They take ages to answer emails and half the time I did the work for them by going directly to the housing agent. Definitely take extreme care if you use this company as my experience has been very poor. Fortunately for me,the house I was buying fell through and even then they tried to justify why they could hold onto my deposit for longer than was necessary. Thank goodness I got a much better property and used a different company solicitors who I thought actually cared about doing a good job - Good luck to everyone out there but I strongly suggest that if you are having genuine issues with them, report them directly to the Solicitors Regulations Authority (SRA) as they take the conduct of all solicitors very seriously and will take action.

I would suggest all avoid this firm at all costs (would give zero if I could.)

I’ve used Foot Anstey twice, once in 2014/15 and once in 2021. Albeit no issues in 2014/15, the service I received in 2021 was terrible….. The firm obviously took on too much business during the housing boom to service their clients to the correct standard - choosing short term gain over, long term customer satisfaction.

Phone calls and emails were ignored beyond the stated contractual agreed turn-arounds, then when chased, they either lied about hold-ups outside of their control (subsequently proved to be false) or gave useless vague updates to buy time e.g. “sorry for the delay, we are reviewing your file and will get back you asap” or “we are chasing things through”, to then subsequently get no further update.

Assigned conveyancing team would go on holiday without handover, give nondescript or unhelpful answers to enquiries raised by other solicitors in the chain - leading to weekly complaints about their unprofessional approach (multiple firms and estate agents in the chain). Then also stall minor tasks others would complete in days for weeks/months, suggesting they had done it and sent it already or blame 3rd parties, which again proved to be a lie every time.

It was literally a full time job for me to manage comms and expectations with the chain, via the wonderful sales teams at my estate agent, and chase my solicitor to keep things moving over a 6-9 month period.

Still almost 12 months since completion the final documents for land registration and post sales tasks haven’t been received to close out my interactions with them. Utterly Useless!

The only saving grace was one member of staff called Sara Thomas who was moved to help us towards the end of the sale - truly brilliant and 100% is the only reason we did finally complete - Foot Anstey; pay her more and use her as an example of what customers expect re: service and communication.

No reply to emails - only an automated email stating a response will be received within 3 working days. Despite a good start with a conveyancer Anri, neither her nor her boss Jemma, seem to want to respond to emails asking for an update. Genuine concern raised as mortgage offer due to expire in 15 days, but still no responses. Not even an acknowledgement to emails. I am very worried and will be raising with the legal ombudsman if this continues. Just beware as you will no doubt be paying high fees and not getting the service of a solicitor, as you might well get with other firms.

Not impressed, seem to have taken on a lot of work and now unable to cope. No answer to emails and phones for 6days on an existing case which was expected to complete early April. An automated email reply seem to blame it on customers who are chasing a reply to their previous email multiple times as no one has responded. Also customer should refrain from calling them unless extremely urgent. Blaming the pandemic which started more than 1 year ago.

Avoid this law firm at all costs! We had recently purchased a new build that had been plagued with issues due to being completed too soon and our conveyancer was adamant we complete on the agreed date. Now that she has received her payment she is not interested to answer my calls or call back to help deal with the issues. Just take the money from the customer and the rest is history onto the next customer... You are basically paying for an expensive administrator to do the paperwork and thats that. Find yourself a better law firm when purchasing a house.
