I passed both my class 2 and class 1 with HGVT. I was dissatisfied with the lack of communication from them and also the manpower agency did absolutely nothing to find me work. Don't waste your money with HGVT go direct to a training centre.

Great service, passed my cat c+e using this company. Very helpful in arranging the driver training to suit and sorted out the issues I had had with another provider. Very grateful, thank you James, Dave my instructor and your team. 😊

Just wanted to say a big thank you to HGVT for helping me get my hgv license from the first step to the last they give you the resources to study for your theory then when your ready they book your tests after passing your tests they book your practical training and test once you pass that your cpc is booked so everything is done for you great company great customer service would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of doing their hgv training it was a long process from start to finish but really well worth it in the end.

From the very first phone call I felt I was made welcome and made it a very easy process, they booked everything for me with no complications, if I ever needed help with anything someone was always at the other end of the phone to help, very grateful in what they’ve done for me and made my process as easy and less stressful as possible. No hard feelings for only giving 3 stars on your service and communication.
(However 1 more star added for reason explained later on)
This is only due to not keep your side of the deal in terms of the "job guarantee" aspect.
This was evident to just have been a promo tactic in order for worrying candidates to feel more secure signing up with your company.
I thought it's (not smart, but) rather crafty.
It worked with me signing up but soon after I got certified, you went silent and if felt deliberate because you knew you had no jobs stacking up to dish out with your Recruitment partner ManpowerGroup. It felt very awkward after a while of trying to get a precise or clear communication, or even a mere guidance. I soon realised this was someone I need to handle myself and thank God it all worked out.

However, for anyone else.
Be rest assured that you can get trained ANYWHERE and still end up on top, because as everyone else told me at the start, you do not need a job guarantee scheme, because the hardest part is for you to focus on is getting yourself the right skills and confidence.

Having said the above, here is an additional reason for giving the extra 🌟 1 star.
Prior to signing up fully with HGVT I dipped my toe with another training resource company whom I shall not name. I found that luck I had in comparing the Theory training package supplied by HGVT was by Farrrrr the closest to what you get in Theory exams. If I hadn't, I feel I would've struggled a lot more and spent more retaking exams which gladly I didn't.
So the theory learning packages and platform earned a point.

HGVT were fantastic at booking my exams/training/test, shout out to Carlos who left, Jorge and Patricia, i did my first training for Class 2 at GTG in Wolverhampton and the facilities were so clean and very easy to access everywhere was sign posted and clear where to go when you arrive, made to feel welcome, canteen and toilets were spotless, i failed my Class 2 due to miscommunication by the examiner, i thought he was trying to trick me taking me down a advanced 7.5tonne exit at a roundabout which you could proceed into just you had to go left at next roundabout because off the weak bridge sign so he marked me down as serious for that when was his fault not mine, Anyway luckily the change in law in November 2021 i decided to go for my Class 1 C+E and second time i passed at MT training services in Droitwich i highly recommend HGV trainers Dan, Andy, Dave they are great and such a laugh, when a trainer answers his phone calls while your on road in a huge vehicle during training you’re doing something right, always saying sorry but good they had confidence in me, reversing i found the hardest spent most off my practising on it and only did one day and half on road driving and passed, now the biggest downfall since passing my test back in August I’ve been unable to find a job that accepts newly qualified drivers and that most off companies/agencies even want 6 to 12 months to two years on the road experience, how on earth can i get that if can’t get behind the wheel, I’ve paid £4,200 for the licenses and was promised manpower will find me a job as it states on HGVT website after and guess what I’ve had no help at all, false advertising, I’ve been told they will be in touch………still pending, i wouldn’t go with a broker again, booking direct is way forward.

Good quick booking dates. Got me qualified in 14 months .

CRIMINALS. AVOID!!!

Where on earth do I start. Firstly, the positive reviews simply must be made up.

I knew something was up when the ‘welcome pack’ they sent in the post didn’t include any of the required forms for the DVLA. After a quick call to them they assured me they would send them out. They didn’t. Just one of the things you might as well sort out yourself and just go to the post office.

I was sold a class 1 course costing me £3,600 and told the most lies you’ll ever hear in your life.

Lie 1) You’ll be qualified with a couple of months. What bull. Took me 9 months even after passing all the modules first time.

Lie 2) You’ll be earning 40k +. Ha!

Lie 3) You can just do shifts of 4 on, 4 off, so you’re really only working half of the year (he actually said this!).

When it came to booking my module 3, the actual practical driving, well it took weeks of calling them and pestering them for dates. This company DO NOT OWN LORRIES - THEY ARE A MIDDLE MAN WHO CHARGE YOU MORE THAN SIMPLY GOING DIRECT TO A DRIVING SCHOOL.

Eventually I had a text with dates to actually start the driving. Despite paying full whack for class 1, they farm you out to a local driving school and stick you in a class 2 lorry for three days first. Then 3 days (not actually days, like 3 hours a day) in a class 1. Then your test. If you go direct to the exact same driving school they don’t p*ss around in class 2’s if you want your class 1 licence. You get straight into the artic. Another stupid decision from HGVT who do this simply to make more money.

And this was after constant calls and emails from me asking for dates, sometimes they don’t even bother picking up the phone.

After unfortunately failing my test, I was told (after being on hold for 30 mins to this joke of a company) that the driving school would need to rebook the test. A day or two later, I contacted the driving school and checked and they informed me that it was down to HGVT to rebook it. MORE LIES FROM HGVT THEN!

Mysteriously, the person who hard sold this extortionate package in the first place disappeared off the face of the earth. Until….I had to book a retest. (another £450 - what a con!)

Then I spoke to him again and he was full of the usual cr@p again. ‘Oh yeh’, he said, ‘we’ll source some dates for a retest and get you back in the same lorry too’. LIE!!! They have zero input in what lorry the driving school will use. Why even say that?? BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE JUST TELL LIES.

Just please please please do not use these people to book your HGV training. Go direct to a school. It’s cheaper and saves you a hell of a lot of hassle.

Plenty more I could say about these utter cowboys but I’m losing the will to live now so I’ll let you make your own mind up.

Oh, I passed my retest. Thank god, because HGVT were ready and waiting for even more money from me if I failed again.

CRIMINALS.

The customer service team are outstanding. When ever you reach out to them on any issue they are always polite friendly courtias and extremely helpful and efficient. They always do what they promise to do and sometimes even if your issue can not be solved immediately you can rest assured they are working on your case in the background. I used to work in corporate customer focused organisations and I can can say that hgvt team are a great benchmark for any of them. Brilliant team that installs customer confidents when dealing with hgvt customer service. Thank you for being awesome..you guys set the benchmark

Special thanks to Jorge for finding the dates for my training. 4 weeks waiting an no dates in my local area. Finally Jorge managed to get me training date in Birmingham, roughly an hour from my place. The instructor friendly and great communication skills. Highly recommend HGVT for the service quality and the commitment from the staff to help you through the training. Thank you once again.

I found HGVT very user friendly. I was taken through the process of booking, organising and training with no complications. The training itself was fantastic, i had a great trainer who was able to adapt the training to suit my needs best and i felt very well prepared for my test which i was able to pass. I also had great communication with the customer services team who were able to assist me any needs i had. During a time where it is difficult to find training and tests i was able to secure a date within a few months that fitted in with my schedule.

Avoid like the plague
I paid for my class 1 and 2 with these costing me almost £4000.. Their sales team is great as they drag you in with all these bonuses from the company.. It's all lies, their policies state a free re-sit for theory tests as indicated in the booklet they send you out, I failed multiple choice by 2 marks first time and passed the cpc as my revision time went into cpc revision as it was new to me and had 0 help from the company.. I called for the resit for the multiple choice and was told since I hadn't done the minimum amount that "most customers" do I wouldn't get the free resit (it says no where on the paper work that you have to do a minimum amount or what is expected in terms of time revision wise)

I then called them Back after passing to see if I could be reimbursed the costs of the theory test considering the money I'd spent with them, email after email exchange and after informing them in the first email that I had in fact passed after paying for it myself and informing them over the phone.. They said no all they would do is extend the online revision features (that I've already paid them for) by a further 3 months.. I had already passed the theory so what use is that to anyone??

I paid for the resit myself after paying them £3848..

Customer service is a joke and does not care about the customer in any capacity.. I went for my lessons and my instructor was awful, made me feel nothing but anxious, I suffer with anxiety and made this clear to the customer service team many times upon asking if I could be rebooked on a different site, stating I do not care if I have to wait another couple of weeks.. Customer services told me it was "tough and nothing they can do about it" 0 regard to any form of mental health issues

Overall I'd avoid these at all costs and go elsewhere

I regretted didn't do more researches before signing up for this. I thought I could receive good advice from the company and might line up some work out of this, but HGVT only a broker that paying other company to train you for the on road test and doing some paper works for booking tests.
I was shocked some random guy explained more clearly all the costs on Youtube, £26 multiple choose, £11 hazard perception, £115/£40 on/off road test, £55 for medical test. The £2k is not include case study and practical demonstration (£23+55), so passed all the tests they sold me I still need to buy another training about £400 for case study and practical demonstration before I can work.
I paid £2k plus £450 for 1 retest on road. subtract all the tests fee, which is £1700. I don't think this price is good for 16 hours of training, as a lot of them were tea breaks and waiting time, which was fair enough as it is hard to concentrate for solid 4 hours, but I definitely didn't feel confident enough to take the on road test in such short training.

If I were doing this again, I would talk to a person had done this before, as I underestimated how easy you could fail the on road test, I would pre buy retest if it is cheaper or expecting to fail a couple of times otherwise just stress myself out.

I think it will be better if there is an option that if you want to add more training hours after the first or second lesson in the truck, otherwise you have no idea how much confident you have with the truck.

The contractor truck instructor on the other hand is very helpful, but the quality of the truck was very poor, need much more braking distance and very jerky with the accelerator. It was some lucky reason I was driving a different and better truck in the retest. This factor depends on your location. I would say if you can see the condition of the truck you are driving before you paid, that would be better.

I would try to find if any local company that can show you the truck and talk to an instructor before paying for the training.

I booked with HGVT to do my CAT C. I wish I had read the reviews first! I paid £2,099 for the service. Initially great - did my medical, worked through the online resource for the practical and passed. However in the month that has passed since I provided HGVT with my pass number I have not been able to contact them by email of phone. I have spent hours on the phone on hold with no answer. The guy who is supposed to be supporting me throughout the process won't reply to any emails. Be very careful before you book.

From the start to finish HGVT guided me through the mind field that is C+E driver training and found their on line training and guidance to be very professional and most important HGVT pick up the phone when you call and answer your questions.

Tried to cancel a contract within the 14 days cooling off period and its impossible to get through to their customer service agents.
Response from emails sent to them are generic and they never return calls as promised.

Terrible company. Please do your research if you’re thinking of getting into HGV training. I have paid around £3k for training in total since Dec 2021.

Initially the service was very good, they were answering my calls, emailing me and keeping me updated. Fast forward I failed my practical test and I have repaid the fee to retake back in June. I had a CPC test a few days ago (of which I have been waiting months for). When I paid for the retake I was told that the waiting list was about 4-5 weeks (other schools have quoted 2-4 weeks), fast forward to this week coming up to 9 weeks and to be told by their instructor that I’m not even on the waiting list.

I have tried to contact them via email and phone a number of times and I am having no response. When you do actually speak to someone they are also very unhelpful and seem to know nothing about anything. There has even been occasions when I have called from my number and they do not answer and then when I change my caller ID to private caller they appear to answer.

I have feel like I’ve waste my time and money and strongly believe it if had done a little more research about other schools I would have been done and dusted. I am currently in the process of going to trading standard as the level of service is so poor and they have sold me a dream.

My recommendation is don’t use.
