Appalling Management & Staff Bullying — Disgusting Behaviour
I am absolutely disgusted by what myself and five other customers witnessed at the Fossway store. The level of power-tripping from the manager and the toxic "pack mentality" of the staff is completely unacceptable.
1. Cruel Treatment of a Homeless YouthThere was a young homeless man sitting away from the doors, being completely quiet and polite. Staff actively told customers NOT to buy him food because it "encouraged him." When another gentleman decided to buy him a sandwich anyway, the manager confronted him aggressively, demanding to know if the food was for the lad outside. The manager then hid behind the classic excuse that "head office told him to call the police."
2. Staff Acting Like a "Pack of Wolves"The staff here have zero respect for customers and act like little lambs following the manager's every word. After the gentleman stood up for the homeless lad, a group of staff members literally swarmed and followed this paying customer around the store, tailing him through the aisles as if he were a criminal. It was pure intimidation.
3. Illegal Filming & HarassmentIt got worse outside. The manager actually followed the gentleman out to the car park and started taking photos or videos of him and his car on a phone. Another customer walked over and warned us, saying, "He just recorded you both on his phone."This is a massive breach of privacy, highly aggressive, and we are currently looking into reporting this manager to the police so they can inspect the staff phones for unauthorized footage.
The staff ignorance is shocking, and the management is utterly disgraceful. Do not shop here if you value basic human decency. Head office needs to investigate this specific branch immediately
Website
My experience of this website needs to be more up front and clear about its delivery charges , it definitely said free shipping , but later discovered that delivery charges are finalised at the checkout without your knowledge
Stating this , I do enjoy their stores but no more web sites for me

Homebargains Team Valley
Homebargains Team Valley, went in this week, staff just standing with cages just talking to each other and just getting in the way of customer's, it may be a big store but no different to the one in Byker, let's see how quiet it gets after the school holidays...
Extremely poor customer service and endless delays.
I never received my order. Instead of taking responsibility and issuing a refund, Home Bargains keeps delaying the process. Customer service simply sends template responses and now expects me to wait for a declaration form to arrive by post, complete it, sign it, and send it back within 48 hours. This is an outdated and unnecessary process that only delays resolving a genuine missing parcel.
I have fully cooperated and reported the issue promptly, yet I am being treated as though I have to prove I didn't receive my order. Customers should not have to jump through endless hoops to get help when a courier fails to deliver.
I am extremely disappointed with Home Bargains' handling of this case. I expected a straightforward investigation and refund, not unnecessary paperwork and repeated delays. I will think twice before ordering from Home Bargains again.
An Absolute Triumph of Retail Psychology
Home Bargains is a magical place where you walk in for a 99p pack of bin liners and leave £45 poorer, clutching a giant velvet footstool, three jars of artisnal pickles and a massive bag of generic brand monster munch (mm, turbot and marmalade flavour) It is the ultimate retail therapy trap, provided you have three working days to spare for the checkout process. Science tells us that infinity is an abstract concept, but Home Bargains has successfully quantified it: infinity is the exact number of people who must be waiting in line before management decides to open a second till. On my latest excursion, the queue had successfully snaked back to the seasonal garden furniture. Naturally, myself and another gentleman—distinguished by his high-visibility vest—engaged in the traditional Home Bargains Gambit. We loitered near inactive conveyor belts like two apex predators waiting for a watering hole to open. When the miraculous green light of till six finally flashed to life, I executed a flawless, lightning-fast maneuver to arrive first. Victory was mine. Or so I thought. Instead of checking out my two, that's right - two items, the cashier looked at me and barked that I needed to go wait in the other line as there were people in front of me.. Disgruntled, I retreated, only to look back and witness her immediately serving the man in the high-visibility vest. Apparently, high-vis is the universal cheat code for VIP treatment in the Home Bargains, while my own presence was merely an inconvenience. Rest assured, in future, I will be taking my custom elsewhere. It is a true tragedy, as your competitors will now reap the financial rewards of my frequent purchases of anti-diarrhoea and flatulence tablets.
As a closing note, I must at least thank you for the educational experience. Today, I witnessed what the greatest scientific minds on Earth have only ever theorised: the true, terrifying reality of quantum entanglement. To watch an entire line of humans simultaneously collapse, shift through space and instantly rematerialise at Till 6 in the exact opposite direction was nothing short of a physics miracle. Step aside, CERN—Home Bargains has cracked the space-time continuum.

I went in to look at some items with misleading RRP prices so left however there were some custoners waiting to be let out. It was only after 10am on a Sunday Morning when the automatic doors should just open with customers waiting to go out and others to come in.

Excellent customer services in the Newbury retail park store. 1/8/26. Alfie was brilliant very helpful and great attitude and very polite, he also helped me to my car with my heavy purchase. Matt at the tills was also very friendly and welcoming . Both have brilliant customer service skills
Management are useless
Management are useless, especially that young man Nathan i believe his name is, after i requested or demanded to speak to him yesterday, but (apparently) he wasn't available to speak with, his staff just laughed in my face, then repeatedly takes the Pee taken out of him calling him a push over and a whimp openly by the staff member on the floor, one staff member even admitted she has him eating out of her hands and he does anything for her. i go to the Torquay branch most weekends, and the staff are useless, unhelpful, and don't know their own store, i offen ask or where something is especially when they change the store around, to be told "oh sorry I don't know where it is, you'll have to look yourself" I went in there yesterday 26th july 2026 and 2 of the staff members were literally taking mick out of a customer, which upset her and me, they were laughing behind her back, and she ended up just walking out, a complete lack of respect, from the staff there, I phoned head quarters and they said please bring it up with the store managers, I'm done, especially with Torquay store, I work in Torquay and from now on I'm going to drive the extra mile to newton abbot and avoid Torquay store like the plague. Torquay staff you are absolutely horrible evil people. Hope they see this and you all get laid off and replaced.
Home Bargains Wyvern
I always avoid shopping here which is disappointing as i do love the deals on a lot of the items. They never seem to have enough tills open and the layout of the store is extremely awkward when queuing up.
Rude staff and used items all over
We have been shopping at Clayton store for many years now. We always had very good and friendly interactions with the shop staff. But lately it has become a major stress to walk into that store. The till staff is very rude and argumentative. Today we've had a very bad experience when the staff member have started an argument with us when we were unhappy with the pace at which the till queue was moving. Not only she started argument with us, but also got other customers involved into it. Then when we got to the till she started violently hurling the goods after scanning towards our bag, so that we had to ask her to be more careful, as some of the items were fragile and could break. The manager got involved and started supporting that rude behaviour and asked the till staff member if she was comfortable serving us further or she wanted to be replaced. Yet she didn't ask us if we were comfortable dealing with such a disrespectful behaviour.
It looks like they have a major problem with staff turnover. Not only till staff, but also security, as in the last few months there is a lot of open boxes and missing items on the shelves. Nobody is looking for goods safety and we often had to search for a box that still has its content, rather than empty ones with the actual goods being stolen.
On a weekend you can spend ages on the till, because there are only a couple of tills open and all have long queues. The people in the shop just walk in, open tubs, bottles and packs, use the products and then put them back on the shelves where we then have to trawl through to find an unopened and unused item.
Today we've got a major stress today in that store with rude staff and used items.
I don't recommend going into that store, because:
1. Manager supports rude behaviour rather than trying to discipline the staff.
2. The management doesn't care that the shelves have more empty boxes and rubbish than the actual goods.
Do not order online from Home bargains
I am extremely disappointed with Home Bargains' online delivery service.
I spent over £100 and paid a very expensive £11 for delivery, yet my order has been split into four separate deliveries. So far, only two boxes have arrived—one containing just a single item and another with only four items. I am still waiting for the remaining 27 small items.
To make matters worse, I have been bombarded with multiple emails about the different deliveries. The Evri tracking has been inaccurate, with delivery dates continually changing and even claiming a delivery attempt was made when no attempt actually took place. The tracking information is not updated in real time and is unreliable.
I have tried contacting Home Bargains customer service through their online contact page, but I have received nothing except automated responses telling me to wait. When I contacted them again to request a refund because of the poor service, I received the same automated response and no assistance from a real person.
For the amount I paid for delivery, I do not think it is acceptable to expect customers to wait several days while delivery dates keep changing and orders arrive in multiple unnecessary shipments, plus pretend attempted deliveries reported which never happened. The lack of customer support is dreadful, it just doesn't exist and has made the experience worse.
I will never order online from Home Bargains again. And I would advise others to steer clear also.
Come back b&q.
Terrible garden centre.plants never been watered.all died.ignorant womsn do called looking after them tital waste of time.no prices on most of them.never again.that was this morning 24.7.2026.and not a single person on a till.strange way to run a stall.
Total disinterest with no intention to offer help.
After several positive experiences with HB, when I required help to purchase and move a fairly large object, I was faced with total disinterest. The store was located in a shopping centre with the car park several floors away.
I also wanted to purchase some 50Ltr bags of compost and again when I asked for help in lifting them into my trolley, again the assistant shrugged her shoulders and said you’ll have to find someone strong to help.I wasn’t allowed to take the trolley out of the store!
I’m 79 years of age.
Why sell items that post a major problem to some people and why locate a store with no access to bring a vehicle close.
They do not care about their customers
I have had an awful experience which has put me off going here or trust the brand.
No one thinks a few minutes extra in the car par should incur a 100£ fine when buying in store, despite pleading via all customer avenues, they show no sympathy whatsoever to customers making a genuine well documented error.
They don't apply common sense, they don't assess the proportionality of the fines or are willing to listen.
I has been a heartbreaking experience as a previous loyal customer.
They pride themselves to help customers with a small budget then they do this to their customers.
Avoid at all costs (online purchase)
Avoid at all costs (online purchase). First, Evri pretended to have delivered the goods. The picture was neither of my house nor of the parcel. A few days later a badly damaged parcel that had obviously been opened was left on my doorstep (by the Evri driver-footage on security camera); he didn't ring the doorbell so no chance to refuse the delivery. Box was clearly unsuitable for weight of content and packaging totally unsecure. Contacted HB customer service, they arranged collection (didn't seem to worry the whole context, clearly someone following a script). On collection day, the driver (same Evri driver) refuses to take it (he recognised the parcel). Now none the wiser. HB, never again!
Useless AI customer service
My order arrived damaged, which wouldn't normally be a problem. What is a problem, though, is finding and navigating their useless human-free customer service.
Excellent
I'm a carer and regularly bring different people to the Carlisle Store at Kingstown. Not only are the prices amazing but the Customer Service Skills are amazing 👌 The staff go out of their way to make sure everyone's happy 😊
Thankyou Guy and to all the other staff, keep up the great work 👍 xxxxxx
