I had insured with Intelligent last year and fortunately had no reason to make a claim. Because I had left instructions to renew automatically unless I changed that, I was advised that this would happen when given the new quote. As the quote was only a couple of pounds more than last year, I left it to renew. This happened today with no problems at all and I received an email to advise that all had gone through perfectly. A lovely no worry purchase.

Absolute scam artists!

Intelligent Insurance are very happy to collect your premiums. Ask them to stand behind the cover you're paying for and it's a different story.

Before our loft conversion started, we did exactly what a responsible customer should do: we told Intelligent about the works. They confirmed by email that our policy had been updated from 30 March 2026, and the documents record the structural works. That email said nothing about our legal expenses cover still excluding construction disputes. Nothing.

When our builder walked off the job leaving defective, non-compliant work, we claimed on our legal expenses cover. Refused. Their explanation was that the update only applied to buildings and contents, and the legal cover (run by Arc Legal) was untouched. So the one part of the policy that could have helped us against the builder was the one part they left out, and nobody thought to tell us.

Since then it has been nothing but passing the buck. No one takes responsibility. We have been left to fight the builder on our own and pay for professional reports out of our own pocket, while they keep taking our premiums.

Our complaint is with their customer relations team and we have also taken it to the Financial Ombudsman.

If you are doing any building work, do not rely on this company. Get every part of your cover confirmed in writing, or better still, go elsewhere.

After hunting around for ages Intelligent Insurance accepted us for a very reasonable price.

Cancelled my home policy well within the 14 day cooling off period and was charged a £50 cancellation fee!
No doubt it's in the Ts and Cs but wasn't clearly pointed out when I bought the policy online (needless to say).

Excellent second home building and contents insurance cover. Competitively priced and for a renewal there was virtually no increase from the previous year.

I have now had a prompt and full apology from Intelligent Insurance, so have upped my rating from 2 to 3 stars.
Having been unable to get an online quote due to my claims history, I phoned on a Monday making it clear that I needed cover from the following Saturday. I provided the necessary information and was told that this would be passed to underwriters for consideration. On the Tuesday I received an email requesting further information for the underwriters which I provided immediately. Having heard nothing further, I phoned on the Thursday, reminding them of the urgency, but was told that the underwriters' response was still awaited. Nothing more heard, so on the Friday afternoon I arranged cover through a different broker. On the Tuesday - 3 days after I needed cover to start - I received the requested quote. This episode caused me considerable frustration and waste of time and I would suggest that anyone who needs cover in a hurry tries elsewhere.

Competitive price and easy to renew online. Previous insurer had increased price by over 100%!

They are double the price of Tesco, when I cancelled they charge £110 cancellations and set up fee

Insuring my former Mother in law’s property. I wanted to pay monthly and ended up with a credit company which I’ve never encountered before! When requesting to cancel ( within 14 days ) I’m told the £49,00 deposit would be lost! If I need to terminate early ie when the property sells I incur a £60.00 termination fee. Surely these costs should be evident up front not contained in small print! It seems that is the way things are. Needless to say I won’t be using this company again.

After spending hours searching comparison sites I at last found someone to talk too and had great help sorting my home insurance. Thank you!
